371: Chapter 371 Reincarnation, almost word for word
Guardian One slowly began to explain.
Following behind, Dao Man felt a massive shock in his heart.
This mysterious and unfathomable old Senior had actually waived all the trials, and it was all because of this fellow Qin Wushang!
Just how special was this guy?
“Then I thank Senior for fulfilling this.”
Qin Wushang cupped his hands and bowed, showing great respect.
“The wine here—if you can drink even a single mouthful, you can enjoy an extra day of peace and worry-free safety in the Immortal Tomb.”
As Guardian One's voice fell, he walked slowly to a table in the center of the hall and sat down.
That was the most special table in the entire hall.
It was neither square nor rectangular; this table alone was circular.
A wine pot sat quietly on the table, appearing no different from the pots elsewhere.
“Do you dare to sit?”
Guardian One looked up, indifferently eyeing Qin Wushang.
“I do!”
“Why wouldn't I dare!”
Qin Wushang countered loudly.
His figure flashed, and he was already seated opposite Guardian One.
Mu Muyun and Jiang Chengqiu followed closely, sitting quietly by his sides, one on the left and one on the right.
Dao Man also hurried forward, his fatty face bunching up into a smile. Seeing that Guardian One was not displeased, he immediately sat down beside them with great caution.
In the next moment, the wine pot flew into the air on its own, jade cups materialized out of nowhere, and streaks of brilliant flowing light poured from the pot.
A bizarre and shocking scene suddenly occurred.
The wine pot was still the same wine pot, but what poured out was not wine, but cascades of brilliant starry rivers.
The surrounding scenery changed violently. The group was no longer inside the hall but was instead seated around the table in the depths of the vast, boundless starry sky.
The wine pot suspended in the starry sky poured billions of stars from its spout. The starry river cascaded into the cups, turning into a clear, bright, and radiant divine brew.
The cups drifted down in front of everyone. The starry wine rippled slightly, causing the surrounding starry river to ebb and flow with it.
Dao Man watched, dumbstruck, not even daring to breathe too heavily.
Qin Wushang raised his hand and gently grasped the wine cup.
Mu Muyun and Jiang Chengqiu, on his left and right, also raised their cups simultaneously, their gazes falling upon him.
Qin Wushang tilted his head back and drank the starry river in his cup in one gulp.
The two women followed suit and drank it down.
As the liquid entered his throat, a vast and boundless power instantly swept through his limbs and bones, as if the entire starry sky had been swallowed into his body, leaving his mind clear and tranquil.
Qin Wushang looked inward; the entire dao palace world had become radiant.
His myriad dao divine tree frantically devoured the jade nectar, growing at a terrifying speed.
Even the dormant Kunpeng opened its eyes immediately, transforming into its Kun form and opening its abyssal maw to swallow the jade nectar falling into the dao palace world.
Guardian One looked at him and spoke slowly, his voice penetrating the starry sky with an ancient and desolate tone.
“Since you possess Chaos and have triggered the phenomena of this tower, this seat will ask you one question.”
“What is an Immortal? What is a Demon? What is Good, and what is Evil?”
This was a questioning of the Dao, and a questioning of the heart.
Qin Wushang set down his wine cup. A flash of chaotic divine light passed through his eyes, and brilliant ripples rose in the lake of his heart.
He closed his eyes, pondered for a moment, and then spoke calmly.
“Immortal is not high; Demon is not evil.”
“Immortals can have hypocrisy; Demons can have sincerity.”
“An Immortal can slaughter all living beings; a Demon can also protect the people of the world.”
He paused, his voice steady and firm.
“Immortal and Demon never depend on Realm, title, or power; they only exist within the heart.”
“If the heart is toward all living beings and protects its obsessions, then even a Demon is an Immortal.”
“If the heart harbors selfish desires and brings Chaos to heaven and earth, then even an Immortal is a Demon.”
“Power has no righteousness or evil; the path of the Dao has no high or low. Only the human heart distinguishes good from evil.”
“Immortal and Demon are but a thought apart; good and evil are but a step away.”
“I do not cultivate to be an Immortal, nor do I fall into being a Demon. I only cultivate my heart and only guard my convictions.”
As the words fell, the entire starry sky suddenly went silent.
The starry river stilled; all sounds vanished.
Guardian One looked at Qin Wushang, and for the first time, a look of deep emotion appeared in his eyes.
“As expected... it really is you! The person I have been waiting for is really you!”
Guardian One's voice trembled, unable to hide the excitement of a million years.
He was once again certain that Qin Wushang was the fellow who had caused him to lose his freedom.
“Waiting for me?”
Qin Wushang's eyes flickered, showing a look of confusion.
The two women were savoring the starry river wine in their cups. Hearing this, they both looked up, their attention fully captured.
“Correct.”
Guardian One spoke in a deep voice.
“Since you understand me, you should realize that this seat was by no means trapped here for no reason.”
“For countless ages, I never understood why I ended up here. It was only today that I realized the existence within the Immortal Tomb wanted me to wait here for a person—or perhaps to guard an object.”
“A long, long time ago, I saw a fragment of text on an ancient mountain outside the Immortal Tomb.”
“And what you just said is almost word for word identical to that inscription.”
Guardian One grew more excited as he spoke.
He had previously left the Ancient Tower to head straight for the depths of the Immortal Tomb to view those ancient words once more. Only after returning did he lose his composure like this.
Qin Wushang remained silent for a moment before speaking indifferently: “What if it is just a coincidence? It is not as if there are no people in the world with similar insights.”
He understood in his heart that his arrival was not simple; after all, he was a man with a System.
But to say that the one slumbering within the Immortal Tomb was him was a bit too absurd.
Of course, if there really was such a thing as Reincarnation, then saying it this way would be within the Realm of reason.
Mu Muyun frowned slightly and asked softly: “Does Senior mean to say that those words were left behind by his previous life?”
“But is there really such a thing as Reincarnation... After reincarnating, is that person still the same person as before?”
Jiang Chengqiu set down her wine cup, her gaze distant as she spoke softly.
“I have read ancient texts where powerful beings attained the Dao and said that there is no true Reincarnation in this world.”
“The so-called reunion is merely a similar flower blooming again or a similar ripple rising in the river of time after an eternity.”
Qin Wushang tapped his fingertips lightly on the table and pondered for a moment.
“The flowers are similar, but the people are different.”
“The soul can reincarnate, but the heart is hard to replicate.”
“I am who I am—neither before nor after, neither ancient nor modern.”
“Even if there truly is a past life, that is merely a piece of history.”
“Even if the Immortal Tomb hides secrets, I only recognize my current self in this life.”
As his words fell, the starry sky trembled slightly, and the wine liquid rippled.
Guardian One looked at him, his gaze having completely changed.
“If it is as you say, and the Immortal Tomb buries my past life, then I am truly looking forward to it.”
“Can it be opened?”
Qin Wushang inquired.
He was becoming more and more curious about the existence of the Immortal Tomb.
“No!”
“A long, long time ago, even when this seat gathered the power of all the races in the heavens, I could not break in. I only managed a few glimpses of the immortal coffin.”
“Even if the heavens collapse and the Great Dao of heaven and earth is reorganized, the Immortal Tomb remains eternal.”
“Over countless ages, this seat has tried countless times, yet I still cannot peer into even a fraction of it.”
Even as powerful as he was now, he still could not glimpse the secrets within the Immortal Tomb.
“However, you might be able to go and try.”
“This seat can take you inside and let you get as close to the immortal coffin as possible.”
“Whether it can be opened or not depends on you.”
Guardian One said.
“Good!”
Qin Wushang nodded.
“Cough, cough... Senior, Senior, can we drink a few more cups before setting off? It would be a waste not to drink this wine!”
Dao Man patted his round belly, his hands tightly clutching the wine pot while his head was buried over the cup as he poured non-stop. His fat trembled; he didn't look like a high monk at all.
This was a precious immortal wine brewed from the starry sky. Every extra drop increased one's cultivation; not drinking it would be a massive loss!
“You bald thief, how can you be so greedy for wine? Where do you get the face to call yourself a man of the cloth?”
Jiang Chengqiu immediately frowned and scolded him.
Dao Man immediately pressed his palms together and chanted a Buddhist name with a serious expression: “Amitabha! This poor monk is an authentic Buddhist Disciple with a heart of compassion, holding the cup as his heart, and never harboring deluded thoughts.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he quickly filled his cup again, chuckling as his fatty face bunched up like a flower.
“It's just that this wine is truly too fragrant and too wonderful!”
“This poor monk simply feels a yearning for the most beautiful things in the world. I cannot help myself, I cannot help myself!”
“My sin, my sin! My sin, my sin!”
