If there’s a curse in the First Heaven that cuts off one’s path to Immortality, then would he and his Disciples also be affected?
Although he has now become an Immortal Seed, and the System also said that he doesn’t need to experience the Pseudo Immortal Nine Revolutions to achieve True Immortal Ascension.
But he is essentially still a Great Emperor, and has not truly achieved Immortal Ascension.
If he also carries a curse, would he be affected?
The Lord of the Abyss seemed unsurprised by Zhong Qing’s question.
“Indeed, I knew you would ask about this.”
He said indifferently, “I can tell you for sure that you are not afflicted by the curse.”
“As for the reason, I don’t know either.”
“But this is why I chose you before and was willing to let you pass.”
The Lord of the Abyss is the most ancient and terrifying existence hidden within this First Heaven; even the current Zhong Qing cannot see through him at all, indicating that the other party is at least an Immortal Rank existence.
Such an existence, even if injured and restricted in movement, could he truly not handle Zhong Qing, who was only in the Myriad Laws Realm at the time?
Of course, Zhong Qing has the System and many abilities, making him an existence beyond common sense; it’s hard to say what would happen if they truly fought.
But in the eyes of the Lord of the Abyss at that time, he was merely a Myriad Laws Realm ant with some strange methods.
Yet, he ultimately chose to let Zhong Qing pass, and even truly listened to Zhong Qing, making an “investment” in him.
All of this seemed illogical, but at its root, it was because the Lord of the Abyss saw possibility in Zhong Qing.
An existence who originated from the First Heaven but was not afflicted by the curse.
If not for this, how could he invest in Zhong Qing? A person burdened by the curse is destined to be unable to achieve Immortal Ascension; no matter how Zhong Qing Cultivates, he would only be a Great Emperor, so what help could he be?
As for why he has no curse, even if the Lord of the Abyss did not know the reason, he knew that Zhong Qing was extraordinary.
After all, that curse is no ordinary existence.
Having received the answer from the Lord of the Abyss, Zhong Qing also slightly breathed a sigh of relief.
Although he never felt any curse on himself, and the System never mentioned it, who could guarantee that the curse wasn't too high-level or too hidden for him to detect?
But he did not completely relax; his own lack of a curse was mostly due to the System, but his other Disciples who originated from the First Heaven should all be burdened by the curse.
He continued to listen as the Lord of the Abyss spoke on.
“As for why the Fengtian Hall was cursed… it was because someone once wanted to cut off the path of all races.”
“Originally, the targets of the curse were all races within the Nine Heavens.”
“But later, a group of powerful individuals joined forces to Seal the curse within the Fengtian Hall, to prevent it from spreading further into the Second Heaven and beyond.”
“As for the existence that cursed the Fengtian Hall…”
At this point, the Lord of the Abyss’s molten giant eye slightly contracted: “That is not an existence you can know about yet.”
“It's not that I’m being alarmist; the source of that curse is truly beyond common sense. While within the Nine Heavens, merely uttering the true name of that source will cause you to be afflicted by the curse.”
“Therefore, above the Second Heaven, anyone who knows that existence’s true name, in order to prevent the curse from appearing at higher levels, will choose to Seal or erase their memories of its true name.”
“If you want to know, you must at least reach the level I was at back then.”
“That powerful?”
Zhong Qing listened, both surprised and somewhat shocked.
Since his Transmigration, he had already witnessed many unimaginable things.
But what the Lord of the Abyss said still exceeded imagination; merely uttering a name could bring a curse, even True Immortals had to Seal their memories.
Is there such a terrifying existence in this world? Is it a person? Or a certain race, a certain artifact?
However, compared to his curiosity, Zhong Qing was more interested in knowing how to remove the curse.
Hearing Zhong Qing’s question, the Lord of the Abyss sneered.
“Just like your initial question, have you ever considered why I am in the First Heaven? Why am I so severely injured?”
“For a True Immortal, what kind of injury cannot be recovered from in hundreds of thousands, or even millions of years?”
Zhong Qing raised an eyebrow: “Is it because of the curse?”
The Lord of the Abyss slowly said, “Existences below True Immortal, if afflicted by the curse, will have their path to Immortality cut off and will never be able to achieve Immortal Ascension.”
“And existences above True Immortal, if afflicted by the curse, will have their Origin rules polluted; not only will their Cultivation no longer progress, but it will even continuously decline and regress.”
“However, at my Cultivation level back then, I had a certain degree of resistance to the curse; even if I couldn’t completely eliminate it, I wouldn’t be too affected.”
“Until… I witnessed the source of that curse with my own eyes.”
“At that moment, the curse erupted both internally and externally simultaneously; even I, with all my might, couldn’t suppress it.”
“To protect myself, I had no choice but to directly destroy my entire Physical Body, and at the same time, sever the polluted part of my Origin rules.”
“The consequence is what you see today.”
“The Physical Body is fine; for a True Immortal, it’s not something that cannot be abandoned, but the damage to the Origin rules is difficult to mend.”
“That will not recover with time.”
“Not only that, but my torn Physical Body and Origin rules still contained an incredibly dense curse power; if no one suppressed it, once it erupted, half of the First Heaven would probably become barren.”
“Therefore, I had no choice but to Seal myself here, partly to recover from my injuries, and partly to suppress the cursed and polluted body and that part of the Origin rules on it.”
Zhong Qing nodded, finally understanding.
He looked at the Lord of the Abyss with considerable sympathy.
Originally, his impression of this old friend was that he was generous.
He never expected him to be so miserable.
It’s better to exploit him less in the future.
“Is there anything I can help you with?”
Zhong Qing asked.
The molten giant eye said indifferently, “To help me, your current strength is not enough; you’ll have to at least wait until you truly Breakthrough to True Immortal.”
Zhong Qing nodded: “Then I’ll come back after I Breakthrough to True Immortal.”
The Lord of the Abyss paused, and suddenly, an object was thrown from the magma, flying towards Zhong Qing, who casually caught it.
“Since you’re going to the Immortal Alliance, take this with you.”
“This is my last treasure.”
Zhong Qing habitually ignored the last sentence and asked, “What is this?”
What landed in his hand was a palm-sized bronze mirror radiating golden light.
“This is the Heaven Exchange Mirror.”
“Find a place you consider safe, activate the bronze mirror, and project the scenery of that place into the mirror.”
“Thereafter, when you encounter danger, activate the bronze mirror again, and you can instantly swap spaces, returning to the location you previously projected into the mirror.”
“Even if you are in the Eighth Heaven, you can instantly return to the First Heaven.”
As his voice faded, the Lord of the Abyss’s tone deepened.
“Remember, within the Immortal Alliance, some people are trustworthy, but some… you must be careful!”
