Chapter 121: Consciousness First, Universe Later
Having reached this point in his explanation, Jiang Zhe spoke with righteous solemnity:
"At this point!"
"The first observer of the internal universe appears."
"However, now that 'consciousness' has appeared, what kind of reaction will this starting universe have?"
He pondered for a moment, then provided an easy-to-understand answer.
"Before the 'first consciousness' appears, I feel it is necessary to describe the initial universe to everyone."
"First, the starting point of the universe. Before the universe appeared, it was completely empty—formless, objectless, imageless—this belongs to the Wuji state!"
"The universe within the Wuji state had no beginning and no end, no time and no space. It was pristine, with nothing that could be described—a void, not even 'emptiness' existed."
"Within the concept of 'emptiness', there is no thought or consciousness, no conceptual scope, not even time or space. Originally, there was nothing."
"A reminder: there was not even the darkness we recognize today, nor was there any so-called minimum energy. There was simply nothing; nothing existed!"
"In other words, no one can describe the state of the universe—its 'form, object, image, or color'—when there were no fundamental particles."
"The starting point I have described above is the origin theory for all disciplines, as well as the initial state recognized by the general public."
Hearing this, the audience fell into deep thought.
The starting point of the universe in such a state was likely something that had never truly appeared in human cognition or imagination.
No color, no state, nothing at all—a completely 'dead universe'.
No, not a 'dead universe'!
If it were a 'dead universe', even after infinite time, it would never explode!
At the same time, they all knew that humans cannot imagine things and states they have never seen before.
Only now did they suddenly understand why Jiang Zhe had to postulate an answer.
If he did not postulate an answer, the topic would come to an abrupt end and could not continue.
"At this moment, let us return to the first consciousness."
"As the first consciousness from the external universe suddenly connected to this starting 'emptiness'."
"Very quickly, the original balance of the internal universe was suddenly broken by this first consciousness!"
"Because the 'emptiness' was too still, too silent, it led to the principle that when things reach an extreme, they reverse."
"Consequently, the chaotic 'emptiness' began to move toward its opposite—"
"For example, tiny imbalances, and so on. A tiny, tiny point appeared; this point is the 'fusion point' of fundamental particles."
"It should be noted that the probability of this point appearing is close to 100%, because this takes place over an incredibly long, near-eternal time, in an almost infinite space."
"Therefore, the appearance of the first consciousness within the 'emptiness' can be understood as the catalyst that caused the 'emptiness' in its chaotic state to become turbulent; only after becoming chaotic did the first 'fusion point' appear."
"What does this 'chaos' mean?"
"It means, in scientific terms: an observer has appeared, and the equilibrium of the chaotic 'emptiness' has been broken."
"The 'emptiness', which was originally in a Quantum Superposition State, was suddenly 'observed' by the first consciousness, and this 'emptiness' then became the 'universe'."
"Based on the meaning within Quantum Mechanics: once an observer appears, the entire universe begins a 'quantum collapse', changing from a chaotic, disordered, and uncertain state into a 'determined state'."
"And so!"
"The 'fusion point', through the accumulation of time, became a 'singularity'."
Having reached this point, Jiang Zhe frowned, seemingly realizing that it was still somewhat obscure and difficult for the general public to understand.
He then spoke again to simplify it.
"It is like this—"
"Before the first consciousness appeared, the universe was 'emptiness'. In this 'emptiness', there were only fundamental particles. Even after countless years of disordered movement, it would not explode."
"Just like the monkeys, even in infinite time, it is impossible for them to type out an identical version of the 'Encyclopaedia Britannica'."
"Therefore, the correct order is—"
"'Emptiness' with only fundamental particles →"
"[After the first consciousness descends] →"
"[Emptiness] is observed by [the first consciousness], causing the state of [emptiness] to collapse →"
"Collapse, or 'quantum collapse', is when a quantum state suddenly transitions from an uncertain state to a determined state."
"Before being observed, quantum particles are in a Superposition State, meaning they may exist in multiple states, each with a certain probability."
"Once an observer observes this 'quantum state', the quantum particles will immediately transition from an uncertain Superposition State to a determined state; this process is quantum collapse."
"And so, through observation!"
"[Emptiness] becomes [universe] →"
"Fundamental particles within the [universe] are determined and begin to move →"
"[Singularity] arrives, →"
"[Singularity] explodes, →"
"[Galaxies] appear, →"
"..."
Listening to this series of explanations.
The audience frowned, trying to understand.
In other words, there must have been a 'point' that appeared inside the universe initially.
This 'point' was not formed by the aggregation of the universe's original fundamental particles over infinite time.
Instead, it was formed after the first consciousness descended, coming together over infinite time.
As the name implies: the first consciousness appeared from the outside, breaking the internal appearance.
For the internal 'emptiness', it appeared out of thin air!
Only by appearing out of thin air could it break the balance of the 'emptiness'.
Soon, many people realized.
"Wait, doesn't this mean Jiang Zhe is denying the Big Bang Theory?"
"To the person above, you've only just realized; he is indeed denying the Big Bang Theory."
"Holy crap, is it that extreme?"
"Brothers, you've misunderstood; this isn't exaggerated. In the answer Jiang Zhe postulated, the answer is hypothetical, but the process is not. The process comes from the tao te ching: there is a passage that describes it, 'All things in the world are born from being, and being is born from non-being.' If the universe remains still to the extreme, empty to the extreme, it will reverse—which is the 'Taiji'. Therefore, at some moment, an initial singularity must form—it's just that this 100% inevitable singularity is most likely the 'first consciousness' in Jiang Zhe's hypothetical answer."
"Hiss~~ If you hadn't said that, I would have thought he was spouting nonsense. Turns out he wasn't spouting nonsense at all; there is a basis for it."
"I'm kneeling!"
"..."
While the audience was engaged in heated discussion.
The backstage director reported the voices from the barrage comments to Jiang Zhe.
Jiang Zhe nodded gently and continued to explain:
"Yes, but I am not denying the Big Bang Theory model."
"The Big Bang Theory model states that at the beginning, the universe was a point that emerged from nothing, suddenly erupting with infinite matter, which subsequently gave rise to consciousness."
"Only after consciousness emerged did such an orderly and complex world form."
Facing the camera, he held up an index finger, his tone somewhat stern.
"My questioning of it is—"
"If that point could truly explode to create a universe, then throughout history, there have been countless points in the universe, and enough time."
"Why has no other point ever exploded or expanded?"
"If there are new singularities exploding and expanding in the unobservable universe that we cannot see, then the two universes would conflict and collide, eventually turning into disordered destruction; of course, unless there is a 'boundary' between them that we humans have not yet discovered, preventing the collision and conflict between the universes."
"Therefore, this indicates that the initial conditions of the singularity are not within the dimension of the word 'being'."
"Rather, what is it that allows this singularity to 'be'?"
At this point, he pointed to his own head and said seriously: "Yes, it is precisely 'consciousness' that allows the singularity of this universe to exist."
"With the observation of consciousness, the primitive universe in a Quantum Superposition State began to become determined."
"After becoming determined, this universe began to slowly develop Primordial Black Hole, superclusters, super-galaxies, galaxies, stars, planets, civilizations, humans, and artifacts."
"The correct order is: Consciousness first, universe second!"
"Without 'consciousness', this 'singularity' would not form, even after some, infinite, or eternal years."
"Because the initial universe, without the intervention of consciousness, would eternally remain in a Quantum Superposition State, that is, an eternal 'uncertain state', until consciousness descends, at which point it becomes 'determined'!"
"You can also understand it this way: the entire universe in space is both a wave and a particle. After the first observer appears, the wave state collapses and becomes particles, and the particles form everything; this understanding is also acceptable."
As the series of statements ended, all the experts and the audience were dumbfounded.
