32: The plot has changed
There are three days left until the Donghai Martial Arts Grand Competition.
At this moment, Lin Feng was training frantically.
He wanted to make a name for himself in this competition and, while he was at it, become the King of Donghai.
Over the years, the Donghai Martial Arts Grand Competition had been an occasion for the Three Great Families and various minor factions to compete, divide interests, and establish their status.
The Ling Group didn't deign to participate at all; in Ling Tianshi's eyes, these competitions were no different from children playing house.
While Lin Feng was obsessed with his training, his phone rang; it was a call from the head of the Su Family, Uncle Su, whom he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Hello, little friend Lin? There's an underground auction tonight. Do you want to attend?"
Lin Feng was clearly taken aback.
"This auction is underground and is primarily a cocktail party for everyone to interact and expand their networks.
The items being auctioned are strange and varied, such as cursed daggers and so on," Uncle Su said with a tone of concern.
"Furthermore, there might be the century-old blood lingzhi that you need, little friend Lin.
I think you, who are currently breaking through to the fifth rank, should be very interested."
"..." Lin Feng frowned slightly.
He was indeed interested, as century-old medicinal herbs were definitely useful for his cultivation, but hearing Uncle Su's voice actually made him feel uneasy.
Instinct told him that Uncle Su definitely wanted something from him.
He was no longer the youth who had just arrived in Donghai.
These families had always been driven by profit; they wouldn't lift a finger without a gain.
"Strange and varied?" Lin Feng asked curiously.
"That right, little friend Lin. I heard there are many treasures that can change Feng Shui and ward off evil.
Of course, whether they are real or not remains to be seen."
"Alright," Lin Feng replied.
"Then shall I send someone to pick you up tonight?" Uncle Su asked cautiously.
"Alright," Lin Feng readily agreed.
In the past, he would have shaken his head and refused, then played the pig to eat the tiger.
But being suppressed multiple times by Ling Xian had taught Lin Feng a lesson.
If you play the pig to eat the tiger for too long, you really become a pig.
After finishing the call, Lin Feng stood up and felt his body.
Brimming with power, he felt he could kill ten of his former selves.
"Fortunately, Master left me some treasures before he died, otherwise I really wouldn't have been able to keep up with the cultivation progress."
Now, Lin Feng's cultivation was already at the fourth rank, even reaching the late fourth rank.
It hadn't even been half a month; it seemed Lin Feng had obtained quite a few treasures.
On the other side, listening to Ling Wu's report, Ling Xian chuckled to himself, "A century-old blood lingzhi! And Lin Feng is also attending the auction? It seems the plot has changed.
This auction definitely holds opportunities beyond the original plot. Is it preparation for Lin Feng's participation in the Donghai Martial Arts Grand Competition?"
Ling Xian originally thought the century-old blood lingzhi would have to wait for the appearance of a new Child of Destiny, but he didn't expect it was still prepared for Lin Feng.
This taught Ling Xian one thing: when a Child of Destiny plunders too many opportunities, it triggers events that transcend the original plot.
"Ling Wu, prepare an invitation. I will also attend this auction," Ling Xian ordered.
Ling Wu nodded.
For this auction, this was giving a bit too much face.
Usually, his young Master wouldn't spare a glance at such a small auction.
But Ling Wu said nothing; he knew the young Master must have his reasons for doing this.
Since the young Master inherited the Ling Corporation, he had made almost no mistakes.
Even a newcomer like Hu Yourong had great potential... The auction was set up privately and wasn't a formal one.
Strictly speaking, it could only be considered a cocktail party that just happened to have an auction function.
It was held in a private mountain villa located in the suburbs of Donghai, where the environment was exceptionally quiet.
Ling Xian changed into a simple casual outfit. Stepping out of his rolls-royce Phantom, he saw many luxury cars parked at the entrance.
So-called BMWs and Audis could only be considered low-end here, and there was no shortage of luxury cars like Lamborghinis and Porsches.
The license plate numbers were even rarer: 12345, five 6s... Of course, none were as eye-catching as Ling Xian's car, which had five 9s.
Not long after Ling Xian walked in, Lin Feng arrived.
Seeing so many luxury cars, he thought to himself, "It seems there are still many wealthy people in Donghai.
I fought for my life on the battlefield and only saved up a billion in assets, yet these people just quietly do business in Dragon Country, and by ignoring their consciences, the money keeps flowing in.
My path to going legit is imminent!"
This time, Lin Feng was quite well-behaved, wearing an awkward custom-made suit.
He handed the invitation to the security guard and went inside easily.
Why not hide his identity and show off?
Fear of failure!
"This kind of wealthy person's posturing is also quite good; my previous style was a bit stiff.
As expected of Dragon Country, it has long been at the forefront of the times," Lin Feng remarked, looking at the respectful demeanor of the security guard.
"Wow, so many desserts!" Chi Taohua followed Ling Xian into the auction, her eyes lighting up.
"Eat if you want. Remember, in Donghai, you don't have to worry about what anyone thinks, except for me.
Only I can bully you!" Ling Xian pinched Chi Taohua's little cheek and said.
Chi Taohua covered her cheek and picked up a cake to eat.
Ling Xian's words were not wrong; the Ling Group alone was equal to the Three Great Families combined.
Unless it was someone from the political world, but in that case, Ling Xian's grandfather wasn't someone to be trifled with either.
This was the confidence the Ling Corporation gave him; unless a group of Children of Destiny used a coalition of most forces, Ling Xian really couldn't imagine how the Ling Corporation could fall.
While Ling Xian was waiting for the auction to begin, a physically strong man walked over.
"Are you that Ling Xian?"
"That's me. And you are?" Ling Xian asked, puzzled.
"Du Chenyang!" Du Chenyang said proudly.
Instantly, the plot related to him flashed through Ling Xian's mind.
Du Chenyang was a scion of the Magic City's Du Family and also a minor villain.
He was one of Hu Yourong's suitors.
After meeting Hu Yourong once, he was attracted by her simplicity.
Unfortunately, he eventually went to the army for training, and thus missed his chance with Hu Yourong.
Of course, this was all Du Chenyang's wishful thinking.
In reality, Hu Yourong didn't even know who he was.
This part of the plot was originally supposed to feature Du Chenyang as a rival who appeared when Lin Feng, helped by the Business Queen Hu Yourong, expanded his business to the Magic City.
Now, it had actually happened ahead of schedule.
And it seemed to have shifted onto himself.
"Good. Stay away from Hu Yourong, or else I'll make things difficult for you, Ling Xian," Du Chenyang threatened.
Ling Xian laughed, looking at Du Chenyang as if he were an idiot.
"You should ask Yourong's opinion yourself. If she agrees, I'll let her leave right now."
"Yourong?" Du Chenyang felt like the sky was falling.
He originally thought Ling Xian only had the favor of recognizing her talent, and he could just provide some benefits later.
Hearing this intimate form of address, Du Chenyang couldn't lie to himself.
"You are not welcome here. Please leave," Du Chenyang said with a gloomy face and a cold tone.
"Get lost!" Ling Xian's eyes were sharp, and his single shout caused everyone present to look over.
Du Chenyang's expression changed drastically. He suddenly reached out to push Ling Xian, only to find that the kid didn't budge an inch.
He said angrily, "Kid, does your Ling Family really want to oppose me?"
"What if we do? What if we don't?" Ling Xian's gaze was indifferent.
He didn't take Du Chenyang seriously at all; he was just someone meant to be bullied by a Child of Destiny.
"Do you know who I am?" Du Chenyang thought he had heard the biggest joke.
"I've been training with the army since I was sixteen, and my family is the Du Family of the Magic City. Whether it's combat strength or background, I'm stronger than you."
"Now, what do you think?"
