73: Chapter 73 Slaying the Rat King, the Ferocious Rat Swarm (Fourth Update)
"You few stay here and hold this position. If the rats chew through, use your weapons to deal with them.
This group of rats is so organized; there must be Mutant creatures leading them. We need to find them as soon as possible; we still aren't sure exactly how many rat swarms there are."
Seeing this, the others could only stare at the spot, drawing their machetes and waiting for the rat swarm to emerge.
He quickly walked to the edge of the rooftop and looked down, discovering a dozen or so rats slowly climbing up via the water pipes in the corner of the building.
Without a word, Incarnation raised his foot and kicked the water pipe attached to the wall, sending it crashing down.
The rats fell along with the collapsing pipe.
However, Incarnation estimated that given the roughness of the wall, the rats could still potentially climb up. He immediately called two people over to guard the edge.
There was no sign of the target he wanted around this building.
He immediately picked up his binoculars and scanned the surroundings, surveying the area.
Just a few dozen meters away, on the rooftop of another building, seven or eight rats were watching in this direction. One of the rats stood on its hind legs, pointing towards the Exploration Team, while the few rats beside it seemed to be awaiting orders.
"That must be a Rat King."
It seemed that seeing the few members of the Exploration Team on the rooftop had not resulted in the rats attacking them, the Rat King became somewhat exasperated and immediately dispatched a few rats, as if issuing some kind of order.
Having found this Mutant Rat King, Incarnation took out five Molotov cocktails he had prepared in his space from his backpack.
He handed them to Liu Tingquan, who was nearby. Old Zhao and Old Cao were responsible for watching the door. Mo Yuemei and Chen Yanshan were watching the surrounding walls to prevent any rats from sneaking up; among the whole team, his combat capability was the weakest.
Incarnation instructed.
"Keep a close eye on the door and the surroundings. If you see a large group of rats rushing over, light the Molotov cocktails and throw them. This is our last resort. In dangerous situations, you must use them."
Liu Tingquan didn't expect the captain to entrust such an important task to him; he felt immense pressure and nodded heavily.
After giving the instructions, Incarnation went to a corner position on the opposite side where the Rat King couldn't see him, and with a few leaps, he reached the ground.
He casually killed a few rats that spotted him.
Incarnation carefully crept toward the location of the Rat King.
The Rat King was still observing the people on the roof, but as it watched, it suddenly noticed that one person was missing and didn't know where he had gone.
It was a bit confused.
By this time, Incarnation had already crept to the building where the Rat King was located; there were dozens of rats distributed nearby, keeping watch.
"They are too scattered."
These rats were in groups of two or three every dozen meters, and they could still see each other.
It was impossible for him to sneak up to the Rat King without making a sound.
He decided not to hide anymore and burst into top speed. The cement road he stepped on left marks, and the mud ground was dented with deep pits.
He stepped directly onto the balcony of the three-story villa and leaped up in two or three jumps.
Seeing a human approaching, the other rats let out shrill squeaking sounds.
The Rat King on the floor above finally realized that another creature was approaching.
But by the time it wanted to investigate, it was already too late; Incarnation had already rushed onto the rooftop.
The Rat King looked in shock at this human who had flown up from downstairs. After a brief moment of hesitation, it immediately turned and ran.
The other rats beside the Rat King rushed toward Incarnation without a word, seemingly trying to cover the Rat King's escape.
"These rats are so well-trained in their response."
With a sweep of his leg, he kicked the group of rats away. The rats kicked against the wall had their brains splattered and bodies mangled.
He pulled out the Compound Bow from his back and fired an arrow.
"Whoosh."
Just as the arrow was about to reach the Rat King, it suddenly swerved, narrowly avoiding the shot.
The armor-piercing arrowhead embedded itself deep into the cement ground.
Seeing that the Rat King was so agile, Incarnation jumped over, wielding his machete.
However, the Rat King had already run to the edge of the platform, where a drainpipe was situated right under the eaves. The Rat King immediately slid down the drainpipe.
Kicking the water pipe down, Incarnation didn't even think and jumped down after it.
The Rat King, currently panicked by the collapsing pipe, was suddenly struck by a flash of cold light from above; the machete split it directly in two.
The surrounding rats, preparing to rush over to rescue their leader, saw their Rat King cut in two by Incarnation and fell into some kind of unknown berserk state.
They let out angry, shrill cries toward the sky. "Squeak~~ Squeak~~"
Seeing this, Incarnation felt a bit uneasy.
Because this shrill sound was loud enough to reach the Exploration Team. Although he didn't know what effect this cry had, it certainly wasn't good for them.
These death-defying rats, with their eyes glowing red, immediately rushed toward Incarnation.
Incarnation was in a hurry to return and didn't have time to deal with this swarm of berserk rats.
With a speed they couldn't possibly match, he left them far behind.
Back at the Exploration Team, the stainless steel door had already been chewed into several large holes, and a few rats had already squeezed their heads through.
Old Zhao and Old Cao, who were nearby, didn't hesitate and stabbed in with the knives in their hands.
Frequent stabbing made the rats afraid to gather around the hole.
The other rats on the sides were still constantly expanding the area of the entire hole.
Just then, shrill cries came from the distance.
Hearing this sound, the numerous rats went berserk, their eyes completely bloodshot.
They desperately squeezed toward the hole that had been opened, or used all their strength to tear at the iron sheet.
Blood flowed from their mouths due to scratches; many rats had blood all over their mouths, appearing extremely cruel and terrifying.
Liu Tingquan, who was nearby, saw this scene and knew he couldn't wait any longer; he was somewhat excited, like a child about to light a firecracker.
Although this firecracker was a little bit big.
"Get out of the way, I'm going to throw the Molotov cocktail."
He urgently warned Old Zhao and Old Cao, who were next to the stainless steel door, and threw the lit Molotov cocktail at the stainless steel door.
The others saw him throw the lit Molotov cocktail here.
"Fu...!" Before the curse could be finished, they quickly dodged to the side.
"Bang!" The Molotov cocktail shattered, gasoline splashed, and a fierce fire erupted, swallowing the rat swarm behind the stainless steel door.
Although the fire from the Molotov cocktail blocked their view, everyone heard the screams of many rats; the Molotov cocktail had been effective.
This kind of power was extremely lethal against such a large number of rats.
However, what they didn't know was that as the rats in front were burned, the rats behind continued to push forward, gradually spreading the fire to the sides.
In the middle, rats began to advance forward.
As the screams gradually decreased, the others also felt that something was wrong.
The expressions on their faces became increasingly serious.
After all, there were not a few of these rats; it was impossible to burn them all to death at once.
"Look!" Mo Yuemei shouted.
They saw a black shadow appear within the flames, gradually rushing toward them.
It wasn't until a few rats rushed out of the fire that everyone realized that this group of rats was actually so fearless of death. Even with such a large fire, they were still coming to attack them.
