Chapter 15 Colorful College Students

"Remember this for the future! Don't ask the boss such awkward questions!" Zhou Yan said irritably.

Is that something you can just bring up in polite conversation?

He could be shameless, but he had to protect his sister's reputation!

Zhang Yajing turned around, facing Zhou Yan with a smile, playfully tossing her long, dark hair with her hand before turning to leave.

As she left, she dropped one last line: "Call me 'Sister' from now on! Don't call me 'Sister-in-law'..."

Zhou Yan heard the sound of a door opening and closing in the hallway, and only then did he relax.

She lived right next door; if she had been further away, he would have had to walk her part of the way.

If the laborer he just acquired got intercepted by someone else in the hallway, Zhou Yan would be furious enough to die!

Clenching his fist slightly, the next step was to develop! Develop! Develop!

Important things must be said three times! Develop like crazy!

As soon as he stepped out, he looked up and saw two young men with multicolored dyed hair standing sloppily in the hallway, looking like they intended to knock on his door.

Zhou Yan frowned. Fortunately, he had resisted temptation earlier; otherwise, how would this be any different from a live broadcast?

Taking a glance, Zhou Yan realized for the first time that he couldn't find the words to describe someone's hair color.

Calling them "Yellow-hair" was too monotonous; they should be called "Dyed-hair" boys!

"Holy crap! Brother! Where did you get that cigarette? Do you have any more? Can you spare one for your little brother? Please!" Seeing the cigarette dangling from Zhou Yan's mouth and smelling the smoke wafting through the hallway, this "Rainbow-hair" kid's nicotine craving was instantly triggered, his Adam's apple bobbing involuntarily.

Zhou Yan walked over openly.

The two people outside the door were stunned, and then their eyes landed on the handgun spinning in Zhou Yan's hand.

"Gulp." Both of them swallowed hard.

"Brother, is that a model?" the youth asked cautiously, pointing at the gun in Zhou Yan's hand.

"Bang!" Zhou Yan raised his hand and fired a shot past their ears! The gunshot was deafening in the confined hallway!

The two of them shuddered in unison!

The bullet, ricocheting off the wall, shattered a window.

As the damp wind blew over the two youths, they shivered violently.

"You two better have a good reason for knocking on my door..."

"Uh... you... you... have you seen... someone with the surname Yang..."

"He's dead..."

"Oh... okay! Understood!"

The youth looked a bit dazed from fear, but he wasn't stupid enough to ask how he died.

"Um... the things we were supposed to give him... do you want them..."

"What things?"

"Medicine... some flour... and dried fish..."

"You aren't with him?" Zhou Yan had thought it was someone from that old bastard Zhang Limin's group coming to help!

"We... we haven't even graduated yet... it's a bit too early for us to be in the underworld..."

Zhou Yan took out a cigarette and tossed it to the youth with the most multicolored hair.

"For me?" The youth took it with trembling hands, feeling like he was about to fall apart, unable to understand what this big boss in front of him meant...

Is this a last cigarette? One to smoke before he's sent to his grave?

"It's for you. Smoke it!"

The youth looked incredulous, even pointing a finger at himself, his eyes filled with confusion and fear.

"You guys... are students?"

"Yes... we are from Qingyang Medical University..."

Zhou Yan's gaze turned cold; he raised the gun in his hand and pressed it against the youth's forehead.

"Are you bullshitting me!?"

Qingyang Medical University is one of the top-ranked universities in the country; who knows how many medical experts it has cultivated!

Someone like you, how are you any different from a thug? Could you really be from Qingyang Medical University?

Is the threshold for college students this low now?

The youth was so scared that his legs wouldn't stop shaking...

In his panic, he couldn't even open his mouth...

"N-no! Brother... I really am from Qingyang Medical University! I scored 625 on the college entrance exam the year before last... I'm nineteen this year, and I live at 201 Fulin Street, Shanyang District, Qingyang City..." Rainbow-hair rattled off quickly like he was reciting a textbook, fine beads of sweat seeping onto his forehead.

"Brother... me too..." the other youth quickly chimed in.

"No! He's bullshitting! He was recommended... he didn't even take the college entrance exam!" the dyed-hair youth shouted, pointing at his companion.

"What the hell? Wang Zeyu, you're selling out your brother! You animal!" The companion beside him was so angry he stomped his feet.

It seemed this one with the most hair colors was named Wang Zeyu.

"Your school allows you to dye your hair like that?" Zhou Yan looked skeptical. What kind of dyed-hair college student was this? Was 'Yellow-hair' already out of style?

His gun barrel shifted slightly, but he still maintained a threatening posture.

Looking at the skeptical Zhou Yan, Wang Zeyu couldn't help but inwardly grumble: what ancient relic crawled out of which tomb was this...

"I used my girlfriend's hair dye. I figured since we can't go out anyway, I might as well kill some time... Plus, having some color in my hair might make me look tougher in this building..." Wang Zeyu said weakly.

Zhou Yan looked at his colorful hair; it certainly didn't look like it had been dyed for two months. If it had been dyed for a long time, the roots would be black, and the color would be fading...

Looking at the two of them acting as if they were offering tribute to a bandit, Zhou Yan shook his head, then pointed to the dried fish in Wang Zeyu's hand and said: "Keep your things; I don't want them. Tell me more about the dried fish..." Zhou Yan's tone softened.

Wang Zeyu hurriedly took off his companion's backpack and pulled out a bundle of "unidentified objects" tightly wrapped in plastic bags.

"These are all dried fish... they're yours!"

"I don't want them, and besides, I wouldn't dare eat them!"

Zhou Yan reached out and squeezed the bag, which was carefully sealed in plastic. It was definitely dried fish. Hard as a rock.

This was actually pretty impressive. Right now, the houses were so damp you could wring water out of your clothes; how could they manage to dry fish?

Besides, it had been raining outside, and only today had the rain finally stopped...

"We formed a college student mutual aid society on the bottom floor... these are dried fish we roasted ourselves..."

"Have you eaten the dried fish?"

"We eat them every day!" Wang Zeyu answered naturally.

"How come you haven't turned into a purple eggplant?" Zhou Yan was shocked.

"That toxin is indeed very strong! But in the eyes of us medical students, it's nothing!" Wang Zeyu said with a cocky expression.

"Speak human..." Zhou Yan shook the gun in his hand.

"We try our best to catch fish with a low degree of mutation, then roast them slowly over charcoal. After they're dried and stored for a proper amount of time, the toxins lose their activity! But highly mutated ones are a no-go; you can't eat even a bit of the flesh of those fish!"

Zhou Yan frowned. "In the water... are there many highly mutated fish?"

"A lot. Right now, we can probably only catch a few of those low-mutation fish a day, and from my observations, the fish's mutation speed is getting faster and faster! No! Not mutation, it should be called some kind of evolution..."

Zhou Yan looked at the two college students in front of him, who had clear yet foolish eyes but a high level of professionalism, and asked: "Are there any female college students among you?"

Wang Zeyu didn't speak; instead, his companion immediately asked cautiously: "What do you want?" His voice carried a clear sense of protectiveness, which even temporarily outweighed his fear of the gun.
