Chapter 185: LETTER FROM WADE"I’m actually quite free. We haven’t attended any tea parties as a family lately. Only mama has been attending her friends’ tea parties." Aristia muttered to herself as she stroked Millie’s soft furry body.

Aristia felt that life was peaceful now that there were no tea parties bugging her. But she also felt that it also wasn’t as entertaining.

To her, it was interesting to watch the silent battles between the aristocracy. It served as a source of entertainment for her.

She wasn’t the only one. There were many in the aristocracy who also found it very interesting.

Just as Aristia was thinking that, Adeline came toward her.

Adeline’s eyes landed on the daemon that was still in her fox form and that lay beside Aristia on the bed.

The daemon didn’t react when she entered as she had more or less gotten used to those around her human and knew they weren’t threats.

"Princess, a letter arrived from the young master of Marquis Oswalt."

[Have I jinxed myself?] Aristia thought with exasperation before the words from Adeline registered in her mind.

[From Wade? This is a first.]

Wade had never sent her a letter before even though he had come to her mansion more than a few times and could be considered a friend.



"Give it to me." She made a receiving gesture with her hand.

Adeline handed her the envelope with the letter inside. The envelope was still sealed and the letter was unopened.

Grabbing the small knife Adeline was holding, she sliced through the wax seal of the envelope and took out the letter, then read it silently to herself.

"Wade asked if I could come to his home." She muttered, looking up from the letter.

"Will you be going, princess?" Adeline asked, going to collect the letter from her.

"Hmm..." Aristia contemplated, her gaze stopping at the date on the letter. "Yes, I’ll go. I’ll write back a reply."

[I wonder what happened.]

Adeline nodded, "I will prepare the paper and ink." She walked to Aristia’s drawer and took out a paper, quill and ink.

Aristia got up and moved to her desk while Millie stayed put on the bed. She picked up the quill, dipped it in ink, and began to write a reply.

She usually replied to her friends’ letters personally instead of asking Adeline or Owen to do it. Owen usually handled the business letters and Adeline handled those from other aristocrat children.

She put down the quill and left the ink to dry.

Then, she returned to her previous seat and picked up her sewing material. Adeline would take care of the letter.

After some time had passed, Aristia raised the almost completed doll to see. It still needed a few more stitches.

She got back to work immediately, sewing the doll carefully. It wasn’t very easy and fast as most of the stitches were done by hand.

She put down the doll after the last needed stitching was completed.

"I wonder if she will like it." She said thoughtfully.

"Princess has spent so much time making this doll. She will like it very much." Adeline couldn’t help but say.

Apart from how much time Aristia had put into making the doll, the doll was also beautiful.

’Princess even used some of the expensive silk, cotton and satin fabrics given as gifts by the aristocrats.’ Adeline thought.

If the aristocrats found out that their expensive gifts meant to show their well wishes was used to sew a doll for a commoner, they would probably vomit blood.

"Maybe..." Aristia shrugged. "I’ll give it to her the next time we go to the Kendall sisters home."

Knock. Knock. Knock.

A knock sounded on the door before it opened.

Catherine came in holding a small tray in her hands. She smiled softly at Aristia as she walked towards her.

Adeline bowed in greeting and left to give the mother and daughter some time alone.

"Mama," Aristia smiled at Catherine.

Catherine put the tray on the bed and patted the other side for Aristia to sit.

Aristia went over and sat down on the other side. Her eyes were attracted to the tray on the bed. There were cookies and two glasses of juice.

Catherine picked up a cookie and handed it to Aristia.

Aristia took it and moved her gaze back to Catherine.

"Thank you, mama." She said.

Catherine smiled softly at her as she also took a cookie for herself.



At this point, Aristia no longer wondered why Catherine came to see her whenever the latter did.

She had already accepted Catherine as her mother a long time ago and she knew that in Catherine’s eyes, she was still her beloved daughter.

Catherine would naturally want to spend some time with her daughter and Aristia wasn’t against that.

Catherine’s eyes drifted to the doll lying on the table and then back to Aristia.

"You made a doll?" She asked a question that did not seem like one.

Of course she knew Aristia had been making a doll, but she only asked now.

Aristia nodded, swallowed the cookie in her mouth and replied. "Yes. There’s someone I’m making it for. One of the girls living under the care of the Kendall sisters. She’s around my age and my... friend, Leilani."

"Is that so?" Catherine asked with a small smile. Even though she smiled, she looked like she didn’t know how else to react to that information.

Aristia paused, then nodded. She told Catherine everything that had happened that day involving Leilani.

"Leila only has two dolls, and they are very old. So, I thought to make her a new one. I’ve not wrapped the gift yet."

"That... is very kind of you, Tia." Catherine smiled fondly. "Leilani will appreciate your gift."

She was happy with the changes in her daughter. She had gone from being bratty to more considerate.

She loved her daughter before no matter what she did and the way she behaved. She would never spare anyone that acted carelessly with Aristia. But seeing her daughter like this also made her exceptionally happy and proud.

Aristia would say that the original Aristia’s parents sponsored her attitude, because instead of correcting their daughter, they defended her.

They wouldn’t allow her to be wronged for anything and would teach anyone who acted thoughtlessly or bad towards her a lesson, vigorously protecting her.

Their oversupportive attitude encouraged the original Aristia. Everyone was careful around her to avoid getting on her parents’ bad side and incurring their wrath.

The titles ’her parents’ beloved’ and ’the apple of her family’s eye’ was not for nothing. The royal family and her mother’s family also turned a blind eye to her actions.

[If they had descriptions, Catherine and Wilson would have a sigh over their heads saying ’My daughter can afford to offend you.’]

Remembering something, Catherine opened her mouth. "Marchioness Eldridge will be hosting a tea party in two weeks. We will be attending."

As soon as Catherine completed her words, Aristia’s face fell a bit.

Catherine sighed and rubbed her daughter’s head comfortingly. She knew that her daughter no longer liked to attend social events but she was doing this with her daughter’s interests at heart.

Her daughter had to associate with the aristocracy for her own benefit. It would be good for her to have personal connections.

"Okay, mama." Aristia nodded. She was aware of Catherine’s reason for wanting her to be present at social events.

[And it’s at Alicia’s home. I guess it’s not so bad.]

Knock. Knock.

Light knocks sounded on the door.

"Come in." Aristia granted permission to whoever was on the other side to come in.

The door slowly opened and Alaric came into the room.

"Al, you’re back." Aristia smiled at her little brother.

He had gone out with their father some time after his class had ended.

"Tia, Mama." Alaric smiled back and quickened his steps.

Catherine smiled at him and gave him soft pats on his head.



"Did you enjoy your time with papa?" She asked.

"Mhm," Alaric nodded his head. His gaze landed on the cookies on the tray.

"Have one," Aristia picked up a cookie and handed it to him.

Alaric munched on the cookie while climbing into the bed beside Aristia. Millie was now lying quietly behind Aristia.

There were only two drinks so Aristia handed him her glass of juice.

"Thank you, Tia," Alaric beamed, collected the mug and took a sip.

The sun had finally set when Catherine left the room with Alaric.

"Oh, I almost forgot." Catherine stopped in front of the door. "We will be visiting your uncle’s wife Vasily tomorrow."

Saying that, she left the room with Alaric’s hand in hers.

Aristia nodded to herself since Catherine couldn’t see her.

She hadn’t seen Vasily in a while as the latter hadn’t been present in social events and wasn’t tutoring anyone for the time being.

"Aunt Vasily should be in her eight month now." She muttered. "She’ll give birth soon. I’ll have a second cousin."
