46: Chapter 46 Three Slashes Down a Core Formation Realm cultivator

The intense pain drove Li Batian into complete madness; his once-majestic face was now hideously distorted by agony and rage.

Meanwhile, the members of the Demon Suppression Division stood there dumbfounded, their minds completely blank.

"I... I'm not seeing things, am I? Two slashes... with just two slashes, the Li Family Head... Li Batian of the third level of the Danyuan Realm, had an arm severed?!"

"This is the True Qi Realm? You're telling me this is the True Qi Realm? I reckon even the Lord Supervisor is only at this level!"

"King of Hell Lin... that nickname is still too conservative!"

Zhao Tie and Li Rui's faces were flushed with excitement, their eyes filled with fanatical adoration as they looked at Lin Feng.

In their hearts, Lin Feng was no longer a man, but a god!

"You little animal! I want you dead! I'll leave you without a whole corpse!"

Li Batian had completely lost his reason. On his remaining right palm, blue light flared brilliantly, and an illusory phantom of a Danyuan—appearing as if formed from endless water ripples—slowly emerged.

He was putting his life on the line!

"Third Slash: Dao Annihilation."

However, Lin Feng's voice rang out again, sounding like a final judgment from the depths of Hell.

Without anyone noticing when, he had already appeared above Li Batian's head.

He held his blade with both hands, raising it high. On that crimson-black Life-Slaying Blade, all light was completely withdrawn, as if it had become a black hole capable of devouring everything.

An indescribably terrifying aura, enough to make heaven and earth tremble, descended with a crash!

Li Batian looked up at that simple long blade that seemed capable of severing the Great Dao. In those eyes filled with madness and malice, for the first and last time, fear and despair from the depths of his Soul flickered.

He wanted to flee, but found his body—along with the surrounding space—seemed completely imprisoned by an invisible force.

He could only watch helplessly as that black 'Reaper's Scythe' slowly descended.

There was no earth-shattering roar, nor were there any flashy light effects.

The blade fell silently.

Li Batian's large, robust body suddenly stiffened.

In the next moment, a thin line of blood extended from the crown of his head all the way down to his crotch.

Then, under the horrified gazes of everyone present, this Danyuan Realm expert who had dominated Nanyan Prefecture for decades—the Head of the Li Family—split neatly into two like a cloven watermelon. With a 'thud,' blood and organs spilled across the ground.

He was as dead as could be.

[Ding! Successfully killed a level three Danyuan Realm Martial Artist!]

[Critical hit multiplier increased to 115x! Obtained 50,000 critical hit points!]

Lin Feng landed slowly and flicked non-existent blood from his blade, not even glancing at the two halves of the corpse still twitching on the ground.

He looked around at the Li family guards, who were already scared witless, and the members of the Demon Suppression Division. In a matter-of-fact tone, he said calmly:

"Li Batian, Head of the Li Family, provoked the Demon Suppression Division without cause and intended to assassinate a Copper Medal Demon Slayer. His crimes are heinous."

"I, Bronze Medal Envoy Lin Feng, execute him on behalf of the Demon Suppression Division."

"Who has an objection?"

...

The entire front courtyard of the Demon Suppression Division was deathly silent.

Everyone seemed frozen as if by a binding spell. They stared blankly at the two steaming halves of the corpse on the ground, then at the man holding the blood-dripping warblade with a calm expression, as if he had merely stepped on a cockroach. Their minds were blank.

An objection?

Who would dare have an objection?

Whose head was harder than Li Batian's?

The Li family guards, who were originally brimming with Killing Intent, were now scared out of their wits. One by one, they fell to their knees with a series of 'thuds,' weapons clattering to the ground. They buried their heads deeper than ostriches, terrified that the god of slaughter might spare them a second glance.

"No... no objections!"

"Lord Lin is mighty! Lord Lin is wise! That old scoundrel Li Batian got what he deserved! His death is not to be regretted!"

"Yes, yes, yes! We've long found him disagreeable! Lord Lin is ridding the people of a pest! We can't thank you enough!"

These people's integrity dropped faster than Li Batian's head.

Lin Feng curled his lip, too lazy to bother with these spineless cowards.

He sheathed his blade, his gaze falling upon the Silver-Rank Supervisor who had stood at a distance watching the battle in silence from start to finish.

The Supervisor's face was hidden in the shadows and couldn't be seen clearly, but Lin Feng could feel that deep gaze firmly locked onto him.

Lin Feng cupped his fists and said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "Your subordinate carried out an execution without authorization and overstepped the rules. I ask for the Supervisor's punishment."

"Punishment?"

The Supervisor slowly stepped out from the shadows. He wasn't smiling as usual; instead, his face carried an unprecedented seriousness.

He first scanned the wretched corpse on the ground, then glanced at the trembling crowd around them, and finally, his gaze returned to Lin Feng.

"What you did was not wrong."

The Supervisor's voice was steady and powerful. "The duty of our Demon Suppression Division is to slay demons and maintain the law. Anyone who dares to challenge the majesty of the Demon Suppression Division should end up like this."

These words were resonant and powerful, spoken not just for Lin Feng but for everyone present. They instantly stabilized morale and instilled a strong sense of pride and belonging in all the Demon Slayers.

Then, he commanded, "Clean this place up. Take everyone from the Li family into custody and interrogate them one by one."

"Yes!"

"Lin Feng, come with me."

Leaving those words behind, the Supervisor turned and walked toward the inner hall of the Demon Suppression Division.

Lin Feng's eyes flickered slightly. Without a word, he stepped forward and followed.

One after the other, they crossed the corridor and arrived at the quiet room where the Supervisor handled official business.

The quiet room was not large and the furnishings were simple, save for a huge map of Nanyan Prefecture hanging on the wall. It was dotted with red marks made with a cinnabar brush, clearly indicating unresolved cases.

The Supervisor closed the door, cutting off all outside noise.

He personally poured a cup of hot tea for Lin Feng, and the atmosphere in the room eased slightly from its previous Killing Intent.

"Sit."

The Supervisor pointed to the chair opposite him while he took the main seat. He picked up his teacup and blew gently on it, but did not drink.

"That slash of yours today was satisfying, and it showed off the might of our Demon Suppression Division."

"However, you have also pushed yourself into the eye of the storm."

"Your subordinate understands."

Lin Feng replied calmly, "If I hadn't done so, where would the majesty of the Demon Suppression Division be? Where would my own safety be? Blindly yielding would only make them push further."

"Well said."

The Supervisor nodded, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. "Brave and resourceful, decisive in slaughter—you are a good prospect. But have you considered that this entire matter has felt strange from start to finish?"

"I have dealt with Li Batian before. Although he was overbearing, he was by no means a brainless fool. What gave him such confidence that he dared to barge into the gates of the Demon Suppression Division to kill someone with only dozens of guards? And what made him so certain that you were the one who killed his son, without even a shred of doubt?"
