101: Dragon City changes hands; the chosen one.
When Invincible in the East returned to Dragon City with Chu He, utterly disheartened, the upper echelons of the Steel Giant City were thrown into massive turmoil.
Inside the grand City Lord's Mansion council hall, over ten Generals, dressed in specialized combat suits and possessing powerful auras, had already been waiting, their faces etched with anxiety and unease.
They were the core fighting force of Dragon City, every one of them an A-rank Ability User or higher, life-and-death brothers who had followed Invincible in the East through mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
"The City Lord is back!" a General responsible for security shouted loudly.
Everyone in the hall brightened up and collectively moved toward the entrance.
However, when they clearly saw the sight walking in, all their smiles froze on their faces.
Their City Lord, whom they revered as a god—the Dragon Emperor who always held his spine straight—was now slightly bowing his body, following behind a young man in blue robes, his face displaying an expression they had never witnessed... awe and defeat.
That young man, with black hair and black eyes and an ordinary appearance, had no energy fluctuations around him, looking just like an ordinary person who had stepped out of an old-era painting.
Yet, it was this ordinary person who walked ahead of Invincible in the East.
"City Lord! You..."
A burly man with the fieriest temper, code-named "Furious Thunder," couldn't help but step forward. He looked at Invincible in the East, then pointed at Chu He, his eyes filled with disbelief and rage, "Who is this guy? How could you..."
Before he could finish, Invincible in the East spun around fiercely, his eyes flashing with a severe warning light, and he whispered urgently, "Shut up! Furious Thunder, stand down!"
"City Lord!" Furious Thunder roared unwillingly, "What exactly did he do to you? Even if we die, we absolutely won't let you be humiliated!"
"That's right! City Lord! We'll fight him if we have to!"
"There are no cowards in my Dragon City!"
The Generals were agitated, and powerful ability fluctuations surged through the council hall; electric arcs and frost even appeared in the air. They could not accept their faith and leader bowing and scraping to an unknown stranger.
Looking at these loyal subordinates, Invincible in the East felt a mix of emotions—gratitude, and a deep sense of powerlessness.
Fight? Fight with what?
With his own life, or with the lives of the millions of people in Dragon City?
He opened his mouth, intending to explain, but Chu He stopped him with a single, indifferent glance.
Chu He's gaze swept over everyone present, as if he were looking at a group of noisy ants.
He stopped walking, turned to look at the burly man named "Furious Thunder," and a playful curve appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"You want to stand up for him?" Chu He asked.
"So what if I do!" Furious Thunder craned his neck, lightning flashing around him as his powerful S-rank aura burst forth without reservation. "Don't think that just because you can coerce the City Lord, you can lord it over us! If you want to touch Dragon City, you'll have to step over my corpse first!"
"As you wish."
Chu He said softly.
Before the words even fell, he hadn't moved an inch.
Furious Thunder, that S-rank Ability User, was high on Battle Intent one second, and the next, his body was like a punctured balloon, bursting into a cloud of blood mist with a dull 'poof,' without any warning.
Blood and shredded flesh splattered across the cold floor and onto the faces of the surrounding Generals.
The entire council hall instantly plunged into deathly silence.
Everyone was stunned; they hadn't even seen how Chu He made his move. A powerful S-rank Ability User, a fierce General capable of fighting ten thousand on the battlefield, was just... gone?
Fear, like an invisible tide, instantly drowned every person.
The Generals who had just been clamoring to fight were now pale-faced, their bodies rigid, their breathing halted.
They finally understood why the City Lord looked the way he did.
This wasn't coercion; this was crushing dominance.
It was the absolute dominion of a god over a Mortal—no, the absolute dominion of the Creator over dust.
"Does anyone else have an objection?" Chu He's voice sounded again, so flat it lacked any ripple, yet it was more terrifying than the most dreadful thunderclap to those who heard it.
No one dared to speak, and no one even dared to meet his gaze.
Chu He nodded in satisfaction, no longer bothering with these terrified Generals, and said to Invincible in the East beside him, "Continue leading the way."
"Y-yes, Master," Invincible in the East squeezed the two words out through gritted teeth, his body trembling even harder.
Under the horrified, despairing, and bewildered gazes of all his former subordinates, Invincible in the East led Chu He through the council hall and toward the Forbidden Ground deep within the City Lord's Mansion.
That place was the energy core of Dragon City, and also the location of the "Dragon Vein" that maintained the operation of the entire city.
Passing through layers of thick Alloy Gates, a massive underground space unfolded before Chu He.
In the center of the space was a bottomless Energy Well, where liquefied ethereal blue energy surged, emitting massive energy fluctuations. Directly above the Energy Well, a giant multifaceted crystal, over ten meters in diameter, floated, with countless Energy Pipelines connecting from the crystal to every corner of the city.
"Master, this is the core of the Dragon Vein," Invincible in the East introduced respectfully. "This 'Source Energy Crystal' was discovered deep underground, and the entire energy supply of Dragon City comes from it."
Chu He's gaze, however, was not on the giant crystal, but was raised toward the dome of the space.
In his Luck Vision, the massive golden Pillar of Luck that shot up from Dragon City originated precisely from the deeper reaches of this Energy Well.
"This is just the surface," Chu He shook his head. "The true 'Dragon Vein' is not energy, but something you cannot comprehend."
He looked at the bewildered Invincible in the East and, unusually, offered an explanation: "It is called 'Luck.' The rise and fall of a civilization, a race, or even a world, are all closely related to it. You, Invincible in the East, were able to become the strongest person in this world and be hailed as the Savior, not because of your high talent, but because most of the world's Luck gathered upon you."
"You are the 'Child of Luck' chosen by this world."
Luck? Child of Luck?
Invincible in the East's mind buzzed; these completely new concepts made him feel that his understanding of the past few decades had been utterly subverted.
So, his achievements today weren't entirely due to hard work and talent, but because he was chosen by something called "Luck"?
Chu He looked at his shocked expression, a cold smile appearing on his face.
"Now, what I must do is take back everything that should have belonged to you, and everything that belongs to this world."
"Starting today, I am the sole Lord of Luck of this world!"
