7: Chapter 7 There's not much difference between immortals and mortals.

A wind whipped up abruptly, blocking Xiao Tian's path.

Xiao Tian looked down and saw wind wrapped around his waist, dragging him rapidly backward.

In this place, the only one capable of doing such a thing was his Immortal father.

Xiao Tian did not resist.

Luo Yunkai was very satisfied; this Cheap son truly suited his wishes in every way.

"Do you know why I didn't let you kill her?"

Xiao Tian pursed his lips. "Because matricide is a grave sin!"

"Wrong! Dead wrong!" Luo Yunkai refuted without hesitation.

"I just didn't want you to develop a Heart Demon on your future path of cultivation!"

"A mere Xiao Yueqing cannot stir up any trouble; she is not worth becoming a stumbling block on my son's path of cultivation!"

Xiao Tian realized suddenly. "Does Father mean that I, too, can become an Immortal like Father?"

Luo Yunkai proudly clasped his hands behind his back and lifted his chin slightly. The wind stirred his long white beard, giving him an ethereal air.

"Of course!"

Xiao Tian was moved and knelt before Luo Yunkai. "Thank you, Father!"

Luo Yunkai used his Qi to support the boy's knees and helped him up. "Mortal affairs are settled. Tian'er, would you like to accompany Father to the Cultivation World?"

Xiao Tian nodded heavily. "Yes!"

Luo Yunkai grabbed Xiao Tian's shoulder and laughed toward the sky. "Good son, let's go!"

Small whirlwinds formed beneath his feet, lifting the father and son into the air as they sped away.

As for Xiao Yueqing on the ground, she seemed to have been ignored by the father and son.

A flash of joy crossed Xiao Yueqing's eyes. She glanced around the ruined Chengen Marquiss Residence, then staggered to her feet and walked outside.

It didn't matter if the Chengen Marquiss Residence was gone; she still had her husband's family!

However, just as she took a single step, a green vine sprouted from the ground and pierced her heart.

Xiao Yueqing slowly lowered her head, looking at the eerily appeared vine, and wore a smile that looked worse than crying.

"You... how cruel..." Heart!

She ultimately could not utter the final word.

Xiao Tian seemed to sense something. He looked back at the dilapidated, rubble-strewn Chengen Marquiss Residence, then calmly withdrew his gaze.

Seeing no emotional fluctuation in his eyes, only a hint of filial affection when meeting his gaze as an old father, Luo Yunkai smiled knowingly.

The father and son could be considered to have a tacit understanding.

However, Xiao Tian would never "know" that Luo Yunkai had killed Xiao Yueqing.

...

The Great Cang Dynasty was not far from the Cultivation World; at Luo Yunkai's pace, it was only a three-hour journey.

Upon returning to Yunyin Market outside the Yunyin Forest and standing at the entrance, Luo Yunkai finally felt a sense of rebirth.

Seeing his son curiously observing the Loose Cultivators selling Yao Beasts in the market, Luo Yunkai smiled.

"Do you wish to taste the flavor of a Yao Beast?"

Xiao Tian knew of Yao Beasts as well; they existed in the Mortal world, and martial arts training required them to replenish Qi and blood.

But as an outsider in the Chengen Marquiss Residence, he didn't even have the qualifications to practice martial arts, let alone eat Yao Beasts.

He was slightly tempted, but the moment he thought about how his father had already spent 100,000 Spirit Stones to avenge him—though he didn't know what a Spirit Stone was, if it could move an Immortal, it must be worth more than silver.

He considered 100,000 silver to be an astronomical price!

How could he let his father spend any more on him!

"Father, this child does not want to..."

However, before Xiao Tian could finish, Luo Yunkai arrogantly sealed his mouth with Qi.

"No, you do!"

Xiao Tian widened his eyes innocently. "Mmph, mmph..."

Luo Yunkai was a dictator; he walked straight toward a Loose Cultivator setting up a stall.

The Loose Cultivator was sitting cross-legged in meditation. Before him lay a Four-legged Young Beast taller than a man, its feathers bright and lustrous, clearly full of vitality.

With his mouth sealed, Xiao Tian had no choice but to follow.

Luo Yunkai's arrival caused the Loose Cultivator to stop meditating and look over guardedly.

He first glanced at Luo Yunkai's attire, judged that he belonged to no faction and was a Loose Cultivator, and became even more wary.

Loose Cultivators feared Cultivators with backing, but if they encountered them, there was nowhere to hide, so they might as well lie flat.

But Loose Cultivators feared their own kind even more.

Because an encounter could very likely lead to a great battle over resources.

"Fellow Daoist, have you taken a liking to my Four-legged Young Beast? This is only a Qi Refining second-layer Yao Beast. With your strength, you could hunt one easily in the Yunyin Forest."

Luo Yunkai took fifty Low-Grade Spirit Stones from his System space. "To buy your Yao Beast, is this enough?"

The Loose Cultivator immediately snatched the Spirit Stones from Luo Yunkai's hand and, ignoring the Yao Beast on the ground, darted away in an instant.

Immediately, other Cultivators who had been watching the Loose Cultivator gave chase.

Others set their sights on Luo Yunkai, the Loose Cultivator who had offered a sky-high price for a second-layer Yao Beast.

Luo Yunkai slightly revealed his Qi Refining Great Perfection cultivation base, and instantly, the hidden gazes became much clearer.

When Luo Yunkai had Xiao Tian carry the Yao Beast into Yunyin Market, those gazes disappeared completely.

Once Xiao Tian entered the market and felt the prickling gazes on his back vanish, he breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

Looking at his father walking calmly in front, he secretly cheered himself on.

Xiao Tian, you cannot embarrass Father!

He tried his best to straighten his back, even though carrying the 500-plus-pound Yao Beast was truly strenuous.

The more Luo Yunkai looked at this Cheap son, the more pleasing he found him. It was definitely not because of the Spirit Stone bonus; it was his Heart-Nature and intelligence that were satisfying.

Having such a good son, it wouldn't do to let him suffer all the time.

Luo Yunkai brought his Cheap son to the Qingyun Shop.

Just by the name, one could tell it was a shop opened by the Qingyun Sect in the market, selling some of the Qingyun Sect's surplus Medicinal Pills and Magical Artifacts.

Large Sects cared about their reputation, so the quality of items in the shop was guaranteed, but at the same time, the prices were quite delightful.

Most Loose Cultivators would never come to the Qingyun Shop unless they absolutely couldn't find what they wanted at the Loose Cultivator stalls!

Therefore, when Luo Yunkai entered the shop, he didn't see a single customer, only an old fellow bored out of his mind watching the shop.

Ahem, Luo Yunkai didn't seem to have the right to call anyone an old fellow, as he looked even older than the man.

"Yo, we have a customer today? Fellow Daoist, have you brought enough Spirit Stones?" The shopkeeper watching the store glanced at Xiao Tian, who was carrying the Yao Beast behind Luo Yunkai, and his attitude was extremely rude.

Being able to watch the store at the Qingyun Shop meant one was a figure akin to an Outer Sect deacon of the Qingyun Sect; they had the qualifications to look down on Loose Cultivators.

Luo Yunkai had long passed the age of acting tough or brawling; his expression was indifferent.

"I want a Storage Pouch. Bring me the one with the largest space in your shop."

"Heh, quite a big tone. I have plenty of Storage Pouches in my shop; I'm just afraid you can't afford them."

Xiao Tian furrowed his brows. How dare this person treat his father like this!

"You shopkeeper, how rude! Do you not understand the principle that those who come are guests?"

The old shopkeeper sneered. "Only those with Spirit Stones are guests; those without, get lost!"

"The shopkeeper is right! If you don't have Spirit Stones, don't come to the Qingyun Shop to make a fool of yourself."

The devil-may-care voice rang out from behind Xiao Tian and Luo Yunkai.

Xiao Tian turned around angrily and saw a chubby boy in blue robes, ostentatiously fanning himself, seemingly thinking himself dashing.

Just as he was about to speak, Xiao Tian was nearly swept away by a gust of wind carried by a figure.

Fortunately, Luo Yunkai used his Qi to support Xiao Tian's back in time.

"Second Young Master Bai, your arrival is a great honor. It is my dereliction of duty for failing to welcome you properly. Come, let's go to the second floor; I will brew a pot of Spirit Tea to apologize to you, Second Young Master."

Looking at the shopkeeper's fawning and bootlicking attitude, Xiao Tian's filter for Immortals shattered completely.

So, Immortals and Mortals are not so different after all.
