135: Chapter 135 Heavy Armor Against the Enemy, Blood Demon Displays Its Power
Chapter 135: Heavy Armor Meets the Enemy, xueming mysterious armor Displays Its Might
Wang Shan stood at the center of the first sub-Formation, his crimson flame saber resting on his shoulder as the fifty thousand armored soldiers behind him completed their Qi and blood connection.
As the waves closed in within ten zhang of the shield wall, he raised the crimson flame saber, the blade pointing directly at that group of Scale Demons clad in fish-bone heavy armor.
"Not a single half-step back! Bring out every single skill taught to you in the Shura Field!"
Three thousand Shield Soldierss sank their waists in unison, the bases of their profound iron heavy shields plunging into the nether earth, seamlessly aligning the Qi and blood Formations of the xueming mysterious armor with the Formation bases beneath their feet.
The first rank of Scale Demons slammed into the shield faces, door-panel-wide bone forks piercing into the armor Formation. Massive force rebounded along the fork handles, causing large swathes of the soil beneath the shield wall to crack open.
More than a dozen Shield Soldierss slid back several feet, but the two layers of armored soldiers behind them immediately braced against their back plates, distributing the impact across the entire military Formation.
The second batch of Scale Demons leaped off the shoulders and backs of the vanguard, bone forks stabbing diagonally downward from above, their tips bypassing the heavy shields to drive into the breastplates and shoulder guards of the Shield Soldierss.
Nine blood veins lit up simultaneously, the power on the bone forks being completely swallowed by the armor plates, diverted along the shoulder guards, breastplates, and leg armor, and then violently counter-shocked back along the point of penetration.
The Scale Demons rushing at the very front had yet to pull back their weapons when their two arms failed to withstand the returning massive force, their bones and scales shattering together into bloody mist.
The Scale Demons in the rear rows were still charging forward, crashing head-on into their armless clansmen. The army Formation instantly jammed into a chaotic cluster, dozens of bone forks getting wedged between the shield walls, unable to advance or retreat.
The nine blood veins on the xueming mysterious armor continued to operate, and with every exertion of force by the Scale Demons, even more impact was sent back into their own bodies.
Some Scale Demons had their sternums shattered by the tail ends of the bone forks, while others had their shoulders cracked, collapsing into the seawater before they even touched the shield wall.
In less than a quarter of an hour, several layers of corpses had piled up in front of the Formation, dark green blood mixing with the seawater and flowing to both sides along the shield Formation.
Carlo stood at the other end of the fissure, staring at the altar projection. Its four arms stiffened in mid-air, and the bone staff meant to urge on the tidal waves lingered and failed to come down.
In past conquests against the Mechanical Race, the Sea Clan, and weak orc divine realms, it had never seen legion armor capable of reflecting melee impacts identically back.
The Human Race shield wall had not utilized high-tier Laws; relying solely on the armor, the military Formation, and the coordination of fifty thousand men, it had forcefully withstood the charge.
The detected traces of expansion truly existed, but the ley lines of this divine realm had long since stabilized, and the foundation of the legion was completely opposite to expectations.
A green-scaled commander stood below the altar, the arm holding the trident tightening. The wounds left behind from being kicked down by Carlo earlier were still bleeding.
"Divine Lord, this human legion's battle armor possesses counter-shock properties. If the vanguard continues to charge, it will only send the power back into their own bodies."
Carlo turned its head back, the grayish-green flame at the tip of the bone staff pressing toward the altar, causing the surrounding Scale Demon priests maintaining the passage to lower their heads one after another.
"Fill it with your lives! The rear army will continue to charge by stepping over the corpses. Whoever dares to stop will be fed to the sea along with their entire clan!"
The vanguard must absolutely not retreat. If the initial offensive was squarely rebuffed by the Human Race, several commanders would inevitably seize the opportunity to make trouble.
This war was tied to the control of the divine realm. Once defeated, the commanders of various cities lacking resources would unite to seize the ocean and the altar.
The divine decree fell into the fissure, forcing the twenty thousand Scale Demon vanguard to continue pressing forward. The supervision team in the rear raised their bone bows, shooting down any clansmen attempting to turn around.
In front of the shield wall, the corpses of the Scale Demons piled higher and higher. Subsequent Formations stepped over the corpses to cross the shield surface, descending in swathes of bone sabers hacked toward the heads of the Shield Soldierss.
Wang Shan stood within the Formation, temporarily withholding his saber. He merely directed the military Formation's power toward the three nodes under the heaviest pressure, leaving the new recruits to handle things themselves.
Three bone sabers simultaneously struck the shoulder guard of a young Shield Soldiers, his knees sinking into the mud as the armored soldiers behind him immediately caught his Qi and blood node.
The blood veins guided the saber force into the ground, causing the bone sabers in the hands of the three Scale Demons to snap with a crisp sound. The saber backs rebounded against their chests, flipping them back into the pile of corpses.
The young Shield Soldiers drew the short blade at the side of his leg, piercing through the abdomen of a Scale Demon along the shield gap, then withdrew his blade and returned to Formation without chasing out even half a step.
Wang Shan's gaze swept across this Formation position, his crimson flame saber knocking heavily against the shield surface: "Only now can this be considered the basics! Hold your ground, and don't let hard-earned military merits slip away through the shield gaps!"
A few chuckles and curses rang out inside the shield Formation. The tension weighing down on the new recruits dissipated, and the thirty-six sub-Formations operated increasingly smoothly.
The Ancestral Court Formation tower had been relocated behind the Northern Nether Earth. Wang Mu stood on the main platform as the spirit-detecting disk lit up with dense spots of light, marking all the Scale Demons that had lost their weapons and arms.
He did not order the Heavy Armor Army to launch a proactive assault; the narrow passage was advantageous for the shield Formation's defense, and charging outward would instead yield space for the Scale Demons to leverage their numerical advantage.
The Scale Demon vanguard had been thrown into disarray by the counter-shocks, while the rear army was still squeezing forward. With orders disconnected between the front and rear, it was precisely the time for the Sword Qi Battalion to make its move.
Wang Mu took down the main platform's command flag and pressed it downward toward the front of the shield wall: "Sword Qi Battalion, close the net. First clear out targets that have lost their weapons, and avoid our own armored soldiers."
Three thousand Purple Mansion Cultivators formed hand seals in unison, and Flying Swords rose from behind the shield wall, transforming into hundreds of sword teams following the Formation markings.
The Flying Swords grazed past the upper side of the shield Formation, piercing one by one through the throats and skulls of the armless Scale Demons.
Some Scale Demons raised shields to parry, but the Flying Swords immediately changed direction, leaving them to be handled by the Shield Soldierss and spearmen, while the Sword Qi Battalion continued to clear out exposed targets.
Before long, several thousand Scale Demons jammed in front of the shield wall fell. The subsequent vanguard lost their footing and could only charge by stepping over the corpses of their clansmen.
The higher the corpses piled, the more chaotic the Scale Demons' Formation became. The Shield Soldierss didn't even need to raise their shields; they simply used long spears to seal off the passage above the pile of corpses.
Wang Mu's command flag shifted, and the front-row Shield Soldierss staggered apart into three gaps to the left and right, actively letting in hundreds of Scale Demons who had lost their Formation.
Believing the shield wall had been breached, the Scale Demons scrambled to charge into the gaps, only to collide head-on with the heavy armor saber Formation that had been waiting for a long time.
The Shield Soldierss on both sides closed back together, and long sabers slashed down from all directions. Hundreds of Scale Demons were trapped within the Formation, having not even the room to turn around.
Wang Shan stood at the core of the military Formation, watching batch after batch of Scale Demons being divided and dealt with. The Battle Intent that had been suppressed on his face for a hundred years gradually smoothed out.
Having undergone a hundred years of tempering, this fifty-thousand-strong Heavy Armor Army no longer required him to personally plug gaps, and new recruits could also complete encirclements and killings according to orders.
Over half of the twenty thousand vanguard were lost, and the seawater in front of the space fissure was dyed thoroughly with dark green blood. The surviving Scale Demons finally refused to throw away their lives in vain any longer.
The Scale Demons in the front rank dropped their bone forks and turned to charge toward the fissure. The rear supervision team fired several rounds of bone arrows consecutively, but still could not suppress the retreating tide.
Carlo crushed a reconnaissance Formation Plate, and grayish-green Divine Power surged from the altar into the seabed. Several Deep Sea Demon Lizards bound by iron chains let out hisses.
These colossal beasts were the only remaining assault trump cards within the divine realm, all possessing Golden Core-level physical bodies, and usually required swallowing massive amounts of flesh and blood to maintain their Qi and blood.
After seven of them were lost in the previous war against the Mechanical Race, the remaining five had stayed at the bottom of the sea and were never easily deployed.
Right now, with the vanguard army unable to shatter the Human Race shield wall, keeping the giant beasts in reserve no longer had any meaning, and Carlo could only throw out its true Formation-breaking unit.
"Release the chains! Let the Deep Sea Demon Lizards enter the passage and trample that group of human shield walls to pieces for me!"
The Scale Demon priests chopped the chains, and the five Deep Sea Demon Lizards stepped on the seabed stone steps to rush onto the altar. Their massive bodies squeezed the space fissure, causing it to vibrate continuously.
The remnant soldiers of the vanguard hurriedly avoided them to both sides, yet hundreds of Scale Demons were still trampled into the water by the demon lizards, the sound of breaking bones echoing throughout the passage.
The Deep Sea Demon Lizards charging at the very front knocked open the pile of corpses, their thick forelimbs slapping toward the shield wall. The Physical Body strength of the Golden Core level pressed the Formation curtain inward, causing it to cave in.
Thirty Shield Soldierss spat blood in unison, several cracks splitting across the Formation bases beneath their feet. The surrounding armored soldiers quickly filled into the nodes, forcefully blocking the giant claws outside the Formation.
Wang Mu immediately mobilized the Rejuvenation Formation, dragging the wounded back to the second line as new Shield Soldierss stepped into their original positions, leaving not a shred of vacancy in the military Formation.
Failing to achieve results with a single strike, the demon lizards opened their mouths to spew out a large swath of dark green venom. The fishy stench spread along the surface of the sea, pouring backward along the shield wall into the Formation.
The Formation Maintenance Team activated the purification Formation Plate, but the venom carried Golden Core-level corrosive power, and the outer Formation curtain only lasted a few breaths before being corroded through.
The venom fell toward the front-row armored soldiers. The soul-cleansing bone patterns on the chest of the xueming mysterious armor lit up entirely, and the Qi and blood Formation propped up a three-inch barrier along the armor surface.
The dark green venom pressed against the outside of the barrier, emitting a piercing corrosive sound. The armor plates and Formation patterns never once became contaminated with the toxic water.
Thousands of profound sets of armor connected with each other, distributing the pressure of the venom to various parts of the military Formation, while the soul-cleansing bone patterns continuously eliminated the alien Divine Thoughts within it.
The venom that lost the sustenance of Divine Thoughts fell to the ground and was guided to both sides by the long-spread purified ground Formation, failing to injure the saber soldiers and spearmen behind the shield wall.
The five demon lizards spewed in turns, a green water curtain covering the entire battle line, and the Qi and blood barriers outside the xueming mysterious armor fluctuated along with it.
Wang Shan stepped out from the Formation, dragging the crimson flame saber across the ground and carving out a steaming trench amidst the sewage.
"With just this little capability, you dare to run wild in the Divine Lord's territory? In the Void Realm, have the Scale Demons starved away even the strength they had when suckling on milk?"
A burst of loud laughter broke out among the front-row armored soldiers, but driven by Carlo's divine decree, the Deep Sea Demon Lizards continued their assault, attempting to exhaust the Qi and blood of the military Formation relying on their Golden Core physical bodies.
Wang Shan hoisted the crimson flame saber back onto his shoulder and turned his head to look toward the northern mountain ridge, where two hundred heavy cannons had completed loading.
"Artillery Battalion! Teach this scaly lot what it truly means to break a Formation!"
Two hundred Purple Mansion heavy cannons raised their muzzle points in unison, the pure Yang fire liquid within their gun chambers already boiling.
