150: Chapter 150 [The Fearless Black Boar]

Hu Gualing and Tang Yao both tensed up instantly.

Because they both saw that it was a large black rock.

If it were sandstone, which is relatively common in the wilderness, the internal structural layers would have become very fragile after weathering. Sometimes, a gust of wind could blow the surface layer of the sandstone off, making it crumble like the crust of a freshly baked, crispy flatbread, which would make the rock appear to be moving.

However, this large black rock before them was pitch black and clearly of a very hard variety, making it unlikely to weather. Moreover, it was currently on a flat stretch of wilderness; with such a large rock standing on the loess, it wouldn't be blown about by the wind, would it?

Hu Gualing and Tang Yao couldn't quite believe that such a large black rock was moving. However, because the three of them had lowered their voices, the ambient sound of the surroundings became much clearer, and they vaguely heard a strange rustling sound in their ears, as if something was rubbing against something else.

And this strange noise was coming exactly from the direction of that large black rock.

"This... could the rock actually be moving?"

Xiao Niao was somewhat skeptical and whispered, "I don't think so. It's possible there's something behind the rock. Let's change our angle and take a look."

As he spoke, Xiao Niao crouched down and moved far around the large rock in front. Following behind, Hu Gualing and Tang Yao mimicked his actions, sneaking and crouching as they changed positions. A while later, the three of them had shifted to a new spot where they could see the side and a bit of the back of the large rock. When they saw what was behind the large rock, all three of them were startled.

Behind that large black rock, a massive, long-snouted, tusked wild boar was rubbing against the stone. One moment it was grinding its two long, thick tusks, and the next it was rubbing the bristles on its back, which were like sharp steel needles!

Other than its pair of long white tusks, the entire body of the wild boar was as black as the rock it was rubbing against. It was no wonder Xiao Niao and the others hadn't noticed its presence from the front of the rock earlier, only feeling that the rock was inexplicably shaking...

[Fearless Black Wild Boar].

Xiao Niao whispered the name of the wild boar, terrified to his core. Even his voice was trembling, because this wild boar was not only terrifying in appearance and size, but its strength was immense. Just by grinding its teeth and scratching its itch, it was making a rock taller than itself wobble. If it were to actually fight, how astonishing would its power be?

When Hu Gualing saw the wild boar, he was startled at first, then his eyes lit up. But upon hearing Xiao Niao state the wild boar's name, a rare look of vigilance appeared on his face.

If it were just an ordinary wild boar, it wouldn't matter; as long as he encountered one, he would definitely charge at it without a second thought. Because this thing clearly ranked higher than a Wild Dog, the equipment and items it dropped would certainly be better. Moreover, wild boars are omnivorous and aggressive; they wouldn't run away when they saw a player, making them the most ideal monsters.

However, the strength the wild boar displayed while grinding its teeth and rubbing its back against the large black rock secretly shocked Hu Gualing. He couldn't help but compare himself to the wild boar in his mind, and he quickly and helplessly came to the conclusion that he was no match for the pig.

Furthermore, this wild boar had a [Fearless] prefix. Although he didn't know exactly what attributes this Fearless prefix added, there was no doubt that a monster with this prefix was certainly much stronger than an ordinary monster without one. This was the experience Hu Gualing had gained from fighting so many Wild Dogs; monsters with prefixes and those without were likely the distinction between elite monsters and ordinary mobs.

It was precisely for these reasons that when Hu Gualing saw this wild boar, he didn't charge forward with glowing eyes as he did every time he saw a monster, as if he were looking at equipment. He didn't consider himself a match for this wild boar at all. If he wanted to defeat it, even with Tang Yao and Xiao Niao, the three of them combined would likely find it very difficult. Therefore, Hu Gualing felt it was better to retreat a bit further and discuss it with Tang Yao and Xiao Niao before making a decision.

Just as Hu Gualing wanted to retreat to a safe distance to discuss a battle plan with Tang Yao and Xiao Niao, a sudden change occurred on Tang Yao's side. Tang Yao herself was fine; she just found the wild boar grinding its teeth quite novel and was momentarily mesmerized, which caused her to temporarily neglect the Sharp-toothed Piglet she was holding on a leash.

At this moment, Sharp Tooth was gazing with its round little eyes at the massive Black Wild Boar in the distance, which was countless times larger than itself. Its face displayed an anthropomorphic expression of surprise and slight confusion, as if it were happy to see one of its own kind in the wild, yet also puzzled: why did this kin look somewhat different from itself, and why was it so much larger in size?

Driven by this mixture of surprise and confusion, the Sharp-toothed Piglet trotted forward on its four little hooves, approaching the Black Wild Boar...
