500: Chapter 500: The Body of the Creature

"Group Leader Su!"

The voice of Tao Zhe cracked directly, and he lunged forward abruptly, almost pressing Su Mingyuan back onto the ground.

"You are awake! You are finally awake!"

Chen Rong stood in the back; although he did not speak,

his slightly trembling body reflected that his inner heart was not calm.

Zhang Dabiao squeezed in from the doorway, his voice as loud as thunder.

"Group Leader Su! You scared the hell out of me! What on earth is wrong with your body that you pass out at every turn? You were in a coma for two days last time! If it happens for another two days this time, my poor little heart will not be able to take it!"

"It is not that serious." Su Mingyuan propped himself up on the ground and sat up, moving his neck a bit. His bones cracked twice. "This time is different from last time."

Tao Zhe quickly called the military doctor over.

"Let the doctor check you first. The lesson from last time is still there; let us do a comprehensive examination first..."

"No need." Su Mingyuan waved his hand. "I am really fine. I know my own body."

As he spoke, he stood up. His legs were steady, his breath was smooth, and although his complexion was a bit pale, his spirit was not bad, and his eyes were bright. He did not look like he had any major problems.

Tao Zhe was still uneasy and pulled him insistently to test his spiritual power fluctuations once more.

Unable to win against him, Su Mingyuan had to stand there and let him fuss.

The spiritual power probe was pressed against his temple, and a string of waveforms popped up on the screen.

Tao Zhe stared at the screen for several seconds. His brows first furrowed, then slowly relaxed, and finally his whole expression became a bit weird.

"The spiritual power fluctuations in your Sea of Consciousness are even more stable than before you passed out."

"Huh?"

"It is not just normally stable." Tao Zhe turned the tablet over to show him. "Look at this waveform; it is even smoother than your previous baseline. To put it bluntly, your mental state right now is even better than before you fell unconscious."

The tone of Tao Zhe sounded like he was talking about something unscientific.

A person was unconscious for twenty minutes, and upon waking up, their mental state was actually even better. No matter how you listened to it, this matter felt a bit wrong.

Su Mingyuan knew what was going on in his heart.

He did not plan to speak of the things that happened in his Sea of Consciousness for the time being.

The recognition of a master by the Gu Mother, the Evil Bone Skeleton, and the insect mine—these matters were too big, involving too many things, and could not be explained clearly in a few words.

Moreover, although the Gu Mother had made a soul oath, the ways of the Immortal Realm were unfathomably deep, and there was no guarantee she did not have other methods he did not know about.

Before thoroughly figuring it out, the fewer people who knew about this matter, the better.

"Tao Zhe, besides my coma, has anything else happened recently?"

Su Mingyuan diverted the topic.

Tao Zhe was stunned for a moment, then nodded, and the expression on his face changed.

It turned from worry into something very subtle, as if he had something to say but did not know how to start.

"There is indeed one matter."

Tao Zhe turned his head and glanced at Chen Rong.

Chen Rong took over the conversation.

"After you fell unconscious, Lin Wan and I patrolled the outer perimeter of the base to investigate potential sources of intrusion."

His voice was pressed very low, as if he were talking about something unusual.

"Then we found a person in an underground insect tunnel two kilometers southwest of the base."

The brows of Su Mingyuan twitched.

"A person?"

"That is right, it is a woman." The gaze of Chen Rong sank slightly. "More accurately, it should be a female corpse."

"Our medical staff tested this corpse and found no signs of life whatsoever."

The brows of Su Mingyuan furrowed even tighter.

Finding a human corpse in the Zerg World was no small matter.

Ever since the portal opened in the Zerg World, besides the Seventh Shelter that was discovered,

the only living creatures they had ever seen were bugs; they had never found traces of any other humans existing.

And the survivors of the Seventh Shelter had long ago been transferred to the Main World.

"What kind of woman?"

Chen Rong did not answer immediately.

He exchanged a glance with Lin Wan, and neither of their expressions looked very good.

It was Lin Wan who spoke first.

"That corpse has a human shape, but its skin is grayish-white, almost transparent, and dark purple blood vessels can be seen underneath. Its hair is very long, hanging down to its waist."

She paused for a moment.

"There are a large number of residual traces of spiritual power threads on its back, with jagged breaks, as if they were forcibly severed by something."

Su Mingyuan stood in place, his brain spinning rapidly.

Grayish-white skin.

Dark purple blood vessels.

Spiritual power threads on the back.

Why did this description feel somewhat familiar?

"Also," Tao Zhe interjected from the side, "there is a large amount of residual spiritual power in the brainstem area of the corpse, and the fluctuation frequency is completely identical to what we previously collected from elite zerg and parasites."

He pulled up the data on the tablet and compared it with the previous waveform.

"Three sets of data, the exact same source."

Tao Zhe raised his head and looked at Su Mingyuan.

"Group Leader Su, we have reason to suspect that this corpse is the true body of the Gu Mother. We just do not know why it died in the underground insect tunnel."

No one uttered a sound in the Central Command.

Zhang Dabiao scratched the back of his head in the back, his mouth opening and closing as if he wanted to say something but could not get it out.

Several staff officers looked at each other in dismay, none of them daring to speak first.

Chen Rong stood opposite Su Mingyuan, his gaze fixed dead on his face.

The expression of Su Mingyuan did not change much.

He lowered his head and thought for a few seconds.

The true body of the Gu Mother.

The Gu Mother he saw in his Sea of Consciousness was a butterfly; how could her true body be in a human shape?

Su Mingyuan gave it a second thought and quickly understood.

The butterfly was a Divine Sense form, not a Physical Body.

The Gu Mother originated from the Nether Sect and was originally a human. After Cultivate Gu arts, her body underwent changes, but deep down she still had a human shape.

Having figured this layer out, Su Mingyuan raised his head.

"That woman is not dead."

As soon as these words came out, everyone in the room was stunned.

Tao Zhe almost dropped the tablet in his hand, Chen Rong knitted his brows, and the mouth of Zhang Dabiao opened wide, failing to close for a long time.

Before they could react, Su Mingyuan spoke again.

"Where is she now? Take me there."

Tao Zhe opened his mouth to ask something, but after glancing at the expression of Su Mingyuan, he swallowed his words back down.

"She is in the temporary quarantine area on the east side of the base, contained in a high-grade airtight capsule surrounded by a perimeter of guards."

"Let us go."

The group arrived at the quarantine area. Three shipping containers formed a semi-enclosed space, outside of which stood eighteen fully armed guards, with two mechs crouching on either side, their gun barrels aimed inside.

The container door was pulled open, revealing a pale light.

Right in the middle sat a specially made cage of skyfall steel, specifically used to detain high-Rank bugs; even bugs at the Foundation Establishment Stage would not be able to break free once locked inside.

At this moment, a woman was lying inside the cage.

Her hands wore skyfall steel handcuffs, and her feet were also shackled. The chains were short, making it an effort just to curl up and roll over inside.

Her grayish-white skin was nearly transparent, and the dark purple blood vessels underneath were clearly visible. A head of long hair was scattered beneath her, sprawling messily all over the ground.

The severed ends of the spiritual power threads on her back had formed dark purple scabs, streak by streak, as if slashed by a knife.

Her eyes were tightly closed, her complexion ashen, showing not the slightest hint of vitality.

To anyone looking at her, this looked like a completely dead corpse.
