486: Chapter 486 Oh, the bed warmer has arrived! Quick, massage my legs!

Half an hour later, the flames finally extinguished.

On the cliff, only a huge deep pit remained.

The bottom of the pit was full of lava and scorched earth, still emitting wisps of blue smoke.

The air was filled with a thick, nauseating smell of burning and blood.

Tian Jianzi was gone.

His body had been burned to ashes. Not even a trace remained.

Xu Ruyu stood at the edge of the deep pit, panting heavily.

His face was as pale as paper, his forehead covered in cold sweat, and his hands were trembling slightly.

Detonating the ten great arrays had consumed a vast amount of his Divine Sense and spiritual power; he was now so weak that he could barely stand.

Yet, his eyes remained bright.

He smiled.

"A Half-step True Immortal is nothing more than this. Your strength is not bad, but your brain... is a bit lacking."

The news spread throughout the entire Cultivation World.

Tian Jianzi of the Tianshu Sword Sect, a peak expert at the Half-step True Immortal Realm, had chased Xu Ruyu of the Hehuan Sect for twenty-eight days, only to be counter-killed by Xu Ruyu in the end.

This news, like a thunderclap on level ground, stunned everyone into speechlessness.

"What? Tian Jianzi is dead? Killed by Xu Ruyu?"

"Impossible. Tian Jianzi is a Half-step True Immortal. How could Xu Ruyu, a mere Half-step Saint Realm cultivator, possibly kill him?"

"It's true. Someone saw it at the scene. Xu Ruyu set up ten great arrays and burned Tian Jianzi to death alive."

"My god, Xu Ruyu is truly Heaven-Defying. A Half-step Saint Realm killing a Half-step True Immortal—this is something that has never happened before in the Cultivation World."

"Isn't he at the Half-step Saint Realm? How could he kill a Half-step True Immortal?"

"I heard the Cultivation Technique he practices is incredibly awesome; the more he runs, the more energetic he gets, and he never gets tired. Tian Jianzi chased him for twenty-eight days, exhausted his spiritual power and stamina, and only then was he counter-killed."

"That's too terrifying. A Half-step Saint Realm cultivator exhausted a Half-step True Immortal to death. If this spreads, the entire Cultivation World will be shaken."

It wasn't just outsiders who were shocked, but also the Elders and Disciples who had defected from the Hehuan Sect.

When the Hehuan Sect was in crisis, many Elders and Disciples chose to defect.

They took their own Disciples and sought refuge in other Sects, thinking that the Hehuan Sect was finished and Xu Ruyu was done for.

But now, what did they hear?

Xu Ruyu had killed the Half-step True Immortal, Tian Jianzi.

A Half-step True Immortal.

That was a Realm they didn't even dare to imagine, yet Xu Ruyu had actually managed to kill one?

How could this be possible?

"Master, did we make a mistake back then?" a young Disciple asked his Master.

The Master fell silent. He didn't know what to say either.

He had thought the Hehuan Sect was finished and Xu Ruyu was done for; he had thought his choice was correct.

But now, he realized he was wrong. Wrong, terribly wrong.

"Xu Ruyu... what kind of person is he exactly?" he muttered, his voice filled with bitterness.

No one could answer him. Because no one knew exactly what kind of person Xu Ruyu was.

Xiao Nianyin was on her way to the Tianshu Sword Sect.

She had been flying for several days and was almost there.

She was going to the Tianshu Sword Sect to find Tian Jianzi and to find Xu Ruyu.

Then, she heard the news.

Tian Jianzi was dead. Killed by Xu Ruyu.

Xiao Nianyin was stunned.

She stood in the air, silent for a long time.

Xu Ruyu was not dead.

Not only was he alive, he had even killed Tian Jianzi.

She recalled her worries over the past few days, her determination to go to the Tianshu Sword Sect and risk her life, and her anger when she thought Xu Ruyu had been captured.

She suddenly smiled.

That smile was the first time in so many years that she had truly smiled from the bottom of her heart.

"This bastard..." she muttered, her voice carrying an indescribable emotion, "making me worry for nothing."

She turned around and flew in the direction of Xu Ruyu.

She knew he was there. She had to find him.

Xiao Nianyin flew for half an hour and finally arrived at the mountainous area.

From afar, she saw the huge deep pit and the swaying figure on the edge of the pit.

Xu Ruyu.

He stood there, covered in blood, his robes tattered, his hair disheveled, looking utterly wretched.

Yet, his eyes remained bright.

Xiao Nianyin landed behind him without making a sound.

Xu Ruyu seemed to sense something and turned around.

He saw Xiao Nianyin and was stunned for a moment.

Then, he smiled.

In that smile, there was exhaustion, relief, and also a trace of an indescribable... smugness.

"Oh my," his voice was hoarse but carried a hint of teasing, "has my Bed-warming maid come to find me? Just in time, I've been chased for over half a month, and my legs are about to break from running. Come, come, give your Master a leg massage."

This was originally just a joke from Xu Ruyu.

He knew Xiao Nianyin wouldn't actually massage him; after all, she was a former Saint Realm Expert, and even though she had become his Bed-warming maid, she was still proud to the bone.

But Xiao Nianyin did not refuse.

She walked over expressionlessly, went to Xu Ruyu's side, and helped him sit down.

Then, she knelt down and really began to massage his legs.

Xu Ruyu was stunned.

He looked down at Xiao Nianyin, at her cold and aloof face, at her lowered brows and eyes, and at her slender fingers gently pressing on his legs.

"You..." He opened his mouth, somewhat surprised by Xiao Nianyin's actions.

Xiao Nianyin didn't look up, only saying softly: "Don't speak, just rest well."

Xu Ruyu closed his mouth.

He leaned against a rock, feeling the warmth from Xiao Nianyin's fingertips and the perfect strength of her massage.

His legs were indeed very sore; after running for twenty-eight days, even someone made of iron couldn't take it.

Xiao Nianyin's massage made him feel so comfortable he almost groaned out loud.

He closed his eyes, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned.

"Bed-warming one," he said softly, "thank you."

Xiao Nianyin's fingers paused slightly, but she didn't speak.

She just continued to massage, once, twice, again and again.

Moonlight spilled onto the two of them, stretching their shadows long.

In the distance, the deep pit was still emitting blue smoke.

Nearby, rubble and scorched earth covered the ground.

The night wind blew, bringing with it the smell of burning and the scent of blood.

But at this moment, Xu Ruyu couldn't smell anything.

He only felt that Xiao Nianyin's fingers were soft, and it felt very comfortable to have them pressing on his legs...
