22: Chapter 22 Job Change Quest

Su Chen followed the long-legged assassin Chen Le into the main hall of the Assassin Guild, arriving before the reception desk.

Chen Le looked at his heavy suit of golden plate armor, then at the cross greatsword in his hand. Her brow furrowed tightly as she fell into deep self-doubt.

"Are you sure you're an assassin?" Chen Le confirmed again, her tone full of doubt. "Assassins wear light leather armor and use daggers for close combat. You're in plate armor with a greatsword—that's clearly a knight's setup. Calling you a heretic among assassins wouldn't be an exaggeration."

She thought to herself in exasperation: How did a Legendary-class professional allocate his stat points?

Ignoring the agility advantage of an assassin, he instead piled on Constitution and Strength, dressed like this. He probably can't even manage to Stealth.

Despite her internal Make complaints, Chen Le maintained her professional demeanor, taking out a registration form. "First, register your information. Fill in your name, level, and class. I'll take you to the outpost to register before you can accept the class advancement quest."

Su Chen took the form, picked up a pen, and wrote the two characters "Su Chen" in the name field.

Chen Le leaned over to check the information. When her eyes caught the characters "Su Chen," her pupils constricted sharply.

Her head snapped up to look at Su Chen. Her tone instantly shifted from cool and aloof to a soft, cutesy, slightly high-pitched voice, trembling slightly: "You... you're *that* Su Chen? The Legendary-class Shadow Hunter Su Chen? The one who reached Lv20 in a single day and solo-cleared a Nightmare-dungeon in six minutes?"

Her cheeks flushed crimson instantly, her eyes filled with pure admiration. All the doubts and exasperation from moments ago vanished without a trace, her attitude doing a complete one-eighty.

"Mm." Su Chen nodded faintly and continued filling out the form.

Chen Le's exclamation drew the attention of all the assassins in the hall. They gathered around, looking at Su Chen with awe and amazement.

"It's actually Big Boss Su Chen! A Legendary-class professional, truly living up to the reputation!"

"My god, he's already Lv20? It's only been a day since his awakening, right? That leveling speed is absolutely monstrous!"

"Legendary-class is just different. Even in plate armor, he's definitely destined to be a top-tier human powerhouse in the future!"

Discussions rose and fell around them. All eyes were fixed on Su Chen—respect, admiration, and envy.

Su Chen paid it no mind. He finished the form and handed it to Chen Le. "Done. Take me to accept the class advancement quest."

"Yes, yes, right away, Big Boss Su Chen! This way, please!" Chen Le hastily took the form and respectfully led the way, ushering Su Chen into the inner hall of the guild to avoid the crowd of onlookers. "Big Boss, the class advancement quest has different difficulty levels. Let me explain the amplification rules in detail."

She took out the advancement manual and began explaining seriously: "The first advancement quest is divided into one to five-star difficulty, with tiered attribute amplification. One-star gives a 5% boost, two-star 10%, three-star 15%, four-star 20%—all linear growth. But the five-star difficulty offers a 30% attribute amplification. It's a leap forward, but the difficulty is extreme. Very few can complete it."

After the explanation, Chen Le hesitated for a moment but still offered her advice: "Big Boss, I know you're a Legendary-class professional and incredibly strong, but the five-star difficulty is truly dangerous, with an exceptionally high mortality rate. Based on conventional wisdom, I'd recommend you choose four-star. It's safer, and a 20% boost is more than enough to overpower anyone at your level."

After listening, Su Chen's gaze showed not a flicker of hesitation. "No need. I choose five-star difficulty."

His goal was maximum combat power. A 30% attribute amplification, no matter how difficult, had to be secured.

Seeing Su Chen's firm resolve, Chen Le stopped trying to persuade him and nodded helplessly. "Alright, Big Boss. I'll take you to the Advancement Sanctum to accept the five-star quest. Only within the Sanctum can the five-star quest panel be unlocked."

Following Chen Le through the corridor, Su Chen arrived at the core area of the Assassin Guild—the Advancement Sanctum.

The Sanctum was spacious and solemn. In the very center stood a massive white jade statue, cloaked in a black robe, its face hidden in shadows, holding a pitch-black dagger in its hand.

It was the statue of the Assassin God, emanating a faint aura of shadow.

On either side of the Sanctum were placed five quest crystals, corresponding to one to five-star difficulty, each glowing with light of varying intensity.

Among them, the five-star quest crystal on the far right glowed the most dimly and eerily.

"Big Boss, the five-star quest is in the crystal on the far right. Just touch the crystal to accept the quest," Chen Le said. "I'll wait for you outside. If you encounter any problems, call for me anytime."

Su Chen nodded, walked to the five-star quest crystal on the far right, reached out his hand, and gently touched the crystal.

Instantly, a faint black light enveloped him, and a quest panel materialized before him.

[Quest Name: Twilight of the Gods—Genesis of Slaughter]

[Difficulty: 5 Stars (Solo only, no party allowed)]

[Level Requirement: Lv20 (Pre-first advancement)]

[Quest Objective: Travel to the Lv40 Secret Realm [Ancient Kingdom Ruins], slay the Fallen King · Agale, and retrieve the Fallen Crown from his grasp.]

[Quest Reward: First advancement, +30% to all attributes, unlock ×1 high-tier Assassin skill slot.]

[Failure Penalty: Lose 5 levels, cooldown times for all skills doubled, unable to accept class advancement quests again for 24 hours.]

Looking at the quest panel, Su Chen's eyes focused. "Twilight of the Gods"—this quest name highly resonated with his Mythical-class profession, God Slayer.

He made a bold speculation in his heart: this was no coincidence. Future high-tier advancement quests might indeed escalate step by step, eventually evolving into the ultimate assassination of deities.

"An Lv40 Secret Realm Boss. I'm currently Lv20, haven't even undergone my first advancement, and I have to solo a level 40 Boss. The difficulty is indeed outrageous." Su Chen murmured to himself, feeling immense pressure, but even more so, opportunity.

If he could complete this five-star difficulty quest, he wouldn't just gain the 30% attribute amplification. He could also adapt early to the intensity of high-tier secret realms, and there was a high possibility of stealing powerful skills from the level 40 Boss within the realm. It was a chance to kill multiple birds with one stone.
