35: Episode 4 of the first episode

Previously, the couple's impression of cartoons was a bunch of cute characters saying childish things.

In short, kids liked watching them, so they didn't say much.

Besides, animation Producers on Blue Star were relatively few.

They couldn't help it; everyone knew animation production didn't make money because the audience was only children.

And what kind of spending power do children have?

Those Producers would be better off making TV shows, movies, or games.

Furthermore, animation production was very troublesome; one needed to grasp what children loved to watch, and there were a lot of censorship issues.

In short, they, as adults, would absolutely never want to watch cartoons.

But now, this cartoon seemed a bit different. Looking at the opening, it seemed to be a war film?

Just as Talon was thinking this, he heard a voiceover narration.

“Episode One: Oath of the Peach Garden.”

“The late eastern han dynasty, a chaotic era unseen in a hundred years...”

The overall screen was orange, looking like it had been scorched by a great fire; withered trees could be seen in the distance.

In the foreground were silhouettes of characters and a solitary child.

“Wait, what is a 'Eunuch'?” Anna asked unconsciously.

Talon: “This...”

He really didn't know!

“Let's keep watching; there should be an explanation.”

The two continued watching until a withered, skeleton-like hand suddenly appeared on the screen. The hand seemed to want to grasp the setting sun, but ultimately fell down powerlessly.

Then the scene cut immediately to show countless flags.

Accompanied by the narration, the sound of hoofbeats rang out as a large group of people came riding through the dust.

In the distance was a city.

When Anna heard the people in the animation shouting for blood, she was a bit worried about whether there would be any bloody scenes.

But she soon realized she had overthought it.

A woman playing a zither suddenly appeared on the screen. She wore a strange yet exceptionally beautiful hairstyle and heavy, gorgeous clothes.

She played the instrument with her head lowered; her face was truly one that could 'eclipse the moon and shame the flowers,' exquisitely beautiful.

An introduction appeared next to the character—Diaochan.

But immediately after, a string snapped, and an old man with a sword pulled her away.

Shouts of battle followed.

Although Talon and Anna didn't quite understand some parts, they gradually became immersed.

As for Little Wright, he was watching very intently.

The three watched as Diaochan was pursued all the way, pushed off a cliff by that old man, and then brought home by another old man who looked like a positive character.

The plot was very tight, and the characters and story seemed extremely complex.

Yet, they unconsciously watched until the moment Liu, Guan, and Zhang took their Oath of the Peach Garden.

Peach blossoms fluttered as the three drank and talked happily.

Talon couldn't help but read along, “We seek not to be born on the same year, month, and day, but we hope to die on the same year, month, and day!”

These lines really gave him goosebumps.

He didn't expect that Liu, Guan, and Zhang would make such a heavy oath simply because their ideals and ambitions were the same.

That Zhang Fei even directly sold his peach garden!

Just when they were watching with great interest, the scenes for Liu, Guan, and Zhang ended.

Another character named Cao Cao suddenly appeared.

With characters appearing one after another, Talon and Anna's heads were spinning, yet they really couldn't stop.

This cartoon had a special kind of magic.

It urged them to keep watching intently to figure out what the Producer actually wanted to tell.

Just like that, they finished watching all four newly released episodes.

When she saw there was no next episode, Anna finally woke up as if from a dream. “How is it over already?”

“I still want to see what happens to Diaochan later.”

“Sigh,” she sighed, but then suddenly snapped back to her senses.

Wait, how did she, an adult, get so engrossed in a cartoon!

But before she could think further, Talon spoke excitedly, “This show is really too good. I'm going to share it with Old Zheng. I dare say at this current level, it's definitely a dark horse this year!”

“This concept, this plot, these character designs—genius! Pure genius!”

He gesticulated wildly as he picked up his phone to call Old Zheng.

Leaving only Anna and the silent Little Wright, she hurriedly asked, “What's wrong? Why aren't you talking?”

Usually, after Wright finished a cartoon, he would clamor to watch it again.

Why wasn't he saying a word today after finishing?

Could it be that he thought it wasn't good?

But there was really no helping it; this cartoon was very difficult even for adults to watch. Anna felt like she was still in a fog, only able to be led by the nose by the Producer.

She bent down worriedly to look at Little Wright, and only then did Little Wright speak, “Mom, Three Kingdoms is really good.”

“It's just that there are many things I don't understand.”

Anna stroked his head, “What don't you understand?”

Little Wright blinked his eyes, “What is an Emperor?”

Anna smiled, “An Emperor is the King of a country. This is a term from a long, long time ago, meaning the most, most powerful person.”

“Then why is the Emperor in here afraid of Wang Yun?” Little Wright didn't understand.

Anna didn't expect Little Wright to see that, but it was true—this cartoon displayed character emotions very straightforwardly.

The little Emperor was so scared he peed himself; it would be strange if one couldn't see it.

She pursed her lips, “Because he has no power. The power is in Wang Yun's hands. Although the Emperor is the most powerful and can control a country, if the power isn't in his own hands, then that status has no effect.”

“For example, the person with the highest status in your class is the Class Monitor. But if he only has that status, and in reality, he's even afraid of an ant, and the teacher never lets him manage the class, but instead lets the Study Representative manage it, then do you think you'd be afraid of him?”

Little Wright shook his head.

Anna laughed, “That's why that Emperor is afraid of Wang Yun. Because he's like that Class Monitor who's afraid of ants, and the homeroom teacher is Wang Yun.”

After saying that, she also breathed a sigh of relief. She was really afraid the child would ask her other questions.

She really wouldn't be able to answer those.

However, in order to be able to answer the child's questions in the future, should she go check out the discussions for these episodes?

Thinking of this, she immediately glanced at the time, “It's already past eight o'clock; it's time for bed.”

“Go take a bath, quick!”

Little Wright originally had many more questions he wanted to ask, but it was indeed his bedtime now.

He nodded, “Then I'll watch it with Mom again tomorrow!”

Anna smiled. After sending the child into the bathroom, she immediately took out her phone and found a film and television forum.

She then quickly posted a thread.

【Has anyone watched "animated version of romance of the three kingdoms"? Let's discuss the plot together.】

[OP: Just finished watching with my kid, but I didn't understand it at all. Are there any experts who can analyze it?]

After posting, she tried searching the forum, but unfortunately, there were only some discussions about the trailers for the animated version of romance of the three kingdoms.

She could only go on Social Media Platform to take a look.

To her surprise, she actually scrolled through quite a few discussions about Three Kingdoms.

【This cartoon is well-made. The art style is refined and different from previous animations. Highly recommended.】

【Trash animation. Kids can't understand it at all. I don't know what's the point of filming this kind of messy war film.】

【No, can someone tell me who the protagonist of Three Kingdoms actually is?】
