57: Chapter 57 Jin Fugui's Parents
Shopkeeper Mo received Luo Yunkai's message and was somewhat surprised.
"Besides the Five Elements Spiritual Items mentioned last time, he actually needs an extra Wood Spirit and a Spiritual Fire, and the Spiritual Fire must be the extremely special wood life flame. What exactly is he trying to do?"
Shopkeeper Mo couldn't figure it out and took the message upstairs.
Standing at the entrance of the third-floor staircase, Shopkeeper Mo bowed slightly toward the Formation barrier on the third floor. "Young Master, your subordinate has an urgent matter to report."
Jin Fugui, who was Cultivating, opened his eyes.
Beside him, dense Spirit Stones were piled up. Strangely, his Cultivation was not absorbing the Spiritual Qi from the Spirit Stones nearby. Furthermore, something seemed to have been added to the surface of those Spirit Stones; the normally translucent surfaces now carried a faint golden hue.
Jin Fugui took out a space ring, stored this batch of Spirit Stones inside, waved his hand to open the Formation, and sent the space ring to Shopkeeper Mo.
Shopkeeper Mo accepted the space ring, his gaze showing no doubt, but his eyes held a trace of fanaticism, and his attitude became even more respectful.
"What is it?" Jin Fugui yawned and muttered quietly, "Cultivating is really tiring."
The fanaticism in Shopkeeper Mo's eyes froze, and he looked helplessly at the Young Master. "Young Master, it's Luo Yunkai."
Jin Fugui showed a hint of interest. "Uncle Luo, what's wrong with him now?"
Shopkeeper Mo replied respectfully, "Fellow Daoist Luo has made another request to our Duobao Tower."
"Oh?" Jin Fugui's expression cooled slightly. "That's it? Send a message back to arrange the goods. What, is the financial power my Uncle Luo has displayed still not enough? Even if it's not enough, my Great Ancestor plans to take Brother Xin's mother as a Personal Disciple. Surely that much weight is enough to silence those old guys at headquarters, right?"
Shopkeeper Mo lowered his head. "Your subordinate does not mean that. It's that the items Fellow Daoist Luo needs this time are somewhat special, which is why your subordinate came to report. Perhaps the Young Master will be interested."
Jin Fugui forced himself to look energetic. "Tell me."
"Fellow Daoist Luo requested to purchase a Wood Spirit and the Spiritual Fire, wood life flame."
Jin Fugui grasped the key point. "Is this in addition to the previous Five Elements Spiritual Items?"
"Exactly!" Shopkeeper Mo nodded.
Jin Fugui murmured thoughtfully, "The wood life flame is the gentlest among Spiritual Fires, the one Alchemists favor most. There are even rumors that the wood life flame can help improve the quality of Alchemy."
Shopkeeper Mo saw the Young Master's lips move but no sound emerged, realizing it wasn't something meant for him to hear, and waited silently.
"It seems my Uncle Luo truly treats his child well," Jin Fugui sighed, a hint of inexpressible envy in his eyes.
When Shopkeeper Mo heard the sigh, he couldn't help but look up at the Young Master's expression, and upon seeing the emotion revealed in his eyes, he quickly lowered his head again.
The Young Master's father... No wonder the Young Master considers Fellow Daoist Luo an uncle...
"Send the message back. If we have it, arrange the goods. If we don't have it, issue a bounty. Anyway, my Uncle Luo is not short of money." Jin Fugui gave this answer, which did not surprise Shopkeeper Mo.
He quietly retreated and sent the message back to the Southern Wilderness Headquarters of Duobao Tower.
...
Duobao City, City Lord's Mansion.
"City Lord, this time you must discipline the Young Master! He is getting more and more outrageous!"
"Exactly! How much value can there be in that region near the mortal Dynasty where the Spiritual Qi is thin, yet he keeps sending messages back requesting high-grade goods repeatedly? If we let the Young Master continue to be so reckless, Duobao Tower will eventually be ruined by him!"
"The Young Master established a branch without even consulting us, and now he even wants to transfer high-grade goods to that remote branch—not a chance!"
...
Five prosperous-looking middle-aged men stood indignantly, all pressuring the City Lord seated above them.
The City Lord resting her arm on the table was a snow-white jade arm, the red wood contrasting with the white, forming a magnificent picture.
Above the arm were alternating gold and jade bracelets. The heavy bracelets made one worry they might crush the slender wrist.
Above the splendor of jewels was half of a face cupped by a slender, fair hand.
Crimson lips, a petite nose, and slightly upturned peach blossom eyes formed a face of languid charm.
A head adorned with pearl hairpins and Magical Artifacts bespoke unimaginable wealth.
Jin Yuchan simply gazed at the five indignant Elders of Duobao Tower, the smile on her lips never shifting in the slightest.
As time passed, the voices of the five Elders grew softer.
"Yuchan, the Elders' worries are not unfounded. Fugui is being too reckless. You should call him back."
A gentle voice came from the doorway of the reception hall.
The five Elders seemed to find their backbone and looked uniformly toward Jin Yuchan, silently applying pressure.
Jin Yuchan ignored the five, looking tenderly at the tall, elegant man outside the door—the man she loved most in her life.
"Yi Shui, why are you here? Don't listen to outsiders talking nonsense. Our son didn't do anything wrong this time."
Kong Yishui's eyes flickered slightly, filled with disapproval. "Yuchan, you are protecting him too much."
Jin Yuchan chuckled lightly, stood up, and helped the frail Kong Yishui sit in the seat next to her, sitting intimately close.
Her entire body leaned against Kong Yishui, yet she didn't let him bear her weight, showing great consideration.
However, a trace of mockery flashed in Kong Yishui's eyes.
"Yi Shui, I am truly not shielding that boy Fugui this time. He really did something good. The newly established branch has already recouped its initial investment in just over a month. Everything after this is profit."
Kong Yishui's pupils trembled slightly. "How can that be?"
Jin Yuchan became displeased. "Yi Shui, you don't trust our son that much?"
Kong Yishui realized his lapse and gave a wry smile. "It's not that I don't trust Fugui. It's just that the child was too unreliable before and messed up quite a few things."
Jin Yuchan smiled. "That just shows that when children grow up, they should be allowed to fly. If they are always kept by their parents' side with someone backing them up, of course, they won't manage anything well."
"Yi Shui, you just spoil that child too much."
Kong Yishui smiled and changed the subject. "Since he managed it, why are the Elders gathered in the City Lord's Mansion today? I heard it was related to the building of the branch by Fugui in that remote place?"
Jin Yuchan swept a cold glance at the five Elders. "What else could it be? Nothing more than wanting to suppress our son, not wanting him to grow, and coveting my position as City Lord."
The five Elders remained impassive, as if Jin Yuchan's words were complete nonsense.
Kong Yishui sighed slightly. With the conversation reaching this point, it was difficult for him to interject.
"I thought Fugui had truly done poorly. Since that's not the case, I won't stay here long. You all discuss amongst yourselves."
What Jin Yuchan was most satisfied with was her Dao Companion's attitude: he never meddled blindly in the internal affairs of Duobao Tower.
Only when it concerned their son, for the sake of teaching him, would he step forward to say a word or two.
Jin Yuchan watched her Dao Companion leave, the tenderness in her eyes slowly replaced by coldness.
The five Elders in the hall became vigilant.
Jin Yuchan slapped the table, and the bracelets on her arm collided, emitting a crisp clanging sound.
"Someone placed an order and paid the price. In this matter of arranging goods for my son, is there any point that violates the rules of Duobao Tower, hmm?"
