169: mob
Lingnan Academy's J District, also known as the Punishment Zone.
This area is specifically responsible for punishing students who have made mistakes, and it is the place the student body is least willing to visit.
This area has no fixed guard force; instead, various large classes take turns sending people to guard it, which allows them to obtain significant growth resources.
Their presence isn't really to prevent 'jailbreaks.' In the academy, for hundreds of years, no one has heard of anyone so insane or bored as to snatch a student from here.
Coincidentally, the class responsible for the J District today happened to be Yan Chengze's class.
Several students were chatting in the registration room at the entrance to pass the time.
A tall boy with shoulder-length hair leaned against a chair, feet on the table, and said to the boy in the chair next to him: "Qian Feng, I haven't heard before that there was someone so powerful in Yan Ruyu's class that they could defeat an Advanced Class student from Lingbei Academy?"
The one called Qian Feng was one of the three people Yan Chengze had poached from Yan Ruyu's class earlier.
Hearing the question, Qian Feng smiled bitterly: "Class Monitor, Qin Tianyu was always quiet and rarely fought in class. I didn't expect him to be so powerful either."
"Is that so? Then you're really useless. Not even knowing this bit of information," the Class Monitor said nonchalantly.
After he spoke, the others in the registration room burst into laughter, mocking him unscrupulously.
Qian Feng's face stiffened, and he followed with a forced laugh.
He originally thought that by following Yan Chengze to their class, he could not only evolve for free but also obtain good evolution resources. He didn't expect that after arriving, he would just be at the bottom, bullied by other classmates.
He looked out the window to try and ease the embarrassment and saw a figure in the distance, riding a White Wolf and charging toward them.
After looking closely, his expression changed drastically: "Oh no! Xie Ning is actually back!"
"Who's Xie Ning?" the Class Monitor asked, puzzled.
"Sounds a bit familiar, I think I've heard it somewhere."
"Qian Feng, why are you reacting so strongly?"
Qian Feng swallowed hard and explained to the others:
"This guy is a lunatic. He hasn't been at the academy for even half a month and already dared to compete with Zhao Long and Ye Feiyu, and he didn't lose. The instructor promised to help me evolve before, and the top-tier cultivation student we invited was his disciple..."
"Oh? I want to see what he wants to do."
"It would be best if he's here to snatch someone, haha~"
"If he really dares to snatch someone, then brothers, don't hold back. Hit him hard, and after hitting him, lock him up too!"
"Coming alone, he's really looking for death."
"Just a Bronze Rank weakling. Zhao Long and Ye Feiyu were probably just playing with him."
Compared to these people who didn't care or were even itching for a fight, Qian Feng quietly retreated to a corner, trying not to let Xie Ning see him.
"Eh, I didn't expect you to be here too, Qian Feng. So, it's Yan Chengze's turn to watch the door today?"
Xie Ning arrived at the door and smiled as he looked at the figure trying hard to shrink back.
Qian Feng was so startled by Xie Ning's words that his heart skipped a beat, and he almost fell. He laughed dryly: "Yeah, yeah, what a coincidence..."
"So, do you choose to open the door and send Qin Tianyu out, or should I go in and find him myself?" Xie Ning said.
*Gulp*
Qian Feng swallowed. Feeling everyone's eyes on him, he gritted his teeth: "Xie Ning, I'm telling you, this is the J District, and other students are forbidden from entering! If you dare to mess around, don't blame us for being impolite!"
Xie Ning narrowed his eyes, staring at Qian Feng with a sharp gaze as a faint Killing Intent spread out.
"Open it."
Two simple words, accompanied by Killing Intent, not only made Qian Feng break out in a cold sweat but also made the others' hearts race.
The Class Monitor stepped forward and glared at Xie Ning: "You're Xie Ning, right? Get lost! Don't force us to act!"
"Are you the leader?" Xie Ning glanced at him.
"That's right! You..."
Before he could finish, the door shattered. Sharp pieces of wood flew like arrows in all directions. Xie Ning burst through the door, grabbed a wooden bolt, stabbed it into him, and then sent him flying with a kick.
Seeing this, the others quickly sounded the J District alarm. Xie Ning didn't stop them; he walked toward Qian Feng step by step.
Every step closer made the latter's heart tremble.
The others were so scared they ran out the door, having long forgotten the tough words they had spoken earlier.
They summoned their Demon Tamers Beasts at the door, but facing Baiya crouching there, none of these Bronze Rank Demon Tamers Beasts dared to step forward.
Inside the registration room, Xie Ning walked toward Qian Feng step by step.
"Don't be nervous. I'm just fulfilling what I said before. It was something I said while chatting with Su Qin."
"W-what promise..."
"On the day you were poached, I said, 'If I get the chance, I still have to give you a beating!'" As Xie Ning's voice fell, his fist followed.
Ten seconds later, Xie Ning had finished his beating. He stood up and looked at the crowd surrounding the registration room three layers deep.
"Are you all from Yan Chengze's class?"
No one expected Xie Ning to ask this.
"Yes! You'd better stop, classmate, or we'll report you. Not just you, but your whole class will suffer! You won't get next month's resources either!"
"Right! Stop now, or don't blame us for being impolite!"
"Students from the Intermediate Class will be here soon. You'd better behave, or else when you get beaten later, don't—don't blame us for not warning you."
Xie Ning looked at this large group of people who were fierce in appearance but weak at heart and couldn't help but smile.
Flowers in a greenhouse—even their threats sounded like bleating sheep.
"What... what are you laughing at?"
"What's so funny?"
Xie Ning looked around at the group of over fifty students, whose Ranks were similar to his, and saw how they were trembling with nervousness. He said, "Since I'm here to cause trouble today, I'll finish beating you all first! Don't blame me; who told you to be associated with Yan Chengze?"
After he finished speaking, accompanied by Baiya's wolf howl, Xie Ning picked up a broom and a wooden stick from the registration room. Like a tiger among sheep, he began a flurry of strikes.
*Thud, thud, thud...* "Ouch! Ouch! Stop hitting, stop hitting..."
"Scatter! If we scatter, he won't be able to hit us!"
"Don't scatter, don't scatter! I'm afraid he'll target me..."
"Help! Poison Lizard, save me!"
"Crescent Moon Rhino, come help!"
*Awoooo—*
"Oh no, Poison Lizard, quick... Pfft!"
"Crescent Moon Rhino, come back! Don't run away!"
Xie Ning rushed into the crowd, beating the once orderly fifty or so people into a mess. At first, about ten tried to attack Xie Ning, but they were blocked by their incompetent teammates.
As time passed, the wails and screams increased, and these sounds crushed everyone's will to resist.
They didn't care about dealing with Xie Ning anymore; each of them wished they had an extra pair of legs just to run ahead of the others.
It was a chaotic scene that would make anyone shake their head in disappointment.
Thirty minutes later, except for about ten who were knocked unconscious and seven or eight wailing on the ground, the rest had long since scrambled away from the J District.
Over a dozen Demon Tamers Beasts bitten to death by Baiya lay on the ground.
"So-called top students are at this level?" Xie Ning looked at everything before him, then at the broken wooden stick in his hand, and shook his head.
He tossed the stick aside and walked toward the third building.
Xie Ning didn't notice that several figures were standing in an invisible spot above him.
Naturally, since the J District alarm had been sounded, how could it not alert people?
One of the elderly figures was Dean Nanfeng. He looked at the people on the ground and sighed, much like Xie Ning: "How can a group like this carry a new banner?"
"That's why a leader is so desperately needed." Standing beside Dean Nanfeng was Director Bai; he looked thoughtfully in the direction Xie Ning had gone. "Without a leader, no matter how many people there are, they are just a rabble. Someone must stand up and call out to gather the fireflies and form a torch."
"Then who do you think is more suitable to be this leader?"
"This..." The others looked at each other.
