18: Chapter 18 The Auction (Part 3)

"Bang!"

Su Xin strode forward and slammed the window shut, cutting off the prying eyes from outside.

Luo Yunkai looked at Su Xin in surprise.

In his view, Su Xin didn't seem like the type to meddle in others' affairs, especially since he could sense Su Xin's dislike for him.

Su Xin lowered his head and said in a deep voice, "Once the auction house delivers the Xirang, you two should leave."

Xiao Tian nodded, "Father, Su Xin is right. We should go. The looks from those people just now..."

He frowned, "...were like they wanted to pounce and tear us apart."

He abruptly stood up, "Let's go. Let's leave right now. We don't need to wait for that blasted Xirang. I don't need it!"

As he spoke, he reached out with one hand to pull Su Xin and the other to tug at Luo Yunkai.

Su Xin dodged. Luo Yunkai didn't avoid it, but Xiao Tian couldn't budge him either.

"Su Xin?"

Su Xin turned his face away, "Xiao Tian, I can't leave. I need the longevity elixir."

"Besides, they're targeting you and your father. If I leave with you, I'd be in danger. Staying here is actually safer."

"Don't drag me down." Su Xin's words were ruthless, his face expressionless.

Xiao Tian pressed his lips together, his gaze fixed intently on Su Xin's face.

Su Xin didn't look at Xiao Tian. His eyes were fixed on the auction stage, his jaw tightly clenched.

Xiao Tian gave up, "Forget it if he won't leave. Father, let's go!"

Luo Yunkai found it amusing. He let Xiao Tian tug at him, but his body didn't move an inch.

Xiao Tian understood his meaning and looked over, full of confusion.

Luo Yunkai patted his Cheap son's hand, "Right now, leaving isn't that easy. Haven't you seen how many people are watching?"

"There's a secret passage here."

Luo Yunkai raised an eyebrow and looked at Su Xin with interest, "A secret passage?"

Su Xin said indifferently, "I can tell you the location of the secret passage."

Luo Yunkai stroked his beard. This... could work.

"Is it safe?"

Su Xin shook his head, "That depends on whether anyone who knows about the passage has their eyes on you."

Luo Yunkai chuckled, "If an Outer Sect Disciple like you knows about it, then probably quite a few people know about this passage."

Su Xin nodded, not denying it.

Luo Yunkai was momentarily speechless, then laughed, "But I suppose it wouldn't be too many."

Su Xin quickly glanced up at Luo Yunkai. His gaze touched the old man's wrinkled face, clearly flashing with disdain and puzzlement, before he lowered his head again, "Not too many."

"So I want three hundred thousand Spirit Stones. Three hundred thousand, and I'll tell you the location of the passage."

Under his wide sleeves, Su Xin's fists were clenched tightly, veins bulging under the thin layer of skin.

Xiao Tian looked at Su Xin, somewhat hurt and disappointed, and said resentfully, "It's just three hundred thousand. I'll give it to you!"

As he spoke, he took out his Storage Pouch and was about to toss it to Su Xin.

Su Xin sharply interrupted Xiao Tian's action, "I don't want yours!"

He pointed at Luo Yunkai, his face tense, "I want his. Doesn't he have a lot of Spirit Stones and like to show off? Then he can't blame me for knowing he has Spirit Stones and trying to swindle him!"

Luo Yunkai heard resentment directed at him in Su Xin's words.

He was utterly baffled.

Hold on, what are you resentful about?

Are we even that familiar?

Luo Yunkai laughed, "Fine. Three hundred thousand. I'll give it."

With a wave of his hand, a pile of Spirit Stones abruptly appeared in the room.

The moment the Spirit Stone pile appeared, the room door opened.

Su Xin glanced up at Luo Yunkai, pressed his lips together, and under the eyes of the maid delivering the auction items outside the door, stored these three hundred thousand Spirit Stones into his Storage Pouch.

His Storage Pouch wasn't small, but it already contained three hundred thousand Spirit Stones. This new pile only filled half of it before there was no more space.

The maid outside the door's eyes flickered. She spoke up proactively, "For auction Spirit Stones, our auction house provides Storage Pouches. Fellow Daoist, you can just put the Spirit Stones into this Storage Pouch."

Luo Yunkai raised his hand, took the Storage Pouch, and probed it with his Divine Sense. The one-hundred-square-meter space was quite empty.

Transferring four million Spirit Stones from his system space into the Storage Pouch, Luo Yunkai casually tossed it to the maid.

After checking with her Divine Sense, the maid cast a meaningful glance at Su Xin, lowered her eyes, and respectfully presented the Xirang.

Luo Yunkai immediately stored the Xirang properly. This was the guarantee for his future path to Immortal Ascension; he couldn't afford the slightest carelessness!

With the item in hand, Luo Yunkai signaled the maid could leave.

However, the maid was reluctant to leave. Her lingering gaze fell on Luo Yunkai. Inadvertently, the thin gauze on her shoulder slipped, revealing her fragrant shoulder and a hint of a pale, alluring cleavage. Her eyes held a subtle hint of provocation.

"Fellow Daoist may not know, but a transaction of four million is enough to qualify for the floors above the fourth level. For guests above the fourth level, maids are arranged to serve..."

She didn't specify how they were arranged, but her words seemed to imply she was the one arranged.

Xiao Tian's face instantly darkened.

Luo Yunkai's eyes appraised the maid for a moment, then he smiled.

Cultivators, nourished by Spiritual Qi, have fair skin and are rarely blemished. At the very least, they are all delicate and pleasing to the eye.

"Heh..." Luo Yunkai let out a cold laugh, "If four million only gets me goods like you, then forget it. The first floor is just fine."

Of course it was fine. For making a quick escape, the first floor was undoubtedly the most convenient.

The maid's face turned pale and then flushed. She watched helplessly as the door closed in front of her.

Resentment flashed in her eyes. She glared fiercely at the tightly shut door and stomped away angrily, as if afraid no one would know she was upset.

Seeing Luo Yunkai's actions, Su Xin's heart skipped a beat, but it was too late to stop him; the door was already closed.

"Don't you know it's easier to deal with the king of hell than his little minions? You..."

Su Xin suddenly realized that perhaps Luo Yunkai had already obtained the item he wanted from the auction, so he didn't care about offending the auction house staff.

He resentfully closed his mouth and rubbed his Storage Pouch.

He would become the target of their retaliation.

And his background had already been thoroughly investigated!

Luo Yunkai watched leisurely as Su Xin's expression changed unpredictably, finding it much more interesting than his previous gloomy demeanor.

Xiao Tian wasn't stupid. He quickly realized his father had just set up his sworn brother.

But his sworn brother had also tried to swindle his father.

Xiao Tian scratched his head. What a mess!

"Father, did you do that on purpose?" he asked, thinking he was lowering his voice.

Luo Yunkai nodded nonchalantly, "What? Is he allowed to swindle your old man, but your old man isn't allowed to swindle him back?"

Xiao Tian grew somewhat anxious, "No, it's just..."

"The secret passage is in this room. Actually, every room in the auction house has a secret passage, designed for those who reveal their wealth to leave discreetly."

Su Xin interrupted Xiao Tian, stood up, walked to the wall, and felt along it for a moment. He pressed hard on a specific brick, and the adjacent wall suddenly swung inward, revealing a pitch-black secret passage.

Xiao Tian went over, peeked into the passage, then grabbed Su Xin's arm and said earnestly, "Su Xin, come with us! We'll find a way to get the longevity elixir together."

Su Xin was silent for a moment before withdrawing his hand, "My mother... she doesn't have time. She only has half a month left. I must win the bid for the longevity elixir!"

So, I'm sorry!

For my mother, I must accept these Spirit Stones!

Xiao Tian couldn't force Su Xin. He could only look at his father, "Father, since Su Xin won't leave, then we should go."

Luo Yunkai shook his head, "Let's wait a bit longer. Let's see."

He thought to himself, what a coincidence. He also only had half a month left. The longevity elixir was also something he absolutely had to bid for.

He wondered how many longevity elixirs would be put up for auction. If...

Luo Yunkai's eyes flickered slightly. Well, his own life was still more important.
