27: Chapter 27 A Personal Visit: An Incomparable Great Being
"Chen Mo!"
In the same virtual room, White Phoenix caressed the divine relics longsword in his hand, softly murmuring Chen Mo's in-game ID.
"Master, your friend request has been accepted."
A virtual sprite, bearing an eighty percent resemblance to Yu Mo but with wings formed of ice crystals, suddenly appeared before White Phoenix.
"Accepted!"
A glint of light flickered in White Phoenix's pupils as he prepared to rise, but then he halted mid-motion.
"Better to wait. I'll act after I master the second-order Divine Soul defense technique."
"Master, didn't you win? Why care so much about that defeated opponent?"
The virtual sprite looked at White Phoenix with confusion, its snowflake-patterned eyes full of bewilderment.
"You don't understand. If this were reality and his Realm were close to mine, I would have died too. So strictly speaking, it was a mutual kill, not a victory!"
A rare solemnity flashed in White Phoenix's eyes. That sensation, which reached straight into the Soul, as if to annihilate both life force and Divine Soul, was truly unbearable.
He had always believed that with high enough Law comprehension and the enhancement of the divine relics 'ice soul', no one of the same Realm could rival him, let alone trade kills.
But that player named Chen Mo had done it.
...
"Master, '56' is requesting entry to your virtual room."
Just as Chen Mo had accepted the two friend requests, Yu Mo's voice came again.
"Who is this person?"
Chen Mo did not immediately agree, running through possibilities in his mind.
First, he had never told anyone his virtual ID, so '56' was definitely not an acquaintance from the Main World.
Random search and add? Though possible, he found it too coincidental.
"Wait..."
Chen Mo's breath caught as a possibility struck him.
"Let him in!"
Chen Mo looked at Yu Mo.
"Yes, Master."
The next moment, a figure appeared in the virtual room—it was Administrator 56.
"Hello, Chen Mo."
56 addressed him by his real name immediately, indirectly confirming Chen Mo's suspicion.
"Hello, Administrator... sir!"
Chen Mo gazed at 56, who looked like a dispirited middle-aged man, his mind churning with turmoil.
He knew he had attracted the attention of the Virtual Universe, but he hadn't expected them to come so quickly.
"First, I must apologize. Several of your ten placement matches were deliberately arranged by me."
"No need to apologize, sir. I understand you meant well."
By now, Chen Mo had figured it out. While the arena did increase opponent strength with consecutive wins, the last match had been too extreme.
Based on his past experience in the Myriad Domain Arena, White Phoenix's real strength was definitely beyond Gold III—possibly Diamond or even the higher 'Star Scar' tier.
"I'm glad you understand." 56 smiled, but then his expression turned serious. "Chen Mo, I formally notify you on behalf of the Virtual Universe that you have been included in the god nurturing program. I will follow the Virtual Universe's regulations and, respecting your personal wishes, find a suitable 'investor' for you. Do you agree?"
Hearing 56's statement, the last stone in Chen Mo's heart lifted, but he suppressed his excitement and replied solemnly.
"I agree to follow the Virtual Universe's arrangements. Thank you, Administrator."
"No need to thank me!" 56 reverted to his amiable smile. "In fact, I noticed you the first time you entered the Myriad Domain Arena. I also sent that anonymous email.
Honestly, you surprised me—even delighted me, especially your battle with White Phoenix." As he spoke, a list appeared in his hand.
"Chen Mo, how much do you know about the god nurturing program?"
"Not much, only that I can receive investment from certain factions." Chen Mo answered truthfully.
"That's not wrong. I will indeed recommend you to some factions. However, compared to 'ordinary geniuses' who barely meet the standards, you will have more autonomy."
With that, 56 handed the list to Chen Mo.
"I've carefully trimmed this list. Although all factions qualified for the god nurturing program are strong, there are still differences. The names remaining are all top-tier factions. Take a look."
Chen Mo took the list, and his pupils instinctively contracted.
It wasn't that he was easily impressed, but the names on the list were astonishing.
[Main World Federation · Godslayer Army] {The Federation's First Army}
[Main World Federation · Lighthouse] {Lamplighters for outer domain exploration; a super-organization under the Federation with high autonomy}
[Pantheon] {The Federation's largest deity organization; minimum entry requirement is True God (formal member); founded by the Federation's top Dao powerhouse 'Xuan'}
[Universal Cosmic Consortium] {The Federation's top consortium, Federation-owned, with abundant capital and the most generous resource packages, but with greater restrictions}
[Spirit Capital, Meng Clan] {One of the oldest deity families}
...
After reading the long list of names, Chen Mo's head buzzed.
To be honest, he recognized almost all of these factions, and had even dealt with them personally.
Now, having to choose one among so many was a real dilemma.
As if anticipating this, 56 directly said, "Chen Mo, would you like to hear my thoughts?"
"Please, go ahead." Chen Mo put down the list and looked at his 'benefactor'.
For Chen Mo now, what he lacked most was a 'backer', and what 56 brought was more than just a backer—it was a 'giant's thigh'!
"I discussed this with a colleague earlier. Based on your current performance, you're guaranteed at least an a-rank contract from any of these factions. I can assure you of that."
Chen Mo's eyes lit up again, but he didn't speak, sensing 56 had more to say.
"Heard of an s-rank contract?"
Chen Mo shook his head.
In both his past and present life, he had only heard of the god nurturing program without knowing the specifics.
"An s-rank contract is the highest-level investment contract offered by some top factions. Any Genius who obtains an s-rank contract, if they survive, will at least become a main god, or even higher. For example..."
Chen Mo frowned. Although 56 was still speaking, he couldn't hear a single word.
"Sorry, I forgot that the 'true names' of those great existences cannot be directly mentioned. Fortunately, this is the Virtual Universe; 'He' probably can't sense it."
56 realized the issue, but Chen Mo's mind was reeling.
Unnameable!
Great Existence!
Wow, which Supreme Being is this?!
