1: Chapter 1 Meteorite from Outer Space

January 22, 2025, Blue Star Calendar, the Little New Year in China.

Wang An had just finished eating and was lying lazily on the bed, one leg kicking restlessly.

His fingers scrolled up and down on his phone, and a piece of national news popped up.

"According to reporters, at 8 o'clock tonight, Asia will experience an extremely rare meteor shower. It is the largest in history and the shortest in duration. Experts have pointed out that its specific cause is still unknown,"

Glancing at the star-studded night sky outside the window, Wang An felt a spark of interest; he wondered what this record-breaking meteor shower would actually be like.

Thanks to the well-known Dayun Express, Wang An had the good fortune of becoming a transmigrator, initially thinking he would embark on the protagonist's path of a tycoon or a literary plagiarist.

As it turned out, having only awakened the memories of his past life at eighteen, he had relied solely on the limited adult thinking from his previous life and studied hard just to get into a first-tier university.

Learning is something that requires talent and an educational environment.

Both his lives were in ordinary rural families; even if his parents valued education, it is very difficult for rural children to get into prestigious universities.

Therefore, rather than being a transmigrator, Wang An was more like an ordinary person who had gained a bit more experience with life and death.

Naturally, he lacked the expectations and curiosity typical of this age regarding many things.

'"Life! It's just like that."

He didn't want to continue the life of a workhorse like in his previous life.

Thinking about this, Wang An picked up his phone and climbed to the roof.

In the countryside now, new houses are basically small Western-style buildings, with a large flat rooftop.

Wang An usually liked to be here, setting up a reclining chair, stretching his whole body, and quietly gazing at the brilliant galaxy, feeling his own insignificance and the grandeur of the universe, until he became one with it.

Today, the weather was clear and cloudless; the stars were as brilliant as ever, and the galaxy swayed.

Just as Wang An was immersed in it and unable to extricate himself, some stars that didn't exist began to appear in the night sky.

They gradually brightened, moved, and dragged out long trails; one, two, seven, eight—more and more, faster and faster, brighter and brighter.

Faced with such a scene that shook the universe, besides being shocked, he also had some small expectations; after all, a life that you could see the end of at a glance was boring.

He immediately propped up his body and took out his phone to record it.

The meteors slid across the sky, just like raindrops on an umbrella on a rainy day—dense, flowing, and leaving traces behind.

Gradually, some meteors escaped their trajectories.

In Wang An's eyes, they were like fireworks, but fireworks flying toward him.

Before his eyes, more than a dozen crashed into the endless mountain forest behind the village, and his phone faithfully recorded the impact points of these meteors.

This meteor shower lasted only 20 minutes, but they were concrete and real; their arrival told Wang An that this was real.

Just when he thought it was over, an inconspicuous meteorite flew straight toward the location of his house. Before he could be surprised, he hurriedly ducked into the room.

"Bang," a dull sound rang out.

Wang An cautiously returned to the spot and approached it.

The concrete floor had been blasted into a basketball-sized crater, kicking up clouds of dust.

A gentle breeze blew, revealing the scene inside: it was a fist-sized, metallic-lustered meteorite, and there were faint, mysterious patterns on the meteorite.

After confirming there was no heat, and not caring about radiation or heat or anything like that, he felt that perhaps the variable lay right here, and he had to seize this opportunity.

Wang An's hands trembled as he slowly picked it up.

The moment he made contact, a stream of information entered Wang An's brain.

[Intelligent Life job-change successful, profession panel activated]

[Name: Wang An Essence: 1 Qi: 1 Spirit: 2 Talent: Incarnation Profession: Intelligent Life]

[Incarnation] Function: Possess an Incarnation in an independent space-time. He is your alter-ego in a different space-time; you are him, he is you, capable of shifting between virtual and reality.

[Intelligent Life] Function: The profession panel provides real-time feedback of Professional information to the job-holder.

Skill: Job Guidance, based on your soul and space-time characteristics, provides Job Guidance lower than your level.

The appearance of this information made the corners of Wang An's mouth gradually curl up. Countless conjectures surfaced in his mind, various novel ideas drifted by, and he picked up the still-warm meteorite, quietly examining it.

After the patterns on it faded, a flame of ambition burned in his eyes.

After digesting this information, Wang An slowly calmed down.

His parents came up from downstairs, "Xiao An, what was that sound just now?"

"Mom, Dad, come over and look."

Wang An's parents looked at the crater on the concrete floor and the meteorite in his hand.

"Xiao An, is this a meteorite?"

"Yes, take a look."

He handed the meteorite in his hand to his parents. Seeing their natural expressions, he felt a little disappointed, even though he knew this meteorite had already been used.

"This kind of meteorite should be able to sell for some money. Let me check if there are any buyers online?"

"Okay, you decide how to handle it yourself. Your dad and I both support you."

After comforting his parents for a while, Wang An took the meteorite and returned to his bedroom, placing it on his computer desk.

He threw himself onto the bed, recalling the past: the secret joy of awakening past wisdom, the arrogance of being a transmigrator, the despair upon discovering the ordinariness of the world and his own mediocrity, and finally, indifference.

He seemed to say to himself, "Everything starts from today."

He swiped on his phone; tonight's meteor shower had surged to the number one trending topic, and he watched the dense meteors in other people's videos.

Remembering that he had also recorded it, he looked back at the mysterious patterns on the meteorite that disappeared in that video.

Wang An felt that the meteorite capable of job-change was definitely not an isolated case; it was very likely that this abnormal meteor shower all had this function.

Furthermore, according to the hints given by the profession panel, changing to other professions also requires a job-change stone.

Thinking of this, Wang An sprang up and dashed to the computer desk.

He opened the map on his computer and the video of the meteorite impact points on his phone, began to calculate, and marked the approximate impact point of each meteorite on the map.

"On Blue Star with a population of 7 billion, just judging from the number of meteorites seen online, this is destined to be a scarce resource."

"If every meteorite can help with a job-change, then these meteorites will soon be sought after by capable organizations. If I go to collect the meteorites myself, not to mention how many I can find, how would I safely store the ones I can't use up?"

"Given the nature of those big shots, if they knew it was me who collected all those meteorites, they would definitely stop at nothing. The key lies in what identity I use to collect them."

He thought of his talent.

"Whether to quit while I'm ahead this time, or to try to become a fat man in one go, all depends on this talent!"

Thinking of this, Wang An calmed his mind and, following a faint attraction, gradually gathered his consciousness into a space between virtual and reality.

An illusory body of Wang An stood still. Wang An's consciousness touched this body, which gradually solidified, and the perceptions of the two bodies converged into his consciousness.

Wang An could feel that within this 10 * 10 * 10 space, he could modify this body through virtualization. He could modify it within a certain range, but it would synchronize and refresh with the main body after one day.

The Incarnation observed its surroundings in this space, but there was nothing there, just some white light shining in from outside the space.

With a thought, the figure of the Incarnation appeared in the room, identical to Wang An, multitasking and synchronizing perceptions.

The Incarnation picked up the meteorite, which disappeared and reappeared in the space, carefully savoring these changes. Wang An breathed a sigh of relief; the final piece of the puzzle for his plan was complete.

Wang An lay back on the bed, thinking: "Starting tomorrow, the Incarnation will go into the mountains to collect meteorites, striving to finish within three days."

"As for being seen by others in the village, I can modify the Incarnation into a completely unfamiliar person. Even if seen, no one will know who it is. This way, I can develop stealthily without exposing myself."

He pulled up the profession panel. Since it is a job-change, my second profession could be [Student]. What other professions are there?

Thinking of this, he used [Job Guidance], and information about [Student], [Martial Artist], and [Qi Refiner] emerged.
