518: Chapter 518 My disciple is getting married, and I, the sect leader, don't even know?

Shen Ao actually knew that Leng Ningshuang wasn't marrying him of her own free will.

She had only agreed to this marriage for the sake of the Hehuan Sect.

He wanted to tell her that he would treat her well, take care of her for a lifetime, and never let her suffer any grievances.

But he didn't know if she was even willing to hear those words.

“Senior Brother, does this ceremonial robe fit well?”

A Junior Brother asked.

Shen Ao looked at himself in the mirror and nodded. “It fits.”

The Junior Brother smiled and said, “Senior Brother, you look truly handsome today. When Miss Leng sees you, she will definitely like you.”

Shen Ao gave a bitter laugh and said nothing.

He walked out of the room, looking at the sight of the Tianyan Sect decorated with lanterns and streamers, yet he couldn't find any joy in his heart.

He looked toward the distance, in the direction where the Hehuan Sect Disciples were staying.

He wondered when Xu Ruyu and Xiao Nianyin would arrive.

If they arrived before the wedding, would Leng Ningshuang change her mind?

He didn't know.

But he knew that whether Leng Ningshuang was willing or not, he would marry her. He had waited for her for years, and having finally obtained this opportunity, he didn't want to give it up.

Xiao Nianyin and Xu Ruyu were currently rushing toward the Tianyan Sect.

The two were not flying fast because Xu Ruyu's body had not yet fully recovered.

Although he had achieved a Breakthrough to the Mid-Stage Saint Realm, being pursued by Tian Jianzi for twenty-eight days had pushed his body to its limit.

Along the way, Xiao Nianyin looked back at him from time to time, her eyes full of worry.

“Do you want to rest for a bit?” she asked.

Xu Ruyu shook his head. “No need. We're almost there.”

Xiao Nianyin looked at his pale face, feeling a bit of heartache, but she said nothing.

She knew that Xu Ruyu was in a hurry because he was worried about the Disciples of the Hehuan Sect.

Leng Ningshuang, the Grand Elder, Hua Xunhuan, Granny Liu, and those Junior Brothers and Sisters were all waiting for them at the Tianyan Sect.

“Do you think the Sect Master of the Tianyan Sect will take them in?” Xu Ruyu suddenly asked.

Xiao Nianyin nodded. “She will. Shen Biyun is an old acquaintance of mine; she won't just stand by and watch them die.”

Xu Ruyu was silent for a moment, then asked, “Then how do you think Leng Ningshuang and the others are doing now?”

Xiao Nianyin thought for a moment and said, “They should be fine. With the Grand Elder there, nothing should go wrong.”

Xu Ruyu did not speak again.

He looked ahead, his gaze firm.

The two continued their journey, crossing mountains and rivers.

The sun rose from the east and set in the west until finally, the mountain gate of the Tianyan Sect was visible in the distance.

Tianyan Sect.

The sun was setting, and the twilight was deepening.

In the great hall, red candles burned brightly, and the room was full of guests.

Elders and Disciples of the Tianyan Sect, as well as Loose Cultivators who had rushed over from nearby, all came to offer their congratulations.

Laughter, blessings, and the clinking of glasses blended together into a single sound.

Leng Ningshuang was dressed in a bright red wedding gown, wearing a phoenix crown on her head and a red veil over her face, standing in the center of the hall.

Beside her was Shen Ao, dressed in a deep red ceremonial robe.

Shen Ao had a smile on his face, but Leng Ningshuang couldn't see it; she could only see the red carpet beneath her feet.

Shen Biyun sat on the throne, looking at the new couple with eyes full of gratification.

Her son was finally getting married, and to the very Leng Ningshuang he had been pining for for several years.

Although Leng Ningshuang wasn't willing, she believed that as time passed, she would accept Shen Ao.

“First bow to Heaven and Earth!” the master of ceremonies shouted loudly.

Leng Ningshuang and Shen Ao turned around and bowed toward the outside of the hall.

“Second bow to the parents!”

The two turned around and bowed to Shen Biyun.

“Husband and wife bow to each other!”

The two faced each other and were just about to bow—

“Wait!”

A voice came from outside the hall; it wasn't loud, but it clearly reached everyone's ears.

That voice carried a hint of displeasure and an unquestionable authority.

Everyone was stunned.

Leng Ningshuang's body trembled violently, and her eyes behind the red veil widened suddenly.

This voice was all too familiar to her.

At the entrance of the hall, a figure in green robes strode in. Behind him followed a woman in white with ice-blue long hair and an exquisite face, her whole body radiating a faint chill.

Xu Ruyu.

Xiao Nianyin.

Xu Ruyu walked into the great hall, his gaze sweeping over the room full of guests, the red silk, and the high-hanging lanterns, finally landing on Leng Ningshuang.

His brow furrowed slightly, yet the corners of his mouth curled into a half-smile.

“My Disciple, Xu Ruyu's Disciple, is getting married, and I, as the Sect Master, haven't even arrived. Isn't your conduct a bit too unsightly?”

His voice wasn't loud, but it was like a giant boulder thrown into a calm lake, stirring up a thousand waves.

The hall broke into an uproar.

Shen Biyun's expression changed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure.

She stood up and looked at Xu Ruyu, a complex light flashing in her eyes.

Shen Ao's face also changed.

He looked at Xu Ruyu, then at Leng Ningshuang, an ominous premonition rising in his heart.

Leng Ningshuang stood frozen, her eyes already red behind the veil.

She looked at Xu Ruyu and Xiao Nianyin, her lips trembling slightly as she wanted to say something, but she couldn't utter a single word.

Xu Ruyu walked up to Leng Ningshuang and stopped.

He looked at this Disciple dressed in the bright red wedding gown, a flicker of heartache crossing his eyes.

“Senior Sister Leng,” his voice was very soft, so soft that only Leng Ningshuang could hear, “I'm late.”

Leng Ningshuang's tears finally burst forth.
