82: Raising a Dragon
"So fast?" Chen Ming was a little surprised.
Initially, he thought it would take at least a few weeks, or at most several months, maybe half a year.
Now it seemed the Fishing System deliberately shortened the process.
Thinking about it, it made sense. After constantly dealing with death and gambling his life, he finally obtained a Dragon Egg.
If the young dragon couldn't hatch quickly and reinforce his combat power, what would happen if someone took advantage of the situation and intercepted him?
"However, after this Dragon Egg hatches, what should I feed it? Raw meat? Zombie monsters?"
As he went up to the second floor, one question after another arose in Chen Ming's mind.
Before he could figure it out, a cry like that of a baby came from inside the door.
Chen Ming grabbed the doorknob and pushed it down.
He just happened to see a blue-green young dragon, flapping its wings, crawling out from a pile of eggshells.
Upon sensing Chen Ming's presence, it immediately scrambled towards him, not looking where it was going, and rolled off the bed.
Just as it was about to hit the floor, Chen Ming acted in time, using Mind Control to make the young dragon levitate and slowly descend.
However, on second thought, as a dragon, even a young one, it should be difficult to harm with swords and blades, with thick skin and flesh covered in scales. It was even less likely to be injured by falling from this height.
Seeing the young dragon finally flapping its way to him after much effort.
Chen Ming squatted down, looking at this little... well, not little. It had just hatched, and without counting its wings, its size already exceeded that of a medium-sized dog.
The young dragon desperately tried to burrow into Chen Ming's arms. Through his clothes, he could feel a faint coolness washing over him.
Even without bringing up the virtual panel to check, Chen Ming had already guessed the attribute of this young dragon's ability.
He stood up, casually unplugged a lamp from the bedside table, picked it up, and placed it on the floor.
Then he pointed at the lamp and said to the young dragon, "Come on, attack it."
The young dragon opened its mouth, revealing teeth that were not yet fully developed or sharp. It immediately bared its fangs and claws, preparing to charge and battle the lamp for three hundred rounds.
Chen Ming reached out and grabbed it, shaking his head and saying, "Not with your teeth, use your ability."
The little fellow seemed to understand. When its eyes looked at the lamp again, a hint of determination appeared.
It opened its dragon mouth, and accompanied by a somewhat weak roar, exhaled a blast of cold air.
The cold air directly covered the floor along the way, including the lamp, the desk behind it, and a large section of the wall, all with a thick layer of ice.
"As expected, it's ice attribute." Chen Ming chuckled, pleased that he had guessed the correct answer.
He opened the virtual panel and found a piece of frozen meat.
He muttered softly, "This little guy is a dragon and possesses ice attribute skills. It shouldn't get a stomach ache, right?"
When the little fellow saw the large piece of pork belly in Chen Ming's hand, it became extremely excited, letting out soft, whining sounds of affection.
Like a dog, it actively rubbed its head against Chen Ming's leg.
Seeing this, Chen Ming no longer hesitated and threw the piece of frozen meat.
The little fellow bit it precisely, its neck stretched straight, and its mouth opened to the limit.
It was a bit difficult, but it still forced it down.
It felt somewhat like a snake swallowing an egg.
It looked uncomfortable but was actually very satisfying.
When the little fellow ate that piece of frozen meat, Chen Ming clearly felt its body grow bigger by a noticeable amount.
"Good heavens! It grows so fast?"
Surprised, Chen Ming threw out a few more pieces of frozen meat to the young dragon to verify his idea.
The little fellow was not polite at all and swallowed them all.
Its body instantly grew several more sizes.
"..." Chen Ming wanted to keep feeding it but stopped halfway.
He looked at the window, then at the door.
So he commanded, "You go out that way first, lest you grow too big and get trapped in here. Then I'd have to tear down the villa."
He didn't want to lose a shelter for nothing.
The little fellow did as told, leaping down from the balcony. It wasn't yet skilled in flying, flapping its wings awkwardly twice.
It ended up landing face-first, but fortunately, its defense was high enough that it didn't cause any damage.
Chen Ming followed closely, also jumping from the balcony and landing lightly.
He then used Mind Control to suspend the young dragon and brought it to the wider road, which was more suitable for growth.
Frozen meat was thrown to the young dragon piece by piece.
The little fellow ate with great relish.
Its size also increased at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Chen Ming couldn't help but complain, "If I didn't have some stock, an average person really couldn't afford to raise you."
The little fellow seemed to understand his words and no longer opened its mouth to receive meat.
Facing the city, it unfolded its wings with a boom and flapped them vigorously. As a result, it actually flew off the ground.
"What? Does a dragon also have a temper? I said a few words, and it's unhappy, wants to run away from home? Find a new Master?"
Chen Ming frowned tightly. This action was truly unexpected for him.
"How dare you betray Master! How audacious!"
Seeing Bai Yuan, who had been silent the whole time, walk up indignantly, preparing to draw her sword.
Chen Ming raised his hand and stopped her, "Don't rush, let's see what it wants to do first."
Chen Ming had specifically checked the attribute panel. The young dragon's loyalty to him was one hundred percent, so there should be no possibility of betrayal.
He decided to calm down and watch.
If the young dragon truly had thoughts of betraying its Master, then Chen Ming could only use a different method to make it loyal to him for all eternity.
Incidentally, he could also gain an extra treasure chest.
There were many methods, it just depended on how Chen Ming liked to play.
He took out the black technology binoculars he had previously fished up, unfolded the tripod, set it up, and closely monitored the young dragon's every move.
Using the advantage of the high terrain, he clearly saw it land about a kilometer away.
Shortly after landing, it flew up again and turned back towards the villa.
Chen Ming lowered the lens and saw clearly that the young dragon was firmly grasping a dozen-meter-long python with one dragon claw. The python was clearly infected with the Zombie virus and had mutated.
The python attempted to attack the young dragon by coiling around it, but its strength was utterly insufficient and served no purpose.
A moment later.
Boom!
The descending strong wind hit them, stirring Chen Ming and Bai Yuan's hair.
The little fellow easily tore off the mutated python from its leg with its dragon mouth and handed it to Chen Ming.
Chen Ming instinctively took half a step back, raised his hand, and blocked his face, saying with a forced smile, "I appreciate the thought, you just eat it yourself."
He had just said it casually, never thinking that the little fellow would actually slurp up the mutated python like noodles.
It perfectly demonstrated what it meant to swallow something whole without chewing.
More importantly, it had grown again!
"..." Chen Ming froze for half a second.
He hadn't expected his conjecture to actually happen before his eyes.
The young dragon could strengthen itself by devouring Zombies and monsters infected with the Zombie virus, and it wouldn't be infected by the virus or turn into a Zombie.
He was just a pure cheat, not a scientist, so he didn't understand the principle behind it.
He only knew that this was definitely good news for him.
In the apocalypse, everything was lacking, except for Zombies and various monsters.
Buzz buzz buzz!
The familiar rotor sound of a drone entered his ears.
The little fellow and Bai Yuan immediately entered a combat-ready state, poised for action.
Chen Ming turned to look.
Regardless of size, refinement, or the red words "Peregrine Falcon" on the fuselage.
He recognized this as a drone that only the official side could use.
They must have noticed him because of the young dragon's appearance.
