62: Is this all the loot I got in Chapter 62?

"Poachers!?"

Wen Wan was somewhat surprised; she had heard of this organization from her father.

The reputation of the Poachers was not considered good within the circle of martial artists.

They were insidious and cunning, devoid of humanity, and their methods were extremely cruel.

Fortunately, the Poachers never attacked human martial artists; their cruelty was only directed at the Abyssal Race.

However, the destructiveness of the Poachers was too great. Any ruins with development value that passed through their hands would turn into ruins, causing massive losses.

"Hmm, stay close to me. I'm not at ease leaving you here alone."

Chen Mo nodded, hoisted Wen Wan onto his shoulder, and charged toward the blazing ruins.

The moment he arrived at the ruins with Wen Wan, waves of high-temperature flames capable of scorching bodies were raging, showing no signs of extinguishing.

"What should we do? Are we still going in?"

"It's burned like this; the things inside probably won't have survived either."

Chen Mo frowned. There was no need to continue exploring here; everything would be reduced to ashes in the inferno.

"Let's go in and take a look, just in case there are any surviving relics."

Wen Wan thought for a moment, shook her head, and said.

"I will help you isolate the external flames, ensuring you won't get hurt."

"My Trauma Chronological Regression can keep the surrounding flames at the moment just before they burn you, but it can only last for five minutes!"

Wen Wan pressed her hands together, a glowing green light lit up, completely enveloping Chen Mo's body.

"Quick! You only have five minutes!"

Chen Mo did not hesitate at all; he stomped his feet and charged into the sea of fire.

"Hmm?"

"Chen Mo! It seems there's something over there!"

The moment the two charged into the sea of fire, Wen Wan seemed to have sensed something and directed Chen Mo to sprint in a certain direction.

"Are you sure?"

Chen Mo glanced in the direction Wen Wan was pointing; it looked like a passage leading underground.

However, the door was locked tight, and it would probably take some effort to get in.

"Not sure?"

Wen Wan couldn't explain it herself, but her intuition had been very accurate since she was a child, and she had almost never been wrong.

"Forget it, I'll give it a try regardless!"

Chen Mo didn't say much more. If there was nothing after opening this door, he would just take Wen Wan and retreat.

That way, no one could say he had a problem.

Chen Mo grabbed the door frame with both hands, veins popping all over his body!

But the moment before he exerted force, the strange patterns in the center of the door suddenly lit up. The originally tightly closed door spewed out jets of steam and opened with a bang.

Chen Mo stumbled and almost fell to the ground. He stared at the pitch-black tunnel in front of him, stunned for a long while.

"How did it just open?"

"This ruin wouldn't happen to have some connection to you, would it?"

Chen Mo looked at Wen Wan, who was sitting on his shoulder, and asked with some confusion.

"I don't know either, I just felt there was something here. My sixth sense is very accurate."

Wen Wan also shook her head; she didn't even know herself why she had this feeling.

"Going in?"

"Since we're already here, let's go take a look."

Chen Mo took a deep breath, and his gas mask collapsed from the suction.

With a fierce stomp of his feet, Chen Mo dove into the pitch-black underground passage.

"Don't go in!"

Dai Tianran grabbed Chen Mo's shoulder, but was dragged directly into the tunnel by the tremendous forward force of Chen Mo.

Her feet plowed two deep furrows into the ground before she finally managed to pull Chen Mo to a stop.

"You two go back; I'll go down and take a look."

Dai Tianran shook her strained arm, her gaze toward Chen Mo becoming strange.

She was a 5th-rank Martial Artist who had tempered her Steel Skin and steel bones; to think she couldn't even hold back such a 1st-rank kid.

Just how much strength does this kid have?

"Weren't you all going after the Poachers?"

Chen Mo rubbed his shoulder, not knowing what was going on with Dai Tianran.

"Couldn't catch them; that bunch of locusts has too many ways to escape."

Dai Tianran shook her head, her dense blood energy isolating the external flames and heat.

"You two hurry back. This underground passage is the only thing left in these ruins that hasn't been explored. Once I'm done checking it, this investigation mission will be over."

Chen Mo didn't say much more; it wasn't bad to do less work.

Seeing the two obediently return to the car, Dai Tianran then took Wu Yangqin and dove into the tunnel.

...

I don't know how much time passed, but by the time the fire had already extinguished and Chen Mo was getting a bit impatient, the disheveled Dai Tianran and the others finally returned.

"It's a good thing I didn't let you two go down."

Dai Tianran clutched her shoulder, where there was a wound deep enough to see the bone.

Wen Wan immediately cast Trauma Chronological Regression, rapidly repairing the injuries on Dai Tianran's body.

"There was nothing down there except for this book and the defensive mechanisms; if you two had gone down, you would have surely died."

Dai Tianran threw a book that was preserved quite well to Chen Mo; the cover of the book was written with a bunch of characters that Chen Mo couldn't understand.

"After all this effort, the final harvest is just this piece of junk."

"Let's see if the Research Institute will take it when we get back; the Research Institute has researchers who specialize in deciphering the Abyssal language."

Wu Yangqin also sighed; they had arrived a step too late this time, and it could be said they suffered a huge loss.

Chen Mo touched the 'treasure' in his hand that Dai Tianran and the others had gone through so much hardship to bring out. He felt like he had never seen a book made of this material before.

"There has never been any record of books made of this material before. Even if the content has no value, the material itself could be worth a lot of money."

"We'll split it among the eight of us when the time comes."

Dai Tianran moved her shoulder, which had completely recovered, and said to Chen Mo and Wen Wan.

"This..."

"The two of us didn't do anything; wouldn't it be inappropriate for us to share in the proceeds?"

Wen Wan hesitated, not knowing whether she should accept this money.

"You two kids can just rest assured and accept it; consider it a welcoming gift from your elders."

Dai Tianran reached out and ruffled Wen Wan's hair. After she finished, she wanted to reach out and touch Chen Mo, but looking at that wall that could breathe, she thought about it and decided she couldn't bring herself to do it.

"Let's go. This trip has been a hassle for three days; let's go back, take a good shower, and get some rest."
