18: Chapter 18 Disciples of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect
The attendant's words served as a wake-up call for Su Yang.
He even entertained the thought that if he could self-create a High-Tier Breath Concealment Art, he might even be able to self-create a foundation establishment pill.
"No, that won't work."
Su Yang immediately dismissed the ridiculous idea.
He could self-create the High-Tier Breath Concealment Art through hard work because he had a blueprint to reference.
He knew nothing at all about the foundation establishment pill; it would be like trying to create something from nothing.
Heaven Rewards the Diligent could accomplish many things, but it was impossible to conjure a Pill Formula for a foundation establishment pill out of thin air without a reference.
But if he already had the Pill Formula, what would be the point of 'referencing' it!?
Su Yang rubbed his temples, pushing aside his chaotic thoughts. He purchased several Breath Concealment Technique books from the beautiful attendant and then stocked up on a batch of Materials for Alchemy and making Talismans.
The Spirit Stones he had just earned from selling Medicinal Pills and Talismans were all spent in an instant.
Returning to the inn, Su Yang noticed his son wasn't there but didn't think much of it.
Taking advantage of the abundant resources in Guangling County, he planned to produce more Medicinal Pills and Talismans for sale to earn back the Spirit Stones he had just spent.
He immediately brought out his Materials and began Alchemy and drawing Talismans.
Meanwhile, Su Xuanheng, still wandering the streets, looked around like a lost Child, full of curiosity about everything around him.
Any random restaurant here could rival the Drunken Immortal Tower, making the streets and alleys incredibly lively.
There were also strange objects placed on the stalls of Cultivators, every single one of which filled him with great curiosity.
"Hey, Child over there, are you separated from your Father and Mother?"
A girl's crisp and pleasant voice called out.
Su Xuanheng instinctively turned to look.
He saw a young girl with a high ponytail, appearing to be fourteen or fifteen years old. She also held a long sword and had a heroic, spirited aura as she walked toward him.
"I'm talking to you, Child. Where are your Father and Mother?"
The girl spoke again, but her burning gaze told Su Xuanheng that she didn't actually care about the question she was asking.
"What does it have to do with you?"
Su Xuanheng frowned and replied coldly.
The girl raised her willow-like eyebrows and let out a 'heh'. "You Child really don't recognize good intentions. This big sister is just looking out for you."
"I don't need it. Also, stop calling me 'Child' every other word; you aren't much older than me."
Su Xuanheng didn't want to chat further and turned to leave.
However, the girl followed closely behind, talking as she walked. "Child, are you running away from home? If you have nowhere to go, come back to the Wan Jian Sect with me!"
"Wan Jian Sect? You're from a Sect?"
Su Xuanheng's expression tightened.
Due to his lack of knowledge about the Immortal Realm, he couldn't judge whether people from the Wan Jian Sect were good or bad.
But Sects had deep backgrounds and were not entities the Su Family could handle; it was best to stay away.
"Ha! That's right. I am indeed a Disciple of the famous Wan Jian Sect."
The girl patted her chest with a proud look.
She had expected Su Xuanheng to show a look of awe, but instead, he looked wary, which made her feel quite awkward.
This Child seemingly doesn't know about the Wan Jian Sect; this is going to be difficult.
"Child, my name is Wei Yan."
The girl continued, "Since you're holding a sword, you must be very confident in your swordsmanship, right? Do you dare to try the swordsmanship of my Wan Jian Sect?"
"What exactly do you want?"
With a 'clang', Su Xuanheng drew his sword from its sheath!
He couldn't figure out why the girl in front of him was looking for him.
His father had said that when you can't figure out a situation, drawing your sword is never the wrong move.
Wei Yan's eyes lit up at the sight. She followed suit, drawing her long sword and thrusting it toward Su Xuanheng with lightning speed.
The tip of Wei Yan's sword pierced the air, letting out a sharp whistle.
The moment Su Xuanheng blocked with his sword horizontally, a mountain-like pressure transmitted through the blade, numbing the webbing between his thumb and forefinger.
Before he could catch his breath, a second strike lunged toward his ribs like a venomous snake. He spun to dodge, the sword tip grazing his robe and tearing three inches of fabric.
The third strike was even faster! Continuous sword shadows transformed into dots of cold starlight.
Su Xuanheng's gaze narrowed. He rapidly swung his sword to block repeatedly, his eyes capturing her sword forms as he quickly calculated a counter-strategy in his mind.
The blades of the two collided, creating crisp sounds of clashing metal.
The power of every one of Wei Yan's strikes was controlled within the range of the Qi Refining First Layer, yet Su Xuanheng found it increasingly difficult to resist.
This was an insurmountable gap in swordsmanship!
This was the first time Su Xuanheng had encountered a Sword Technique he couldn't learn at a glance.
Every time he tried to counterattack, he would be seen through by the opponent first.
Slight sweat appeared on his forehead as he took successive steps back.
"Not good!"
As a white flash of light swept toward him, Su Xuanheng was startled. The cold, gleaming blade broke through his defense.
Just as the sword tip was about to touch the center of his forehead...
Wei Yan's sword stopped abruptly, stirring up a sharp Sword Qi that brushed past his cheek in an instant.
"How was that, Child? The swordsmanship of my Wan Jian Sect is pretty good, isn't it?"
Wei Yan smiled softly, twirled her wrist to perform a sword flower, and smoothly sheathed her long sword. She said triumphantly, "Do you want to join my Wan Jian Sect? It will surely become your new home."
Su Xuanheng's breathing was slightly labored, and cold sweat soaked his inner garments.
In just that moment, he felt as if he had experienced a flashback of his life before death.
However, the other party likely meant no harm. Judging by her words, she seemed to want to invite him to join the Wan Jian Sect.
Su Xuanheng fell silent for a long time before responding, "I have a Family; I don't need a new home."
Wei Yan was stunned for a moment and asked, "Where is your home? I'll go talk to your parents. With your talent in the sword, you should come to my Wan Jian Sect. Only the Dao techniques of the Wan Jian Sect can bring your talent to its peak."
Su Xuanheng: "This..."
...
Four High Grade qi gathering pills were fresh out of the furnace, leaving Su Yang in a pleasant mood.
His Alchemy skills had improved again; he could now stably produce four High Grade pills per batch.
Just as he was preparing to continue refining, his Divine Sense detected that his son had returned, and he had brought a girl with him.
"What's the situation?"
Su Yang was dumbfounded at the sight.
Did his son start dating early? Did he bring home a wife just after going out?
It wasn't his fault for thinking that way; after all, this little girl was only two or three years older than his son.
Su Xuanheng didn't know that girls developed early, but as a parent, Su Yang knew very well that this girl was at most thirteen or fourteen, maybe even twelve.
"Father, this person is from the Wan Jian Sect and wants to invite me to join her Sect."
Seeing his father step out of the room, Su Xuanheng explained immediately.
Su Yang turned his gaze toward the young girl, who smiled and cupped her hands in greeting.
"Wei Yan greets Uncle Su. I have come on behalf of the Wan Jian Sect to invite Xuan Heng to join the Sect."
Good grief, she says 'Xuan Heng' quite smoothly.
One would think Su Xuanheng had already joined the Wan Jian Sect.
"You can represent the Wan Jian Sect?" Su Yang asked curiously.
Wei Yan smiled heroically. "I am a Personal Disciple of the Wan Jian Sect's Sect Master; I have the authority to represent the Wan Jian Sect."
"Whoa, that's quite impressive."
Su Yang chuckled, then his smile faded. "It is Henger's good fortune to be noticed by the Wan Jian Sect, but he is still young and will not be joining any Sect for the time being."
Wei Yan immediately became anxious upon hearing this.
"Uncle Su, you might not be aware, but Junior Brother Xuan Heng's talent in the way of the sword is peerless. He cannot afford to waste his time."
What a 'Junior Brother Xuan Heng'!
Su Yang's lips twitched. He didn't dislike Wei Yan's familiarity, but he remained wary of Sects.
