9: Chapter 9 The Last Tenderness

When she cried, he would imitate a dog barking to make her laugh.

When she was sad, he would tell jokes to make her laugh.

When she laughed, he would stand by, smiling and watching her.

When she was happy, they would both burst into laughter.

When she was tired, he would massage her back and shoulders.

When she was sick, he would stay by her side every day to take care of her, so she could get better quickly.

When she had her period, she was in excruciating pain. He thought something terrible had happened to her and was so anxious he was almost in tears. He quickly carried her to the hospital.

The doctor then said, "Her aunt has arrived; drink more hot water."

After they returned, he made her lie down or sit every day, taking on all the other chores himself. When she was in pain, he would rub his hands together to warm her lower abdomen, feed her hot water, and cook her brown sugar and ginger water... Later, whenever this incident was brought up, she would burst into laughter.

But what she didn't know was that it was the only time he had spent her period with her, and perhaps the last.

That day, her period had just ended.

Bai Lu, shy and emotional, said to him, "Ranran, I want to give my whole self to you!"

He shook his head and said to her affectionately, "No, you should save your most precious thing for your wedding night, to give to your Prince Charming!"

She was incredibly moved and hugged him tightly, crying for over half an hour.

Because she always believed that the Prince Charming he spoke of was him.

She thought he meant that he would only take her on their wedding night.

Therefore, she loved him even more, wishing she could merge her entire being into his body, becoming one, never to be separated again.

Every day after that, the two of them explored the streets and alleys of the Magic City, playing with all sorts of childish amusements.

She covered all the expenses, lavishly treating her beloved boy, but she didn't notice the fleeting look of disappointment in his eyes.

He could remember all her habits, what she liked, what she disliked, what she was allergic to... He remembered everything, absolutely everything.

Could she remember what he liked or disliked? Did she know what he was allergic to?

No one knew if she knew, perhaps she hadn't even cared about these things.

She felt that the past month, since knowing him, was the happiest time of her life.

Perhaps she was a prophet, and this month might indeed be the happiest time of her life... One day... This was a couple's restaurant that Bai Lu herself owned.

"Sister Bai Lu, are you free to go to the Magic City Starlight Gathering at 7 PM?"

"Oh! Ranran, you're asking me out again! (∗❛ั∀❛ั∗)✧*." Bai Lu's eyes sparkled with joy and excitement.

"Sister Bai Lu, are you coming or not?"

"It depends on a certain someone's performance. (´▽`)ノ♪"

Xiao Ran hesitated for a second, took Bai Lu's soft little hand, slowly brought it to his lips, and then gently kissed the back of her hand.

"Hmm, not bad performance. I'll reluctantly agree then! (v^_^)v"

She had no idea that this was Xiao Ran's last tenderness towards her... That night, the night was beautiful, the starlight flickered, and the moonlight was bright and boundless.

The city's hustle and bustle could not be heard at all in the revolving restaurant a hundred meters high; there was only the peaceful glow of the night view and the beauty of neon lights.

Xiao Ran was wearing a black suit, which Bai Lu had specially chosen for him, but she didn't know if Xiao Ran liked it.

Bai Lu, on the other hand, was wearing a purple long dress, exuding a hint of mature charm.

Her pretty face was slightly flushed, her teeth white and lips red, her figure curvaceous, her flowing hair cascading down, the brown tips slightly curled.

"Ranran, you haven't asked me out for days. Asking me to such a romantic aerial couple's restaurant today, you're not planning anything mischievous, are you?"

Bai Lu said playfully, her slightly mature face showing a hint of mischief.

However, Xiao Ran ignored her joke and looked at her with a serious expression.

This serious atmosphere made Bai Lu feel a little uncomfortable. Her keen intuition inexplicably made her feel anxious, as if something was about to be lost.

"What's wrong, Ranran! Has something happened? Tell me, I'll definitely help if I can." Bai Lu grasped his warm large hands, asking somewhat anxiously.

The light swept across Xiao Ran's handsome face, but unfortunately, it only reflected steadfastness and regret.

"Sister Bai Lu, let's break up."

His voice was light and calm, and he finally spoke those unforgettable words.

"Ranran, what's wrong with you? Why are you making such a joke? This joke isn't funny at all! Don't scare me!"

Bai Lu's face turned pale, her voice gradually rising, completely disregarding the stares of those around them.

Xiao Ran's gaze was firm as he slowly shook his head and said, "Sister Bai Lu, I'm serious, let's break up."

"Ranran, are you feeling unwell? Come on, let's go home, we're not eating!" Bai Lu pulled Xiao Ran's hand, attempting to lead him away from this sad place.

However, Xiao Ran remained motionless, sitting as steady as a mountain in his seat; Bai Lu's strength couldn't move him in the slightest.

"Ranran, did Sister upset you? Tell me, I'll definitely change!"

A few glistening tears had already appeared at the corners of Bai Lu's eyes, as if they were about to fall to the ground.

Xiao Ran shook his head, not speaking.

Because he was choosing his words, looking at which of his planned options would be more suitable.

"Ranran, don't be unhappy, Sister will bark like a dog for you too, woof woof woof... Just smile for me!"

Bai Lu's face had long lost its usual composure, replaced only by a pained mask of pleading. This was the first time she had barked like a dog for him!

Xiao Ran secretly shook his head. This Bai Lu was indeed not suitable for dating, and he wondered if the quality of this relationship was even high.

He sorted out his words, preparing to 'CPU' her, and spoke softly:

"Sister Bai Lu, do you understand me?"

"Ranran, what are you saying? Of course I understand you!" Bai Lu's eyes lit up, as if hope had returned.

"Then tell me, what dishes do I like to eat?"

"Sweet and sour pork ribs!" she blurted out.

"And?" He did like that, but how could it be so simple?

"Uh... and braised perch!" That barely counted.

"And?"

"Pickled cabbage fish?" Wildly off the mark!

"Alas ~ Sister Bai Lu, that's one of your favorite dishes. Your favorites also include stir-fried sea cucumber, steamed pork ribs, braised lion's head, clear soup hotpot, large crabs, crayfish, spicy chicken, stinky tofu..."

"Ranran, stop talking!" Bai Lu stepped forward and covered his mouth.

Xiao Ran gently pushed her hand away and said, "Sister Bai Lu, how many dishes do you know that I like to eat?"

Bai Lu stammered, her mind blank. She couldn't even think of a single dish name, because all she could think of were the ones she herself liked to eat.

She hadn't realized that he had remembered all of her favorites.

But what about her? She only remembered two dishes he liked!

She seemed to have really made a mistake! Why couldn't she have paid more attention to what he liked to eat normally?

Xiao Ran secretly revealed the Dragon King's wicked, charming smile. No rush, food was just the first step!
