Chapter 7: Battle with an Immortal!

Boing Boing~Finally making down to the bottom of the spiral staircase, Scaly was immediately scared out of her mind, as a giant creature slimy green creature appeared a few dozen meters in front of her.

Whoosh!

Not even thinking about looking around her surroundings, Scaly turned around and hid beneath the spiral staircase she had just come down from.

Keeping a close eye on the weird slimy green creature in front of her, as it slowly began moving away before finally disappearing.

W-what was that!?

Scaly felt her small lizard heart almost jump out of her chest thinking about the weird slimy creature she had just seen; she was scared to the point that she had even forgotten to check out the creature’s status!

Calming herself down again, Scaly finally began to take in her new surroundings.

The first impression of the second floor of the dungeon was... Disappointment!

She had expected to end up somewhere similar to the first floor, with a lush forest and lots of sunshine for her to enjoy!

Instead, the second floor was an underground cave! The only light present was a few crystals on the wall...

Other than that, and even more urgently, there was nowhere for her to sleep, she also needed to worry about that weird green slimy creature she had seen earlier...

What if she just-

No, I can’t go back up! I’m a future dragon! There is no way I’m scared of some weird slimy creature!

Catching herself about to turn around and escape back to the first floor of the dungeon, Scaly stopped her feet from moving back up the spiral staircase.

There was no way a future dragon like her would back off from such a puny creature!

Hyping herself up even more, Scaly’s eyes shone with determination before she stepped back down from the spiral staircase and made her way through the wide tunnels of the second floor. Making sure to keep a lookout for any other slimy creatures that might be hiding around the corner!

I Finally found another one! Although this one seems a bit smaller than the last one...

After searching through the underground tunnels for a few minutes, Scaly finally chanced upon another slimy creature, albeit smaller than the first one she had seen. The color was even different, being red instead of blue.

Not escaping this time around, Scaly inched closer before she was able to bring up the status of the slimy creature like she had the oversized rat back on the first floor.

[Fire Slime, lvl 3]

Getting a little more information than she had expected from the description, Scaly just stared at the red ball of gooey slime as it bounced up and down in awe.

Infinite lifespan? The slime in front of her was an immortal!

Thinking about this, Scaly could not help but grow excited.

If she killed the slime, would she not be considered to have killed an immortal!? This would surely be enough for her to reach level 5 and begin her first evolution!

The more she thought about it, the more excited she grew, as she slowly began moving closer to the fearful immortal bouncing up and down in a carefree manner. Not expecting anyone to be nearby.

Boing Boing~

Bouncing around the cave, the fire slime bounced a little higher than normal and Scaly saw this as an opportunity.

Fwoosh!

Before the fire slime could react, it was suddenly hit by the water ball of Scaly. Instantly launching it flying into the nearby cave wall.

Boing~

However, this alone was far from enough to take down the fire slime, as it remained mostly unharmed from Scaly’s attack. Instead bouncing off the cave wall before flying over in the direction of Scaly.

Wha-!

Not knowing how react to the slime that easily withstood her water ball that easily killed off the oversized rats, Scaly could only look on shocked, as the fire slime crashed into her small body.

Whoosh~

Bang!

Launching her flying through the air before crashing into a nearby cave wall.

Boing Boing~

So- Strong...

Watching as fire slime slowly bounced closer to her, Scaly for the first time since reincarnating, felt the shadow of death hovering above her.

The fire slime would not spare her! And it was very clearly going to kill her!

Thinking about all of this, Scaly conjured a few more water balls and launched them towards the fire slime, however, it was of no use...

The fire slime remained unharmed before resuming its path over towards her...

I need something stronger...

Just as the fire slime was about to reach her, Scaly remembered the earth spikes that she had seen in the fight between the giant lizard and the strong group of humans.

Could she do it as well?

Fwoosh!

Not seeing any other way out of her current situation, Scaly used her last remaining mana to conjure forth two water spears before directing them towards the fire slime in front of her.

Boing-

The water spear silently flew forward before directly piercing through the fire slime.

Seeing the words that appeared in front of her, Scaly let out an exhausted sigh of relief before gazing over at the body of the fire slime, as she watched it slowly dissolve before disappearing. Leaving behind no traces of its existence other than a pool of red liquid.

Boing Boing~

Feeling a wave of excitement wash over her when she saw that she could finally go through her first evolution, Scaly was directly woken up by the familiar bouncing sound of a slime coming over from the distance. Perhaps alerted by the earlier battle.

I can evolve later, for now I need to find a safe place to stay!

Reacting quickly, Scaly did not stay around for long. Soon disappearing into a nearby cave tunnel.
