182: This solves the problem.

"Regarding Sweetheart Wei's treatment, we specifically studied the case and developed a plan. It might not actually require overseas treatment; with the current level of medical care in China, a cure is still possible.

After all, China is no worse than foreign countries."

The man in the white coat spoke with absolute certainty, but Shen Qian found it laughable. Wei Meng, a grown man, had been forced to kneel before him, clearly indicating he had begged these doctors many times before.

And the corresponding excuse must have been that domestic medical technology wasn't up to par, so the treatment had to be done abroad.

In reality, it wasn't that domestic medical technology wasn't up to par.

It was that advanced domestic medical technology wasn't used on ordinary people; ordinary people were just there to generate profit for the hospital.

If he had just been rich and come here, he probably would have just been a fat sheep waiting to be slaughtered. But he had come through the principal's connections, and the principal's connection was at least a Vice President at this hospital.

"Oh? Domestic technology works? But as far as I know, the foreign standards for this disease seem higher, and they have specific machines that we don't have here."

"Mr. Shen, you jest. Domestic medical care has been developing for so many years that there is practically no difference compared to foreign countries. We have the machines they have, and our technology is just as good. Furthermore, many of our doctors have returned after studying abroad. You can rest assured about that."

Shen Qian nodded slightly. The smell of alcohol on him was impossible to hide, and this was intentional. If he had dressed formally and acted humbly, these guys might not have believed he had much influence.

But now, having had a few drinks, just dropping by for a casual look and solving the problem effortlesslythis was the proper demeanor of someone in a high position.

Just as they were talking, the ward door was pushed open again.

The newcomer looked quite old, but his spirit was vigorous. He wore gold-rimmed glasses, and his gaze sharpened slightly as he faced the crowd of doctors.

"Director Dai."

Someone called out. Shen Qian looked at the old man, and the old man looked back at him, his previously serious face breaking into a smile, just like a kind grandfather.

"I presume you are Nephew Shen? Ah, truly a talented young man! No wonder your principal praised you repeatedly, calling you a dragon among men.

I didn't believe it at first, but now I see he certainly wasn't exaggerating! Hahahahahaha!"

When the old president laughed, the group of people around him followed suit.

"Uncle Dai, let's go outside to talk. Let the little girl and her father stay here for a while."

"No problem, of course, no problem. Come, let's go to my office. I have good tea there, just right to sober up my nephew."

"Uncle Dai, are you blaming me for coming here after drinking?"

"Oh, not at all! With all the socializing involved, even this old man drinks often, let alone a talented young man like my nephew."

The old man was grinning on the surface, but cursing internally. But there was nothing he could do; a single higher rank was enough to crush a person, and the person behind this young man was more than just one rank above him. Forget saying a few strange words; even if the young man slapped him twice, he would have to give a thumbs-up and say, "That was a good slap, Nephew."

After all, if the hospital's internal affairs weren't investigated, things were fine. But if someone high up took a serious look, and this young man put in a few words, this old man might end up spending the New Year behind bars this year.

Shen Qian walked into the office. The hospital president's office didn't look very luxurious; in fact, it was rather simple, but it lacked nothing essential.

And judging by the sofa, probably not many people sat there on a daily basis.

"Uncle Dai, I won't beat around the bush. Regarding Wei Meng's daughter, I hope you can quickly produce a treatment plan for me. We can certainly have meals and drinks together normally, but having me run back and forth to the hospital every few dayshehe, my family says that might not be very auspicious."

"Understood, understood! Nephew, please rest assured. After Old Fu called me, I immediately had them start researching a plan. This disease is quite special, but it shouldn't take more than a few days for the plan to be finalized."

I will assign someone to supervise the entire process, ensuring the child regains health in the quickest and most efficient manner possible."

"That's good. But there's no need to rush. Stability is more important than speed, Uncle Dai. Wouldn't you agree?"

"Of course, for the child's health, this approach is definitely the best."

"Well, Uncle Dai, I won't bother you any longer. If there's an opportunity later, I'd like to gather with the uncles. Uncle Dai can set up the meeting, and I will certainly attend."

Out of everything discussed, this last sentence was the most crucial. Connections are essential for two things: having them, and being able to use them.

Shen Qian's final sentence was actually sending a signal: I can let you use this connection of mine once.

As for how to use it, Director Dai would have to assess the value himself. He was already old, and the probability of further promotion was low, but there were still many people below him, and perhaps many people in his own family.

In Shanghai, there was no shortage of rich and powerful people, and those people wouldn't put a mere president like him in their eyes. But Shen Qian was different; he represented a very rare, high-level connection.

When Shen Qian left, there was a box in the trunk. In the president's words, this was a "Special Treatment Plan." Shen Qian naturally knew what was inside, and he didn't refuse, letting Wei Meng drive away immediately.

On the road, Wei Meng's heart was finally at ease, so he drove the car much more steadily.

"It seems your daughter won't have to go abroad. That's good, too, since if she were overseas without her father nearby, the child would surely miss you."

"Mr. Shen, thank you. I truly don't know how I can ever repay you."

"Repaying me is simple: just do your job well. How are you at cooking?"

"I'm... passable."

"Use the box of money in the trunk to rent a shop near Hushi University and open a fried rice restaurant. That way, it will be convenient for you to rush over quickly when I call you."

"The trunk..." Wei Meng wasn't stupid; he naturally knew what Shen Qian was referring to. It was just that this was the first time he had experienced such a thing. He couldn't believe Shen Qian went to the hospital, not only solved the problem without spending money but also received a box of cash.

It was hard to imagine that just a few days ago, he was a pitiful man desperately begging for medical funds, yet good fortune had suddenly smashed down upon him.

In the past, his mind was solely focused on his daughter; he had never considered his own future or prospects.

But just like that, suddenly, his future had brightened.

Overcome with emotion, the man silently sobbed in the front seat.

"Cry less in front of me from now on. You're a grown man; if you keep crying, you might cry away your daughter's good fortune."

"Yes, Mr. Shen!"
