121: Guo Shuangcai's admonition

When Shen Qian was returning to school, Qin Lan called him.

"How is it? Is everything handled?"

"You have no idea, it was truly spectacular. Aside from those three, isn't there one local? The other two families treated the local one like a sucker, refusing to pay more. They insisted the local family pay half, while the two out-of-towners would each pay a quarter."

"The local family wasn't happy about that. It was Li Ran who started the trouble, and it was Li Ran who said I was being kept. Why should her family have to pay the most in the end?"

"Then the families started tearing into each other right there in the Counselor's office. The local family didn't care about their reputation anymore; the insults they hurled were incredibly foul."

"The Counselor tried desperately to stop them but couldn't. Finally, the Counselor lost their temper too and threatened them with expulsion. Only then did they settle down."

"They didn't make things difficult for you, did they?"

"They wouldn't dare!! Make things difficult for me? All I have to do is call the police and they'll definitely be expelled. So even if they're furious, they just bicker amongst themselves. They don't even dare to come near me."

"That's good. Once this is over, I'll treat you and your Counselor to a meal. Although they were the ones in the wrong, since we've caused some trouble, we should handle the follow-up."

"I'll do whatever you say. Little brother, I really love you to death. You're so good, and you think of everything so thoroughly. Tell me when you're free, and I'll practice my mouth with you again."

"Can we practice anywhere?"

"You're so naughty! Of course, as long as the Master is willing, anywhere is fine."

After hanging up, Shen Qian contacted Song Shulu. Guo Shuangcai had already been in touch with her, and the two had agreed on a price for the piano of about 1.24 million. The remaining 760,000 would be used for building a piano room and for performance bonuses for the academy.

Shen Qian knew that out of that 760,000, maybe twenty or thirty thousand would actually go toward building a piano room, and another ten or twenty thousand would be given to students as bonuses. The rest would likely end up in the leaders' pockets.

"Shen Qian, I want to thank you. This donation of yours is a huge help to my work."

Shen Qian scoffed inwardly. I spent 2 million, which is like giving those old fogies over 700,000 for free. If that didn't help, those old guys would be way too greedy.

"Shulu, I spent 2 million, and you're just giving me a verbal thank you? That's not very sincere."

"I understand. In a couple of days, the academy leaders want to meet you for a meal. Also, I'm... not quite convenient these next two days."

Shen Qian recalled what he had just said. It was clearly just a simple joke without any hidden meaning. Could it be that this woman was overthinking things again?

But it didn't matter. Wasn't this exactly why he spent the 2 million? Besides pursuing Song Shulu, he might even get new achievement points and scumbag behavior.

"Alas, despite how fast I swing the hoe, I haven't even finished digging up a partner before I've started digging at a marriage."

"Shulu, did you misunderstand me? What I meant was, you have to treat me to a meal. This time, according to my taste, let's have Huaiyang cuisine."

On the other side, Song Shulu's face turned visibly red in an instant. She felt like her brain was about to crash. What on earth had she just said! What did she mean by 'not convenient' these next two days! The person on the other end was a normal adult male; he must have understood!

"Right, right... what I meant just now was, was..."

"Shulu, you don't need to explain. Since you can still take my call today after I kissed you that day, it means you've accepted me."

"Just this point alone makes me very happy. I know doing this is wrong, but I just can't help myself."

"If one day something really does happen between us, then let nature take its course. If what I've done can help you, I'm already very happy."

"Shen Qian, thank you. I understand what you mean. If that day comes, I won't run away."

After hanging up, Shen Qian felt it was necessary to ask Guo Shuangcai about the situation, so he went to Entrepreneurship Street to discuss the specifics with her.

"I heard you joined the Mahjong Club."

Guo Shuangcai asked this out of the blue.

"Yes. Senior, you seem quite concerned about my schedule."

"Can I take that as you flirting with me?"

Shen Qian shrugged.

"So what? Senior is so beautiful anyway, there must be plenty of people flirting with you."

"I don't know what your purpose is for joining the Mahjong Club, but I'll give you a word of advice: it's best to stay away from Feng Qinmian. She's different from Xie Wan—very different."

"Hmm?" Shen Qian looked at Guo Shuangcai. It seemed this senior knew something. But it made sense; she had always been screening Second-generation rich guys. That rich guy who disappeared might have been one of her targets too. After all, if Feng Qinmian could pick him, it wasn't impossible for Guo Shuangcai to have selected him as well.

"Why?" He asked knowingly. "I think Senior Feng is quite a nice person. Among the seniors I know, she has the best temper."

Guo Shuangcai crossed her arms.

"Oh? So, her temper is better than mine?"

"They're different; they can't be compared."

"Can't be compared? Does that mean I'm not even qualified to be compared to her?"

"That's not what I meant. I mean, Senior, you are mature and intellectual, while she is gentle and emotional. One is a sexy and mature sister, the other is a caring sister. They're not the same type at all, so how can they be compared?"

"For example, right now, I couldn't ask Senior Feng to help me buy a piano, connect me with teachers, or arrange all those things, right?"

"Hmph, you certainly know how to talk. But I still have to warn you: it's best to stay away from her. Isn't Xie Wan quite interested in you? You could interact with her more."

"Forget about her. The two of us would like nothing more than to bite each other to death."

As Shen Qian spoke, he thought back to the scene of them kissing last time. Both had been so involved that to an outsider, it really did look like they were trying to devour each other.

"Senior, did something bad happen with Senior Feng? You're suddenly saying all this."

Guo Shuangcai glanced at Shen Qian. She initially didn't want to say anything, but finally, she spoke up.

"It was back when I was in my second year. I had a junior in the same year as Feng Qinmian. He was also a Second-generation rich kid, and not just a minor one." As she spoke, she pointed to the watch on Shen Qian's wrist.

"Back then, he was wearing a richard mille, the three-million-dollar model."

"Tsk, it's just a richard mille. It's not like nobody can afford it."

Shen Qian muttered disdainfully.

"And then?"

"And then, he became Feng Qinmian's Boyfriend, since they were both in their first year."

"But later, according to his friends, not only was the watch on his wrist gone, he had even taken out online loans. Besides that, he was borrowing money from others."

"It was a big deal in our small circle at the time. Even I was asked for ten thousand yuan, which was never paid back."

She was definitely hiding some information, like how she might have pursued that rich guy herself. But the hidden details weren't important. Shen Qian looked at Guo Shuangcai.

"Could it be... Senior Feng did it?"

"I don't know the specifics, but afterward, a message was passed around our small circle: if you don't want to lose everything, stay away from Feng Qinmian."
