Chapter 162: Taming the Dragon Devouring Slime?

As the group of three left the dungeon town together and soon found the dragon devouring slime that had grown several meters tall and wide at this point in time, the eyes of the new branch guild leader started shining-"I-I never expected to see a legendary slime like the dragon devouring slime after reading about them back at the royal library, let alone one that’s this huge! I want it!"

And so, before the guild leader or the crimson flame knight had time to stop her, she rushed forward. Heading directly towards the massive slime filled with excitement at the prospect of taming such a large and powerful slime.

"No! We have to stop her, there is no way for her to tame such a powerful slime with her current strength."

Seeing this, the guild leader began panicking as he rushed forward to try and stop the new branch guild leader before she could do something that would end up endangering all of them.

"This is why I hate people like this..." Shaking his head as he muttered this to himself while watching the two running off, the crimson flame knight looked over towards the large dragon devouring slime in the distance with a cautious expression on his face.

Although he didn’t yet have a chance to try and properly fight it, he understood at a glance that he had absolutely no way to deal any real damage to such a massive slime. Past experience had taught him this and so had the things he had managed to learn about slimes over his many years as an adventurer.

As for jumping forward to save the branch guild leader who was eagerly rushing toward this massive slime like the guild leader had done, the crimson flame knight didn’t do this, but instead just decided to watch how things played out as he slowly followed after the two.

Different from the guild leader who was still not that experienced with these slime maniacs, he understood full well that they were far smarter than they let on.

If this new branch guild leader decided to try and tame the dragon devouring slime, it could only mean that she really did have some confidence in succeeding in taming the slime.

Even if this wasn’t the original goal, it was more than fine in the opinion of the crimson flame knight, as the task could be considered completed the moment the dragon devouring slime had been tamed. Allowing him to get as far away from the Howling Caverns as possible before he ended up getting involved with this new branch guild leader anymore than he already had been...

Noticing the group of two people rapidly rushing towards it a few seconds after they had started rushing towards it without any attempt to hide themselves, the dragon devouring slime responded in a happy manner as it saw the new food rushing so willingly towards it without showing any sign of escaping.

Not showing the slightest care towards the woman who had a few slimes bouncing around on top of her or the one chasing after her. In the eyes of the current dragon devouring slime, all of them were prey, be it the two humans or the slimes on top of the human.

"Hehe, look at how excited it is~ I’m sure it will become a great friend for my other slimes." Seeing the dragon devouring slime bouncing towards her in a way that she could tell was both excited and happy, the new branch guild leader let out a smile as she stopped and began searching through the small bag, she had been carrying along with her. Giving the guild leader enough time to catch up to her.

"You! Our goal is to kill it, not tame it! Trying to tame it will only end up putting all of us at a far greater risk!"

"Don’t worry, I know about this kind of slime and although its already considered extinct, information on it isn’t that hard to find. For one, it doesn’t just randomly devour humans or monsters. Instead, it only targets those with some kind of dragon blood inside them or those who threaten it.

As long as we don’t threaten it, we will be fine... And taming it should also be relatively simple to accomplish with a bit of dragon blood."

"Dragon blood? YOU HAVE DRAGON BLOOD!? How did you even get something like that!?"

"Don’t worry, its only inferior quality dragon blood, no big deal. More than enough to tame a single dragon devouring slime." Shaking her head like it really wasn’t a big deal for her to have something like dragon blood on her, the woman found what she had been looking for, as she pulled out a small vial filed with some kind of red liquid from her bag.

"This... It’s really dragon blood!" Seeing this vial, the guild leader could not help frowning to himself as a look of disbelief appeared on his face. Never having expected to see something legendary like dragon blood.

After all, dragon blood was notoriously hard to gather. Not just because of the rarity of monsters with dragon blood flowing through them, but also because the method to collect the dragon blood was incredibly difficult and required several specialized people capable of preserving and storing the dragon blood to be present.

"As I said, there is no need for you to worry."

Seeing that this young branch guild leader seemed far more prepared than he first expected, the guild leader decided to remain silent and just wait to see how she planned on taming the dragon devouring slime. After all, the dragon blood she had taken out was more than enough to show how serious she was about this matter.

As expected, she does indeed have some kind of plan...

At the same time, the crimson flame knight arrived a few meters behind the two, as he looked towards the dragon blood in the hands of the branch guild leader with an unsurprised expression on his face. Having already expected her to have something to rely on when it came to taming the dragon devouring slime.

As for the rarity of the dragon blood... It wasn’t much in his eyes, as he himself had been on several missions in the past that required him to collect dragon blood of the same and even higher quality than the dragon blood in the hands of the branch guild leader.

Of course, this was mainly because of the difference in strength between him and the two guild leaders, as he was still among the strongest A Rank Adventurers in the entire kingdom.

Dragon blood, though rare to people at the B Rank, could be acquired with relative ease by those at the A Rank. At least when it came to dragon blood of inferior quality. Higher quality dragon blood was a different matter...

Unaware of what the little branch guild leader was planning to do, the dragon devouring slime still ended up coming to a stop as it suddenly saw her pull out the small vial from her back.

However, this did not last for long, as it soon realized what was inside the vial following the branch guild leader pulling out the small cork that had sealed it. Allowing the thick smell of dragon blood to spread through the surroundings-

Boing~! Boing~! Boing~!

Instantly causing the dragon devouring slime to bounce around even more excitedly than before, as it soon moved close to the branch guild leader who had now gently spread some of the dragon blood on the ground in front of her for the dragon devouring slime to absorb.

Thump~!

And not disappointing the branch guild leader, the dragon devouring slime did just as she had expected, as it landed on the ground in front of her and began to suck up the dragon blood, causing the branch guild leader to slowly retreat while spreading out more dragon blood and allowing the dragon devouring slime to slowly get closer to her-

"It’s time!"

And when the dragon devouring slime had devoured most of the dragon blood and was right in front of her, the branch guild leader covered one of her hands with the remaining dragon blood before sticking it into the dragon devouring slime without any hesitation.

"Wha-?!"

"..."

Under the shocked gaze of the guild leader and the narrowed eyes of the crimson flame knight, the branch guild leader slowly activated some kind of skill as countless small tendrils began spreading throughout the body of the dragon devouring slime. Trying to reach the core at the center of the body to successfully tame the slime-

"Huh?"

Thump!

However, before the branch guild leader had the chance to succeed in taming the dragon devouring slime, it suddenly seemed to sense the threat, as it stopped devouring the dragon blood and instead rolled over. Landing directly on top of the surprised branch guild leader, who was completely swallowed up as a result of the unexpected move of the dragon devouring slime.
