8: Cultivation is like drinking water

Su Yi felt that there was something a little off about the disciple he had taken in.

Originally, it was only because Yu Zhen had begged him at the risk of his own life, and the kid's Physique was indeed somewhat interesting.

Taking a disciple was merely to add a little fun to his currently boring life.

But this disciple had indeed exceeded his expectations.

Seven or eight days had passed since he took him in, and Su Yi felt as if this hilltop was being managed by an automated System.

The yard, which was originally overgrown with weeds, was now clean and tidy.

The vegetable garden, where things used to grow crookedly, was now meticulously maintained.

The meals, which used to be just enough to fill the stomach, had now become three dishes and a soup every day.

The roof and yard walls, which had been falling apart, were now renovated and replaced.

Clothes that used to pile up for half a month without being washed were now hung on the clothesline in the yard within fifteen minutes of being taken off... His lifestyle of 'living if I can, and struggling through if I can't' had now become orderly.

Gu Wanquan paid his respects every morning and evening, which even forced Su Yi into a regular daily routine.

Su Yi, who was pretending to be an otherworldly expert and didn't want to lose face as a Master in front of his disciple, was finally starting to crack.

Although this life of being served, with clothes and food provided without effort, was quite nice, Su Yi, who was used to being casual, still couldn't quite stand it.

Finally, on the morning of the ninth day, Su Yi opened his eyes reluctantly amidst Gu Wanquan's respectful morning greeting outside the door, determined to have a good talk with this "unprofessional" Disciple of his.

Eating a steaming hot bun and taking a sip of rice soup, Su Yi looked at Gu Wanquan, who was standing respectfully to the side, and said earnestly, "Little Quan, if you have nothing to do, you should Cultivate more. Why aren't you young people Cultivating properly!"

"Master is right to lecture me, this disciple has taken it to heart!" Gu Wanquan said with a smile on his face.

Su Yi looked at Gu Wanquan, who had a smile on his face no matter what he said. For a moment, he wondered if he had taken in a fool.

He munched along, wanting to ask about his disciple's cultivation progress, but Su Yi found himself unable to speak for a long time.

He didn't have any cultivation himself, nor could he sense the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, so he didn't even know where to start if he wanted to provide guidance.

Gu Wanquan also looked at Su Yi with some confusion; he sensed that his Master was currently quite conflicted.

In his previous life, in order to become the number one under heaven and the second Sword Immortal after the Aotian Sword Immortal, he had devoted his entire heart to Cultivation. He had haphazardly dealt with the trivial matters his Master assigned.

His Master had also warned him: "In this life, if one is too obsessed with certain things, they will surely neglect other beautiful things!"

Now, having lived another life, Gu Wanquan finally understood the meaning of his Master's words. He only wanted to stay by his Master's side and live out this life peacefully.

It seemed that he had placed too little importance on Cultivation, leading his Master to start urging him to Cultivate again.

"Is Master worried that I am falling behind in my Cultivation?" Gu Wanquan asked softly.

Su Yi's eyes lit up: "Exactly, Cultivation is a very important matter. When I was your age..."

"Swoosh!"

Gu Wanquan raised his hand and pointed a finger; a strand of pure Sword Intent directly shattered a tile on the wall.

Under Su Yi's dumbfounded gaze, Gu Wanquan calmly lowered his hand and said softly, "Rest assured, Master, this disciple has not fallen behind in his Cultivation."

Holy crap?

What was that just now?

What kind of thing did this kid just fire off with a 'swoosh'?

Externalizing True Qi?

It's only been nine days?

My disciple can already externalize True Qi?

I remember that's something only a second-rank Cultivator can do, right?

Su Yi looked at the fragments of the green tile at the foot of the wall, then back at the calm Gu Wanquan, and asked with a dry laugh, "Not bad at all. What rank are you now, kid?"

Seeing his Master's shocked expression, Gu Wanquan felt a strange sense of satisfaction. With a smile, he pretended to be ignorant and said, "What rank? This Disciple doesn't know either. Last night, I discovered I could launch the True Qi inside my body like that, but Master hasn't taught me about this yet, so I don't know what it represents!"

Playing the pig to eat the tiger in front of his Master—this feeling was truly fantastic!

Hearing Gu Wanquan's words, Su Yi was also stunned for a moment. It seemed... probably... other than throwing a notebook at this kid, he hadn't taught him anything, right?

He could externalize True Qi yesterday, which means that relying on a single notebook, this kid reached the second rank in eight days?

At this moment, Su Yi had an illusion: could this kid be a fellow countryman who Transmigrated here with a System?

Su Yi looked at Gu Wanquan and said out of the blue, "Odd changes, even stays the same?"

Seeing Su Yi's suspicious gaze, Gu Wanquan inwardly cried out 'not good.' He then asked with a face full of innocent confusion, "Master, are these five words the divisions of Realms?"

Looking at the normal-looking Gu Wanquan, the confusion on Su Yi's face grew even deeper.

He's not a Transmigrator. Could this kid really be a Genius?

Seeing his troubled Master, Gu Wanquan felt that he should hide his abilities more in the future.

That wasn't externalized True Qi just now, but Sword Intent that only a Fifth-tier Great Cultivator could comprehend.

Gu Wanquan, who had reached the level of a Ninth-Rank Great Cultivator in his previous life, would have no problem breaking through to become a Fifth-tier Great Cultivator in a single night if he so desired.

The fifth tier was already a height that ninety percent of the practitioners in this world could hardly reach in their entire lives.

But Gu Wanquan had his own plans; he didn't intend to Cultivate before this.

Because after the fifth tier, besides the slow grinding work of tempering True Essence, one also needed to find their own Dao.

Gu Wanquan, who had already decided to abandon his Dao from his previous life, already had a plan in mind.

Gu Wanquan was in no hurry; Opportunity would sometimes deliver itself to the door.

While playing the pig to eat the tiger in front of his Master was fun, if he performed too excessively, it would still arouse his Master's suspicion.

As for whether Su Yi could distinguish whether his move just now was externalized True Qi or externalized Sword Intent...

Gu Wanquan knew very well that his Master could not tell the difference.

Although his Master had an endless Lifespan and unpredictable methods, his Master's greatest flaw was a lack of understanding regarding Cultivation.

He clearly had no cultivation, yet he could beat any Cultivator to a pulp.

Any Cultivator!

Even now, he couldn't see why his Master was so strange.

The Master and disciple each held their own thoughts, tacitly skipping over the minor matter of Cultivation.

How did it feel to take in a Genius disciple?

Su Yi felt it was putting a bit of pressure on him.

Having lived for so long, what kind of Genius hadn't he seen? In the end, they all died anyway.

Because he had seen too many Geniuses, Su Yi wasn't overly surprised by Gu Wanquan, who could externalize True Qi after nine days of Cultivation.

He had seen Peerless Geniuses who broke through three Realms in a single night!

Reaching the second rank in nine days was, in his understanding, considered a Genius, but only an above-average one among Geniuses.

But this gave Su Yi a sense of defeat. He could keep the house in perfect order, was a Cultivation Genius, had a good personality, and always smiled brightly and gently.

Taking in such a god-tier disciple made Su Yi, the Master, feel like he had no presence at all, making him seem quite incompetent!

Because he felt slighted in front of his disciple, Su Yi, who ate half a bun less for breakfast, shook his head in annoyance and prepared to go fishing.

Gu Wanquan, who was clearing the dishes, kept his smile as he watched a listless Su Yi walk out of the house carrying a fishing rod.

The smile on Gu Wanquan's face gradually faded into a calm expression.

On this midsummer morning, the wind already carried a hint of heat, yet it brought a chill as it blew into the yard.

Gu Wanquan lowered his gaze, the coldness on his face intensifying. He silently returned to his room and changed into clean clothes.

His True Qi retracted into his body as he flipped onto the wall and looked toward the distant mountains.

His handsome face was covered in frost as he narrowed his eyes at the river between the distant mountains, his smile bright and gentle:

"It seems today is the day my dear frenemy, my Second Junior Brother, flees here in panic!"

"My dear Junior Brother, I can't wait to stomp and break your limbs!"
