27: A lot of gains

After reeling in the rod, he cast it in another direction. Generally, where there is a school of fish, there won't be other fish, except for the school's natural predators.

After waiting for a while, the fishing rod finally moved. Based on the feedback from the rod's tension, this should be a small fish, around one jin.

Chen Xiangbei slowly reeled in the rod, and a small fish with a reddish body color and golden threads growing on its surface was pulled up.

This was a Golden Thread Fish. The flesh of this fish is suitable for pan-frying. The price generally ranges from 30 to 80 yuan per jin.

Golden Thread Fish are relatively small, with adult weight usually around 500 grams, a typical small fish species.

It is one of the main fish species along the coast of Linhai City, with a decent population. Fishermen often catch them when going out to sea.

After catching a full box of Golden Thread Fish, Chen Xiangbei stopped fishing.

He took these two boxes of fish back to the car and put them away, preparing to change to a different section of the river to fish for freshwater fish.

Sea Bream can be kept alive for a while after being brought ashore, but Golden Thread Fish cannot; they turn belly up shortly after being brought ashore.

Chen Xiangbei replaced the water in one of the boxes with seawater to see if these Sea Bream could survive until evening.

The Golden Thread Fish were neatly arranged one by one in a foam box.

After doing all this, he drove back to the main channel of Zhu River to continue fishing.

...

At five o'clock in the afternoon, after a whole afternoon of fishing, the catch was just average. This also reflected the difficulty of fishing in the main river channel.

Apart from the marine fish caught earlier, there were mostly common domesticated fish like Carp, Crucian Carp, Bighead Carp, and Grass Carp, with fewer high-value species.

The only ones that could fetch a slightly higher price were a few local Catfish and two large Softshell Turtles.

Local Catfish have firm flesh and are as popular as their relative, the Pond Catfish. The market price ranges from 50 to 80 yuan per jin.

And Softshell Turtles also have certain value in terms of consumption and medicinal use.

Their meat is delicious, rich in protein and vitamins. Once wild Softshell Turtles appear on the market, they are bound to be sold out quickly.

Wild Softshell Turtle prices are very high, ranging from 120 to 1500 yuan per jin.

Chen Xiangbei organized the catch, putting the seawater fish in one box and the freshwater fish in another, then navigated to a nearby wet market and drove over.

Before 5:30, he arrived at a wet market called Qingxi Market.

This wet market is a bit special; the main entrance requires walking a distance from the road, and cars cannot drive in.

Chen Xiangbei parked at the entrance, and without obstructing others, began to hawk his goods.

"Selling fish! Selling fish! Fresh marine fish, freshwater fish, selling cheap!"

"Come take a look, everyone, Brother, Sister, Uncle, Auntie!"

He shouted for a while, and at first, no one paid him much attention, but when one person stepped forward, others followed suit.

Someone asked, "Mr., what kind of fish do you have?"

Chen Xiangbei replied, "Come, come, let me open it for you to see." With that, he opened the lid of the fish box.

"Look, this box is all seawater fish, including Black Sea Bream, Red Sea Bream, and these Golden Thread Fish."

"This box is freshwater fish, including Carp, Crucian Carp, Silver Carp, and Grass Carp, as well as some local Catfish. Look, there are also two large wild Softshell Turtles here, each weighing seven or eight jin, which are great tonics," Chen Xiangbei introduced them separately.

The crowd looked at the lively fish, feeling tempted, calculating which kind of fish to buy.

At this moment, an Auntie spoke up.

"Little Boss, I want a Silver Carp around five jin, how do I buy it?"

"Silver Carp is 13 yuan per jin. I can pick a good one for you, okay?"

"That's perfectly fine, help me get one."

Chen Xiangbei scooped a Silver Carp out of the water, it weighed 5 jin and 6 liang, totaling 72.8 yuan.

"Auntie, this fish is 5 jin and 6 liang, 72.8 yuan. I'll round it down to 70 yuan for you, here you go."

The Auntie paid and said, "Thank you, Little Boss, I'll come back to buy fish from you next time."

"Boss, I want a Red Sea Bream, find me the biggest one, and please double bag it for me," a Brother in a suit shouted.

"Alright, I'll find it for you right away. Red Sea Bream is 120 yuan per jin, is that acceptable?"

"The price doesn't matter, I'm in a hurry, please be quick."

Chen Xiangbei immediately took out the largest Red Sea Bream, then bagged and weighed it.

"It's a total of 13 jin and 4 liang, 1608 yuan. Just give me 1600 yuan. Scan the code here," he said, pointing to the QR code for payment.

"Boss, okay, payment sent."

"Alright, here's your fish! Welcome next time," Chen Xiangbei said.

That Brother took the fish and left in a hurry.

"Boss, how much are these Golden Thread Fish and the large Softshell Turtles?"

"Golden Thread Fish are 60 yuan per jin. These two Softshell Turtles are big, 600 yuan per jin, they are all wild. If they're not wild, I'll compensate you double," Chen Xiangbei stated confidently.

"I want this Softshell Turtle and three jin of Golden Thread Fish."

"Just a moment..."

"The Softshell Turtle is 7 jin and 2 liang, and the Golden Thread Fish are 3 jin, totaling exactly 4500 yuan."

Before he could finish speaking, the buyer had already started scanning the code to pay.

"Come, come, take a look! Wild marine fish, freshwater fish, selling cheap!"

"This is local Catfish, the meat is firm and delicious, do you want to buy one to try?" Chen Xiangbei said to the Auntie who was looking at the local Catfish.

"Oh, this is local Catfish, I thought it was Black Fish," the Auntie said sheepishly.

"I have Black Fish too, do you want one? If you do, I'll find one for you, around three or four jin."

"Okay, I want a Black Fish."

Chen Xiangbei found a Black Fish, bagged it, and weighed it.

"3 jin and 4 liang, 30 yuan per jin, total 102 yuan. Just give me 100."

"Thank you, Boss, I'll give you cash."

Chen Xiangbei handed the fish to the Auntie with his left hand and took the hundred yuan from the Auntie with his right hand.

...

It was almost 7 PM in the evening when Chen Xiangbei finished selling the fish.

The seawater fish sold for a total of 12360 yuan, and the freshwater fish sold for a total of 14136 yuan, making a grand total of 26496 yuan.

The high price for the freshwater fish was mainly due to the two Softshell Turtles; otherwise, it would have only sold for at most five thousand yuan.

Chen Xiangbei packed up his things and returned to Galaxy International.

Upon entering, he first took a shower to wash off the sweat and fishy smell, using half a bottle of body wash.

After showering, Chen Xiangbei went to the walk-in closet and fell into thought as he looked at the few pieces of clothing...

"It seems I need to buy more clothes, buy some in various styles, and try different outfits every day. Since I grew taller last time, my clothes don't feel very comfortable to wear."

He found a set of clothes that felt slightly more comfortable to wear, put them on, and then went out to eat.

Today, he wanted to eat Mala Xiang Guo. He found a restaurant near his home called "Shudu Mala Xiang Guo" and ordered a Family Feast with a mix of meat and vegetables.

The Mala Xiang Guo was served quickly. He ordered mild spicy. Although he liked spicy food very much, it was too hot to eat very spicy food, which could easily cause internal heat.
