Chapter 50 Steroid 5α-Reductase 2 Deficiency

"5α-Reductase 2 Deficiency..."

The middle-aged man shrugged and spread his hands.

"It's a real tongue-twister of a condition, and a rare one too. My family raised me as a girl until I was twelve. It wasn't until I started puberty that I discovered I was a boy, but it was already too late..."

"You just need to know that I'm not a woman, but in terms of sexual characteristics, I'm not a man either... I lack the standard hardware to be either of those two genders!"

Zhou Yan looked up at the cold ceiling.

If this middle-aged man joined his team, a scene like this would inevitably happen in the future:

Zhou Yan: "Men stand to my left! Women stand to my right! Everyone else, stay where you are!"

Then everyone would line up to Zhou Yan's left and right, leaving only this middle-aged man standing where he was...

"Ahem!" Zhou Yan coughed lightly to interrupt his own fantasy.

"Then your..." Zhou Yan traced a circle around his face, implying, 'Why do you have a beard?'

"Androgens can be supplemented later in life. If you take too much, this happens. It's perfectly normal!"

"But that's not the point!" The middle-aged man interrupted Zhou Yan.

But he was interrupted by Zhou Yan again: "No! That is the point! How do you go to the bathroom now?"

"I... I usually sit down to go..."

The middle-aged man said somewhat helplessly.

Zhou Yan realized his questions were becoming intrusive, so he could only reach out to signal the man...

This lady...

This brother...

Signaling the person before him to continue...

"After the heavy rain started, we've been drinking rainwater, but it's only been through simple filtration. Clearly, the filter cartridge isn't up to the task... If I live to see the day the flood ends, I will definitely find the merchant who sold me the filter material and kill him!" Wang Youde said, gritting his teeth.

"If the substances in the rainwater are gradually absorbed by the human body in small doses, it's possible for my situation to occur!"

"Wait! How can you be sure that you only have this kind of power because you drank rainwater? What if it's some other reason we don't know about?"

Zhou Yan interrupted the middle-aged man's explanation and asked.

The middle-aged man pointed to a boy in the crowd: "Xiao Liu, show them!"

Xiao Liu looked like a kind person, and Zhou Yan kept feeling like he had seen him somewhere before...

He reached out, walked in front of everyone, and opened his palm...

Everyone stared intensely at the empty palm...

One minute later...

Three minutes later...

Xiao Liu said somewhat embarrassedly: "Um... I've only had this power for a few days, so I'm not very familiar with controlling it yet... Don't rush! It's coming! It's coming!"

Suddenly, a bright little ball of light slowly appeared in Xiao Liu's palm, flickered a few times, and then extinguished...

"That's it?" Zhou Yan asked in surprise.

Just this?

What kind of doomsday new energy is this?

It can only provide light?

Xiao Liu was also very disappointed, but there was nothing he could do; his ability seemed to only be useful as a "light bulb" for now!

"This is the result of my experiments! But you can't blame me for using them as test subjects! We really had no water to drink!" Old Wang spread his hands, looking quite helpless.

"What should I call you?" Zhou Yan asked the middle-aged man before him.

"My name is Wang Youde, just call me Old Wang! But rest assured, I'm the kind of 'Neighbor Wang' that any neighbor can trust! Regardless of gender!"

"That's true..." Zhou Yan agreed.

Old Wang's physical condition could be verified by just one Bai Qi!

But this Bai Qi was not that Bai Qi; Zhou Yan was referring to Bai Qi, not the useless dog he raised that only knew how to eat, drink, poop, and sleep.

"Based on my experiments, as long as you consume rainwater slowly over a long period, you can possess this kind of power! I call this process... Awakening!" Old Wang said the term with a calm expression.

"Awesome!" Zhou Yan applauded.

He really guessed it right!

After all, the system called it that too...

However, with this method of Awakening, the abilities awakened seem a bit useless...

Those who became light bulbs acted as light bulbs, those who became lighters acted as lighters...

Not a single one of them is useful!

Zhou Yan looked at his [Shadow] ability on the system panel and fell into deep thought...

If natural Awakening only grants this kind of power, why are the abilities of that lady in Building 17 and Bai Qi so overpowered?

Even his own ability, obtained through the potion-induced Awakening, was ridiculously overpowered. Moreover, whether it was Bai Qi or the lady in the opposite building, they could use their abilities at will, naturally...

Not at all like Old Wang here...

"Do you all have any other abilities?"

Old Wang sighed; he understood...

The Young Man before him definitely knew about these abilities and had even deeper exposure to them than he did; he just didn't know the source of these powers...

Just by looking at the expressions on the faces of the people he brought, Wang Youde understood!

Each and every one of them had a look of disdain...

There wasn't a shred of shock or satisfaction...

"Yes!" Old Wang nodded.

"But there's no need to demonstrate. One controls water, one controls air... but they are hard to control, and sometimes they even malfunction!"

"And... her?" Zhou Yan pointed to the mermaid on the opposite sofa, who was listening intently, and asked.

"Xiaorou... her ability is just as you see... but her ability is uncontrollable. No one knows when she will turn into a mermaid or when she will turn back into a human..."

Zhou Yan disappointedly released his finger from the trigger guard.

"Ah... so she's not a mermaid..."

Old Wang's mouth twitched. You guy! What are you disappointed about!

Zhou Yan frowned as he looked at the girl tied up with iron chains. If what Old Wang said was true, why bother tying her up?

Old Wang understood the doubt on Zhou Yan's face and hurriedly explained: "Because Xiaorou's ability is uncontrollable, and most of the time she shows herself in this form. Just because I'm not afraid of her doesn't mean others aren't! Everyone from upstairs and downstairs is gathered in this room! I'm afraid she'll scare them..."

Zhou Yan slowly leaned closer to the "mermaid" and asked: "Can you talk?"

He could even clearly see the mermaid roll her strangely eerie purple eyes at Zhou Yan.

"I'm not a mute!" The voice was very pleasant, carrying a hint of childishness, yet the tone was excellent, soft as spring water...

Zhou Yan nodded in relief. Even that pair of mermaid husband and wife couldn't speak!

Looking at Building 17 in the distance, Zhou Yan suddenly felt that he should go have a chat with that lady across the way!

She must know something about her Awakening and Bai Qi's...

But when Bai Qi lived in Building 17, she didn't have many opportunities to see her, so there was absolutely no chance to read her mind...

Tsk...

"Alright! I've got it now. You all possess unique skills! You are definitely not ordinary people... My invitation to you still stands! Gather at the 6th Floor tomorrow. You bring them to catch fish for me, and I will provide food for you! That's it for today, I'm heading back..."

Zhou Yan got up to leave, but was stopped by Old Wang reaching out.

"Wait a second, brother... What... what should I call you?"

"Zhou Yan..."

"Good, Brother Zhou! Here's the thing, although I don't understand why you have such a big demand for that kind of poisonous fish, I can help you mobilize the residents on the upper floors to help you!"

"Tell me more!" Zhou Yan sat back down.

"It's like this: as for the residents on the 15th floor and above, everyone has actually suffered under Zhuo You for a long time! I will help you promote this among the high-rise residents tomorrow. Once they know you killed Zhuo You, they will definitely be very happy, and it will also help build momentum for you..."

"Wait!" Zhou Yan reached out to interrupt Old Wang.

"How do you know that I killed Zhuo You?"

Old Wang smiled without speaking, only pointing to the shotgun in Zhou Yan's arms.

"Alright!" This time, Zhou Yan really left.

He was in quite a hurry!

After all, he had obtained key information about Awakening from Old Wang, and now the lady in Building 17 across the way was also very important to Zhou Yan; he had to go meet that woman immediately!
