17: Chapter 17 A Veteran

The Old Man in Tang Suit was sent flying backward.

His toes tapped rapidly against the ground, and his pair of old Wangjing cloth shoes even began to smoke from the friction before he finally managed to stabilize himself.

But it wasn't over yet.

After the Old Man in Tang Suit stood firm, he did not look well.

He lowered his head and clutched his chest, holding his breath for a few seconds before his face suddenly flushed red and he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

"Grandpa!"

The Yellow-Haired Girl rushed forward in a stride, reaching out to support him, but she feared disturbing his internal breath. She could only instruct, "Grandpa, don't move. I'll go get the Old Dean right now. Uncle Feng, watch this guy! Don't let him run away, and definitely don't let him get near Grandpa!"

"Understood." The man in camouflage reached behind his waist, staring warily at Chen Mo with a posture that suggested he would open fire at the slightest disagreement.

Chen Mo was also stunned.

From the start, he had been afraid that the Old Man in Tang Suit's old bones might suffer some mishap during the spar, so he had been cautious and hadn't dared to use his full strength.

However, after sparring for a while, he realized he had been overthinking it.

Although the elder was aged, his Internal Energy was extraordinary. Coupled with his rich combat experience, Chen Mo hadn't found it easy to deal with him at all.

So, toward the end of the spar, Chen Mo had no choice but to let loose.

As a result, it was as if the elder had been injected with adrenaline.

The Aura and power that erupted at the final moment had even given him a fright.

And the result was...

Chen Mo stared at his own arm and secretly groaned.

"If I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have sparred with you no matter what!"

To be honest, Chen Mo felt quite guilty about hitting an elderly person until they spat blood.

He intended to go over and use his skills to heal the elder.

But seeing the man in camouflage watching him like a hawk, he didn't dare move around carelessly.

One must know that beyond seven paces, a gun is fast; within seven paces, a gun is both fast and accurate!

Fortunately, the Old Man in Tang Suit possessed great martial virtue.

He didn't just lie on the ground and start extorting people.

Instead, he lectured his granddaughter and the guard.

"Xiao Xu, Xiao Feng, show more respect to little friend Chen. Although I was momentary careless, losing a spar is losing; there's no shame in it. *Cough, cough*... Also, don't go bothering Old Zhang. This is an old ailment of mine; even he has no solution for it."

"Yes!" The man in camouflage accepted the order, bowed slightly to Chen Mo in apology, and quietly retreated to the side.

The Yellow-Haired Girl also knew the rules of the Martial Forest; this matter really couldn't be blamed on Chen Mo. However, seeing her grandfather spit blood made her feel terrible. At the very least, the curiosity and good impression she had previously felt toward Chen Mo vanished instantly. She glared at him fiercely and turned to the Old Man in Tang Suit, saying, "Grandpa, let me help you back first. Even if it's an old ailment, you still need to recuperate properly."

The Old Man in Tang Suit wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with a sweat towel. "*Cough, cough*, no rush to go back. I'll sit down and meditate for a bit first."

After saying that, he looked around as if searching for a suitable place to sit.

Finally, his gaze fixed directly on Chen Mo, and he walked toward the pavilion.

"I don't know why an old man of this age doesn't cultivate some elderly hobbies. He's a pure martial idiot. Even injured like this, he's still reluctant to leave."

The Yellow-Haired Girl silently rolled her eyes.

The Old Man in Tang Suit sat down opposite Chen Mo once again.

Although he had spat blood, his overall mental state actually seemed a bit better, and a kind smile hung on his face.

Seeing this scene, Chen Mo felt even more uncomfortable in his heart.

What a good old man!

Not only does he not extort people,

But he also doesn't use his status to bully others.

Even after being beaten to the point of spitting blood, he still greets me with a smile.

For a moment, Chen Mo could no longer suppress the guilt in his heart.

Before the elder could speak, he said sincerely, "Senior, let me heal your injuries first."

The Old Man in Tang Suit was stunned. "Is that alright?"

He had seen with his own eyes that Chen Mo first treated Tang Yao, then sparred with him, and now wanted to heal him.

No matter how thick one's Internal Strength was, it shouldn't be able to withstand such continuous exhaustion, right?

Chen Mo didn't care about that and simply said, "What's not alright about it? As long as you trust me."

"This... alright then, I'll have to trouble you, little friend." The Old Man in Tang Suit pondered for a moment before agreeing.

Besides wanting to experience Chen Mo's Internal Strength again, he also wanted to see where Chen Mo's limits truly lay.

Chen Mo nodded, leaned forward slightly, and pressed his palm against the Old Man in Tang Suit's palm.

Although the elder was also a Martial Artist and had Internal Energy in his body, which added some resistance to Chen Mo's technique,

With the other party's deliberate cooperation,

Chen Mo still quickly transferred his Internal Energy into the elder's body, clearing the Meridians and nourishing the internal organs.

Gradually, Chen Mo discovered something was wrong.

There was a problem inside the Old Man in Tang Suit's body.

Actually, at the Old Man in Tang Suit's age, no matter how good the medical conditions were, some hidden injuries and degradation of bodily mechanisms were inevitable.

Chen Mo didn't expect Internal Energy to be omnipotent or capable of curing all these old ailments.

As long as he healed the injuries the elder sustained today, he would have fulfilled his duty.

But the elder's current injury was related to this underlying problem.

That is, the martial arts the elder practiced were somewhat deviant.

What clearly should have been an internal style for health and character cultivation had been practiced by him as a killing technique.

Two opposing types of Qi had resided in his body for years and years,

Placing a heavy burden on his body.

Especially as he aged and bodily functions declined, the consequences became even more severe.

And just now, the Old Man in Tang Suit had actually dared to fully stimulate his Internal Energy.

This caused the chronic illness inside him to collaborate with Chen Mo's Internal Strength from both inside and out.

In an instant, it had dealt him an internal injury.

"This is a bit tricky."

After spending some effort to heal the surface injuries, Chen Mo thought about the old ailment inside the Old Man in Tang Suit and found himself in a difficult position.

To cure it completely, one would have to dissolve all of the elder's Internal Skill.

But this elder was clearly a fanatical Martial Artist; he would probably rather die than lose his cultivation, right?

Chen Mo originally didn't want to meddle in others' business, but considering how reasonable the elder's conduct was, he asked indirectly, "Senior, is it convenient to tell me what you did when you were young?"

"Me? My life has been quite monotonous, nothing much to say. I was just a soldier for several decades."

"You've been to the battlefield?"

"Haha, more than just been there; I was on the battlefield for decades. Fortunately, things finally became peaceful, and I could come back to retire. But having said that, little friend Chen, you were born at the wrong time. If you had been born a few decades earlier, there would have been a great hope for you to win the title of War God! However, in an era of peace, Martial Artists are not entirely useless. If little friend Chen is interested, I can write a recommendation letter to Wangjing."

The Old Man in Tang Suit clearly felt that his internal injuries were healed. While marveling at the strength of Chen Mo's Internal Strength, his tone naturally became much warmer.

But when Chen Mo heard that the elder had been on the battlefield for decades, his heart jolted.

He didn't pay much attention to what was said afterward.

Based on the Old Man in Tang Suit's bearing and the attitude of those around him, he had only thought he was a retired Senior official.

Only after asking did he find out.

He was actually a veteran who had been to the battlefield.

Chen Mo had just finished his College Entrance Exam, and the knowledge from his history textbooks hadn't been forgotten yet.

Moreover, as long as one was a person of Huaguo, even if they hadn't been to school, that period of history should be engraved in their heart.

In that war decades ago, if not for that group of ancestors, the country would have long ceased to exist.

Chen Mo was instantly filled with deep respect.

He had to completely heal this Senior's injuries!
