58: Chapter 58 Po Jun Si
Lei Qianjue landed with Li Zhengyang on an open patch of ground.
There were no sentries at the entrance, only a statue.
It was a black dragon, crouched on a giant rock, its body exuding a terrifying aura that made Li Zhengyang's legs go weak.
The scales on the dragon's body were clearly visible, and a broken longsword was embedded in its head.
"This is a Martial Saint Rank demonic beast."
Lei Qianjue pointed at the statue. "You know about Martial Saints, right? They are the existence just below Martial Emperors."
Two people stood next to the stone tablet, wearing uniform black combat suits.
The moment they saw Lei Qianjue, the two bowed in salute simultaneously.
"Venerable Lei."
"Rise."
Lei Qianjue waved his hand. "This is a recruit, number 1001, Li Zhengyang. Have Zhao Yi take him through the procedures."
After saying this, he turned his head to look at Li Zhengyang.
"I still have matters to attend to. You should familiarize yourself with the environment first. If you have any questions, find Zhao Yi."
Li Zhengyang nodded.
Lei Qianjue's figure flickered and vanished from where he stood.
The two guards stood up and looked Li Zhengyang over. One of them picked up a communicator and made a call.
Before long, a person walked out from the depths of the valley.
He was in his early thirties, with short hair, a lean build, and a short beard around his chin.
"Zhao Yi, captain of the Seventh Squad of the Pojun Division."
He walked up to Li Zhengyang and scanned him up and down. "You're the recruit Venerable Lei mentioned?"
"Yes, I am Li Zhengyang."
Zhao Yi's gaze lingered on him for two extra seconds.
"Follow me."
After passing through the narrow entrance passage, the view suddenly opened up.
Li Zhengyang's steps slowed for a beat.
Before him was a semi-enclosed base.
The ground was paved with special plating, and dozens of spiritual energy rails hung overhead, with blue light points flowing along them at a constant speed.
Directly ahead was an arc-shaped building with an all-glass exterior wall; inside, one could vaguely see a large number of holographic projection screens in operation.
On the left was an open training ground where someone was currently running; the alloy plates beneath their feet were flipping irregularly, simulating various terrains.
On the right was a row of warehouse-style buildings, with several hover transport vehicles parked at the entrance, currently loading supplies.
Further away, a spire-like building pierced the sky, with a spherical device rotating at its tip, emitting a low-frequency buzzing sound.
"Everyone who comes here for the first time has that reaction."
Zhao Yi glanced back at him. "The budget for the Pojun Division is allocated separately by Great Xia, unlike the fortresses."
"The equipment here is at least several decades ahead of what's outside."
"How much did all this cost?"
Zhao Yi's steps paused.
"Why are you asking that?"
"Just asking."
Zhao Yi ignored him and kept walking.
The interior of the arc-shaped building was even more exaggerated.
The central hall had a ceiling over ten meters high, and all four walls were covered in live holographic screens.
The screens displayed real-time heat maps of demonic beast distribution in various areas outside the wall, spatial rift monitoring data, and personnel deployment status.
Dozens of staff members in black uniforms sat at their respective workstations, their fingers tapping rapidly on virtual keyboards.
"This is the Command Center."
Zhao Yi pointed. "All intelligence support for combat operations outside the wall comes from here."
He led Li Zhengyang through the hall and arrived in front of a side door.
"Equipment Department."
The door opened, and the room was filled with various weapons and protective gear.
Alloy shelves extended from the floor to the ceiling, with different models of weapons, armor, and auxiliary equipment placed on each level.
Li Zhengyang scanned the room and saw several spears.
They were all A-Rank or higher.
"The standard issue for the Pojun Division is A-Rank equipment," Zhao Yi explained. "If you have your own weapon, you can send it to the forging room to be upgraded."
Li Zhengyang thought of his own dragon gall golden spear that had been bent.
"My spear is in Venerable Lei's hands."
"It's fine. A recruit can receive an A-Rank weapon for free as their first weapon."
"Come on, let me take you to register first. You can claim your weapon after we get back."
After leaving the Equipment Department, Zhao Yi led him into another corridor.
"Identity Registration Office. Once that's done, you'll officially be a member of the Pojun Division."
The registration office was a small room with a desk, a piece of equipment, and a clerical worker sitting behind it.
The clerk was a young female martial artist, currently looking down and organizing documents.
Zhao Yi tapped on the desktop.
"Recruit registration, number 1001."
The female soldier looked up, glanced at Li Zhengyang, and then at Zhao Yi.
"Where are the documents?"
"Brought by Venerable Lei personally, using the special channel. The documents haven't arrived yet, so let's record the basic information first."
Hearing that he had backing, the woman nodded without asking further and brought up the registration interface.
"Name?"
"Li Zhengyang."
"Age?"
"Twenty."
"Rank?"
Li Zhengyang paused for a moment.
"First-grade Martial Emperor Rank."
The female soldier's hand, which had been typing on the keyboard, stopped.
She looked up, stared at Li Zhengyang, her mouth opening and then closing.
Then she turned her head to look at Zhao Yi, her brows furrowed tightly.
Zhao Yi was also stunned for a beat.
"What did you say?"
"First-grade Martial Emperor Rank."
Li Zhengyang repeated.
Zhao Yi swallowed hard.
He stared at Li Zhengyang for a few seconds, then turned and walked out.
"You wait here."
He walked out the door, pressed the communicator to his ear, and spoke in a very low voice.
Li Zhengyang stood where he was, his hands in his pockets.
The female soldier's hand hovered above the keyboard, unable to bring itself down.
She stole several glances at Li Zhengyang, her eyes darting around.
Members of the Pojun Division were at least Martial King Rank.
It wasn't like there weren't any Martial Emperor Ranks, but they were all old folks.
A twenty-year-old Martial Emperor?
Even if you have backing, you can't just spout nonsense!
Zhao Yi returned, the expression on his face very complex.
"Confirmed. That's the approval from Venerable Lei. First-grade Martial Emperor Rank, correct."
The female soldier took a deep breath and typed the words "First-grade Martial Emperor Rank" into the system.
Her hand was still shaking.
After recording the basic information, Zhao Yi took a flat silver box from a cabinet and placed it on the table to open it.
Inside lay a watch.
The dial was pure black, and the strap was made of some kind of flexible alloy material that felt comfortable against the skin.
"Tactical watch."
Zhao Yi handed the watch over. "Standard equipment for the Pojun Division."
Li Zhengyang took it and flipped it over.
"What are its functions?"
"Communication, positioning, data transmission, and mission reception."
Zhao Yi extended his own wrist, wearing the same model. "It can also connect to the Pojun Division's internal store. Equipment, pills, and spiritual materials can all be purchased directly on it."
"A store?"
Li Zhengyang slapped the watch onto his wrist.
The dial lit up, and a holographic panel popped up:
[Welcome to the Pojun Division, number 1001]
Immediately after, the main interface popped up.
Communication, Missions, Store, Map, Personal Dataβfive icons arranged neatly.
The first thing Li Zhengyang tapped on was the Store.
Zhao Yi: "..."
The store interface expanded, with categories densely packed.
Weapons, Armor, Pills, Spiritual Materials, Cultivation Techniques, Special Items.
Li Zhengyang flipped through two pages casually.
[Seventh-grade Flame Dragon Pill β After consumption, can increase blood energy circulation speed by 100%. Price: 5 million great xia currency]
