145: Conversation with Liu Feng
Fang Bai looked at the Masked Man; this was his first time meeting him.
The Masked Man looked at him in surprise. "You were actually able to discover me?"
Fang Bai shrugged. "Would you believe me if I said I guessed?"
The Masked Man chuckled. "Interesting. It seems some dazzling geniuses have appeared among the human race!"
Fang Bai said expressionlessly, "You keep saying 'human race' this and 'human race' that. Are you not human yourself?"
The Masked Man smiled faintly. "I betrayed the human race a long time ago. You should know that."
Fang Bai fell silent for a moment before saying, "What should I call you? Liu Feng?"
"Hahaha!"
The Masked Man suddenly burst out laughing.
After laughing for a while, he said slowly, "It's been a long time since anyone used that name."
A hint of complexity appeared in the eyes behind the mask.
Having confirmed his identity, Fang Bai wasn't surprised; he just felt that fate was truly mysterious.
He hadn't expected to actually meet this senior.
Liu Feng was also from the Martial Academy, but he had betrayed the human race several years ago to join the demon camp.
Fang Bai looked at him and said, "Your bounty is still posted at the top of the list in the Martial Academy's Mission Hall."
Liu Feng smiled faintly. "I don't care about that anymore."
He paused, then looked at Fang Bai with interest. "Are you going to kill me?"
Fang Bai replied honestly, "I originally intended to, but now it seems I can't beat you."
Liu Feng's bounty at the Martial Academy marked him as having a fourth-rank cultivation, but in Fang Bai's eyes, the other man's cultivation posed a significant threat!
It was already approaching that Tiger Demon's level!
Liu Feng smiled. "You're quite honest. The Martial Academy has a worthy successor."
Fang Bai raised an eyebrow. "Can I ask why you defected to the demons?"
Hearing this, Liu Feng's smile faded slightly. He said flatly, "Just assume I did it for profit."
Clearly, he didn't want to reveal those secrets.
Fang Bai nodded. "Then did you come here to kill us?"
Liu Feng shook his head. "Not really. You aren't worth me taking action personally."
Fang Bai: ...This guy is even more of a poser than Old Qi!
Qi Tian: ???
Liu Feng said seriously, "I'm not joking. If I wanted to kill you, I could have just let that Tiger Demon do it."
"True..."
Fang Bai also thought that made sense.
"Then what do you want here?"
Liu Feng said with a beaming smile, "Your arrival in the Demon Realm was indeed unexpected. However, perhaps this is fate. To be honest, I want to make use of you."
Fang Bai frowned. "Make use of me?"
With his hands behind his back and his back to Fang Bai, Liu Feng said slowly, "Correct. This time, the Demon Realm will launch a massive invasion against the other side of the 'Wall.' This attack might be the largest in history."
Fang Bai's frown deepened. "Are you going to start a final battle?"
Liu Feng shook his head. "Not quite. However, the goal this time is to wear down the human race's ninth-rank combat power. Conservatively speaking, at least one ninth-rank human will fall this time!"
Fang Bai's expression immediately darkened.
"Then what is my role?"
Liu Feng looked at him. "I'm using you, and you're actually accepting it?"
Fang Bai shrugged. "Nonsense. According to what you said, if I don't obediently cooperate with your scheme, I'll die early. I still want to live a bit longer."
Liu Feng was stunned for a moment, then he burst out laughing again.
Fang Bai looked at him in confusion. Why does this guy keep acting up every now and then?
Liu Feng's smile was profound. "A person like you is indeed very difficult to kill."
Fang Bai hurriedly shook his head. "No, no, no! I think any random seventh or eighth-rank could insta-kill me!"
This was the Demon Realm. After making such a big scene here, it was impossible for the experts of the Demon Realm not to have noticed. Perhaps they disdained taking action against him, or perhaps it was because of the guy in front of him.
In that case, did Fang Bai have to thank him for saving his life?
Liu Feng smiled. "Don't worry. Those above the seventh rank won't take action against you."
Fang Bai asked tentatively, "Why? Can you intimidate them?"
Liu Feng raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "Because a Demon God stands behind me. They still have to give me face."
Fang Bai cursed inwardly, "A dog relying on its master's power... oh wait, a human relying on a beast's power!"
Liu Feng smiled. "I was originally going to make the trip myself, but now that you're here, things will be much easier."
Fang Bai asked directly, "Just say it. What do you want me to do?"
Liu Feng didn't answer but asked instead, "Do you know where this is?"
Fang Bai shook his head.
Liu Feng said flatly, "This place is called the Chaotic Plains. As the name suggests, it is extremely chaotic. Monsters from various tribes of the Demon Realm gather here; they are violent by nature but also extremely cunning. This region was originally the territory of the Space Demon God, but it only served as a place for it to teleport Alien Spaces."
"Most of the Alien Spaces within the human race's territory were introduced from the Chaotic Plains, as were the monsters. Because of the Space Demon God's erratic destruction, this place became a land of chaos."
"Furthermore, only three Eighth-Rank Demon Lords reside in the Chaotic Plains. They have claimed their own territories and are gradually breaking free from the Demon Realm's control."
"Although everything is chaotic in the Chaotic Plains, there are many monsters here. Despite being very close to the human checkpoints, they rarely take the initiative to attack humans."
Hearing this, Fang Bai asked in confusion, "Why?"
Liu Feng sneered, "Because they're afraid to die! Having grown accustomed to a comfortable life, who would want to go to the battlefield?"
Fang Bai's expression was a bit strange. "So your goal is to use them as cannon fodder?"
Liu Feng said solemnly, "I'm just making the best use of them, allowing them to realize their proper value."
Fang Bai gave him a thumbs up. "You're truly a schemer!"
Liu Feng smiled. "Thanks for the compliment."
Fang Bai said, "But I'm just a lowly sixth-rank. How could I possibly persuade them!"
Liu Feng said seriously, "That's why these Chaotic Plains need to become even more chaotic! And it's best if this turmoil originates from a human. I originally intended to take action myself, but now, you've arrived."
Fang Bai's mouth twitched.
So it turns out I've become the ready-made cannon fodder!
Liu Feng chuckled. "You just need to stir up chaos here. When the time comes, leaders will naturally emerge to lead them in a crusade against the humans!"
Fang Bai hesitated and asked, "Can I refuse?"
Making him cause chaos in the Chaotic Plains would definitely mean facing high-rank monsters. The mortality rate would be quite high!
Liu Feng's smile didn't fade. "Sure, but then you'll have to die right now."
Fang Bai: ... Then Liu Feng suddenly added, "Oh, you might not know this, but the human checkpoint closest to the Chaotic Plains is located at the border between the Dragon Kingdom and the Island Nation. Well, if an assault is launched, the Island Nation should be wiped out first."
Hearing this, Fang Bai's eyes lit up, and he immediately changed his tune. "I'll take the job!"
