135: Let's see who has more money.
"4,000 times!"
Feng Qinmian felt that this man must be crazy; he was betting 4,000 times, which meant if he bet blind, it would be equivalent to 8,000 times.
The ante was clearly only 1,000 yuan, but now it had turned into 8 million!
The victory or defeat of this single round had soared to 8 million; on the gambling table, it was just a number, but in reality, it was a lifetime's worth for a family.
She knew Bai Xiu was wealthy, but even for Bai Xiu, taking out 8 million all at once would probably be painful.
"What's wrong, Senior? Are you scared? Do you want to fold?"
Bai Xiu's expression shifted from fierce to suddenly somewhat indifferent.
"Why should I fold? Since Junior wants to play, let's play to the end. 5,000 times, I'm calling you."
"Senior is generous," Shen Qian said as he revealed his cards.
A pair of 9s with a 6.
Bai Xiu also revealed her cards one by one: a pair of Jacks with a 4.
"Junior, it seems your luck is a bit lacking compared to mine."
"Hmph, it's just 10 million, no big deal!"
Shen Qian looked calm on the surface, but a closer look revealed he was a bit flustered.
This wasn't 100,000 or 1 million; it was a full 10 million.
A typical Second-generation rich kid might have 200,000 to 300,000, or at most 2 to 3 million; even the more impressive ones would only have around 10 million. Yet, in this single round, Shen Qian had lost 10 million.
"Junior, every round must be settled immediately; no arrears allowed." Bai Xiu was in a great mood. She knew Shen Qian might be a fat sheep, but she hadn't expected him to be this fat.
She had also guessed his intentions; he wanted to use money to pressure her. If he kept doubling the bet, she might not be able to hold out and would be forced to fold. But he hadn't expected her to also have nearly 10 million in assets.
"Don't worry! I won't owe you anything!"
Three staff members entered. After Shen Qian paid the 10 million, the second round for the three of them began.
"1,000 times, blind."
As the dealer, Bai Xiu started with 1,000 times, immediately putting the pressure on the next player, Shen Qian.
"3,000 times, I'm betting blind too!"
"I fold."
"Stop folding all the time. Go against her; I don't believe the two of us together can't beat her luck."
"But, but I don't have that much money." Feng Qinmian looked at Bai Xiu with some fear, then at Shen Qian.
"Just keep calling; help me put the pressure on her!"
"Then... next round. I've already folded this one."
"Then next round it is. Whatever happens, don't fold in the next one!"
"3,000 times. Tsk tsk, Junior, why does it feel like you're not as generous as you were in the last round?"
"Cut the crap!"
"Fine, 5,000 times, I'll keep betting blind."
"7,000 times, I'm not calling yet."
Bai Xiu's voice was soft, yet it felt like a thousand pounds of force striking Shen Qian's chest. For a moment, Shen Qian's brow furrowed deeply.
Finally, he picked up his cards, took a look, and threw the three cards out.
"Fold."
"What's wrong, Junior? Are you scared? Could it be you're out of money?"
"Tch!!!"
Shen Qian ignored her and focused on the next round.
In the third round, Bai Xiu was still the dealer, and she started by betting 5,000 times blind.
"Who plays like that!"
Shen Qian glanced at Feng Qinmian. She didn't speak, but her eyes seemed to be sending him a signal.
"You two, pay attention. This is a gambling table. If I catch you looking at each other or sending signals again, I won't be lenient!"
Shen Qian picked up his cards and took a look. Three Kings—the highest Leopard set besides three Aces.
"10,000 times!"
"Ah!?" Feng Qinmian was clearly terrified. She hadn't expected Shen Qian to call 10,000 times; that meant the starting bet was now 10 million.
"I fold."
Shen Qian glared fiercely at Bai Xiu.
"Your turn."
"Junior is so confident, your hand must be quite large. I fold."
"You!!!" Shen Qian's composure instantly shattered. That was a Leopard of Kings—a hand you might not see in many rounds—and she actually folded!
"What's wrong, Junior? Am I not allowed to fold?"
Bai Xiu smiled as she walked over to Shen Qian and flipped over his three Kings.
"Oh my, lucky me. If I had followed, I'm afraid even I would have been dragged down."
"Just you wait! I'm going out to make a call."
Shen Qian said as he left the room, returning a moment later. Bai Xiu knew he had likely gone to ask for money, and by the looks of it, he got it.
Who on earth is behind him? They're so powerful!
Bai Xiu was curious, but now that the other party was in the game, unless they voluntarily stopped, trying to renege would be against the rules, even if the person behind Shen Qian stepped in.
"Junior, don't say I didn't warn you. There are certain rules everyone must follow. Once this next round starts, there's no backing out."
"An old woman is an old woman after all, so much nagging."
"What did you say?"
"What? You're a third year and I'm a first year. Is there a problem with you being older than me?"
"Fine, fine, fine. Very well then. Let's go."
As this round began, Shen Qian didn't look at his cards; instead, he looked at Bai Xiu.
"3,000 times, blind!" Bai Xiu started with 3,000 times, then stared fiercely at Shen Qian, her disgust unconcealed.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Careful or you might fall in love with me. 5,000 times, I'm betting blind too!"
"Then I'll go 8,000 times."
Shen Qian glanced at Feng Qinmian; it seemed this woman had a substantial hand.
"10,000 times. Junior, do you still dare to test your luck?"
"20,000 times, blind."
Shen Qian's voice rang out, devoid of emotion, yet the number he called was crazier than a madman's.
If he lost this round, it would be 40 million. What did 40 million mean? Even in Shanghai with so many companies, ignoring profit and just talking about turnover, some reasonably sized companies might not even reach 40 million.
"Junior, aren't you a bit too confident in your luck!"
"Aren't you the same, Senior? We're already at 10,000 times. What's the point of adding a thousand at a time? Why not just go all-in and play big."
"Do you even have 40 million?"
"You can verify my assets, but likewise, I want to verify yours."
"Besides the money you just lost, I have 30 million in hand. Additionally, I have a house in Beijing under my name worth about 60 million. You tell me, is that enough?"
"You say it's worth 60 million and it's 60 million? I have cold, hard cash. Do you have the property deed?"
"Don't be in such a hurry," Bai Xiu said as she dialed her phone.
"Uncle De, bring me a property deed. The one for the place in Beijing's Second Ring Road."
Seeing the other party hang up, Shen Qian smiled.
"It seems Senior is going to see this through to the end."
"Since you're giving me money, I have no reason to refuse."
"Senior, being too confident isn't necessarily a good thing," Shen Qian was saying.
"30,000 times, blind." The speaker was none other than Feng Qinmian.
