111: So it was him. No wonder!

The port was deathly silent.

The sea breeze swept through, carrying a faint scorched smell and the lingering scent of ozone, blowing past every figure standing frozen in place.

Captain Zhang Zhen opened his mouth, his throat so dry he couldn't make a sound.

He watched the young figure slowly descending from the sky, his mind still blank from the shock of the world-destroying scene just now.

The Spiritual Energy Bureau Agents behind him were even more like collective stone statues, their eyes filled with awe, shock, and the daze of surviving a disaster.

The crisis they had fought desperately against for so long, which had almost wiped them out, had been easily brushed away by the other party like a gentle breeze.

Is this the strength of the headquarters' special envoy commissioner, the "god of war of donghai" Chen Nian?

The rumors... turned out to be no exaggeration at all!

Chen Nian, however, didn't care about any of this.

He was simply very satisfied with the first combat results of the "Evil-Warding Heavenly Thunder."

With powerful might and a massive range, its efficiency in clearing Demonic Evils could be called perfect.

He slowly descended from mid-air, his feet landing softly on the solid concrete ground without making a sound.

His casual clothes didn't even have a single wrinkle, as if he hadn't just gone through a terrifying battle but had simply stepped out for a walk.

Zhang Zhen's body suddenly jolted, finally snapping back from that extreme shock.

He barely managed to control his trembling legs, hurried forward to meet him, and then bowed deeply.

His posture was respectful to the extreme.

“Spe... Special Commissioner Chen!”

“I am Zhang Zhen, Captain of the Binhai District Garrison Squad. Thank you for your support!”

“If you hadn't arrived in time, we might have been completely wiped out!”

His voice was slightly distorted due to excitement, but every word was filled with heartfelt gratitude and awe.

If not for the man before him, they would likely be dead without even a whole corpse by now.

However, Chen Nian didn't pay it much mind, only glancing at him casually and speaking in a flat tone.

“Tell me, what exactly happened here?”

“Before these Demonic Evils appeared, was there anything unusual?”

“For example, special energy fluctuations, abnormal tides, or did anyone witness anything out of the ordinary?”

His questions were simple and direct, without any unnecessary pleasantries.

Hearing this, Zhang Zhen didn't dare to be slow.

He immediately straightened his body and quickly organized his words to report everything he knew.

“Reporting to Special Commissioner Chen!”

“About half an hour ago, our Coastal Monitoring Station did indeed capture a burst of abnormal spiritual energy fluctuations.”

“The source of that energy seemed to be in the direction of the High Seas, but the energy fluctuation came and went quickly.”

“It vanished completely in just a few seconds; at the time, we thought it was an equipment malfunction...”

Hearing this, Chen Nian nodded thoughtfully.

The direction of the High Seas?

He turned his head slightly, looking toward that deep blue sea surface that appeared calm but was actually surging with undercurrents.

His perception, like invisible tentacles, instantly spread out, extending infinitely in the direction Zhang Zhen had mentioned.

Sure enough, within that bottomless ocean trench, he clearly sensed a faint but extremely sinister energy remnant slowly dissipating.

The essence of that energy shared the same root and source as that Giant Tortoise Demonic Evil from earlier, but it was countless times more massive and pure.

It was as if the Giant Tortoise Demonic Evil was merely formed from a negligible wisp of breath overflowing from this energy.

Chen Nian understood immediately.

These Demonic Evils rushing onto the port one after another were not the main force at all.

The true main army, the true core, was likely still in the depths of the High Seas, having not yet fully descended.

Having figured this out, Chen Nian gave a contemptuous laugh.

“It seems necessary to take a trip into the depths of the High Seas.”

His voice wasn't loud, but it clearly reached Zhang Zhen's ears nearby.

Zhang Zhen's heart skipped a beat, and a chill rushed from the soles of his feet straight to the top of his head.

Go to the depths of the High Seas?

But so many terrifying Demonic Evils had just emerged from there, and they only had a few people right now.

“Special Commissioner Chen!”

He almost blurted it out, his tone carrying an unmaskable anxiety.

“That sea area is too dangerous. Based on the energy fluctuations just now, the things down there are likely far beyond imagination.”

“We... we had better wait for the headquarters' main force to arrive before making further plans!”

In his view, although Chen Nian was incredibly powerful, what was hidden in the deep sea was an unknown, powerful, and terrifying existence.

The risk of them barging in now was simply too great.

However, Chen Nian just waved his hand casually.

“No need.”

His voice remained flat, showing no emotional fluctuations.

“Just a bunch of rabble, I don't even take them seriously.”

“By the time reinforcements arrive, it'll be far too late.”

His voice fell.

He no longer paid attention to the dumbfounded Zhang Zhen, nor did he heed the fanatically worshipful gazes behind him.

Blood Fiend Incarnation, activate!

His entire being instantly turned into a red phantom, soaring into the sky.

The red light drew a brilliant arc in the sky, shooting straight toward the direction of the deep High Seas.

The speed was so fast that in the blink of an eye, he became a tiny black dot and disappeared where the sea met the sky.

The port fell into a deathly silence once again.

Zhang Zhen and his squad members stood there blankly, mouths agape, unable to say a word for a long time.

“Special Commissioner Chen... just left like that?”

“Going alone to pursue the main force of those Demonic Evils?”

“My god, is this the style of a true powerhouse?”

After the brief silence, an even more intense discussion erupted among the crowd.

If Chen Nian's instant kill of the Giant Tortoise Demonic Evil had brought them a god-like shock before,

then at this moment, his back as he faced the deep sea forbidden zone alone brought them a kind of worship and submission bordering on faith.

Without a doubt, Special Commissioner Chen was the true powerhouse, the truly righteous person!

However, they didn't have much time to be shocked.

A series of rapid and orderly footsteps, accompanied by the roar of vehicles, came from the entrance of the port area.

Dozens of armored vehicles printed with the Spiritual Energy Bureau emblem whistled onto the scene.

The car doors opened in unison.

A large number of fully armed Spiritual Energy Bureau Agents with fierce auras surged out like a tide, quickly setting up a defensive formation on the port.

Their movements were efficient and skilled, clearly battle-hardened elites.

Leading them was a tall middle-aged man with a resolute face.

However, when this Commander and his elite troops saw the scene before them, all pre-planned combat strategies were instantly thrown out the window.

The entire main force froze in place collectively.

Where was the incredibly tragic battle they had imagined?

Where were the overwhelming Demonic Evils?

Where was the soaring Demonic Qi?

There was nothing.

There was only a mess, scorched marks all over the ground, and a thick, pungent smell in the air.

Further away, the surviving agents and civilians were all looking as if they had lost their souls, heads tilted up, staring in the same direction.

“What's the situation?”

The middle-aged Commander frowned and walked quickly to Zhang Zhen.

“Zhang Zhen, what happened here? Where are the Demonic Evils? Were they handled by you?”

His voice carried a hint of disbelief.

The scene before them had definitely undergone a great battle.

However, Zhang Zhen turned his head stiffly and shook it.

“It wasn't us.”

His voice was somewhat dry.

Hearing this, the Commander was surprised and asked, “It wasn't you? Then who was it?”

Zhang Zhen only smiled and shook his head, saying, “It was Special Commissioner Chen.”

“Special Commissioner Chen?!”

The middle-aged Commander was first stunned, his tone full of shock.

But then, as if he had thought of something, that shock quickly transformed into a complex emotion.

There was realization, a bitter smile, and also a hint of it being only natural.

The elite agents behind him also stirred upon hearing that name, but it quickly quieted down.

Everyone's faces showed the exact same expression as the Commander's.

It was as if the name "Chen Nian" itself represented all impossibilities.

“So it was him... that explains it.”

The middle-aged Commander sighed, seemingly accustomed to this kind of situation.

He asked again, “Then where is Special Commissioner Chen?”

Zhang Zhen raised his hand, pointing tremblingly toward that boundless sea.

“Special Commissioner Chen said these were just cannon fodder.”

“He has already gone alone to the depths of the High Seas to pursue the main force of the Demonic Evils.”

As soon as these words were spoken,

the "only natural" expression on the middle-aged Commander's face instantly froze.

An unprecedented seriousness climbed onto his face.

He stared fixedly at that calm sea, which might hide monstrous waves, and remained silent for a few seconds.

Then, he turned around abruptly and spoke to Zhang Zhen.

“Zhang Zhen squad, your mission is complete. Immediately lead your people to the rear to rest and reorganize. Leave the rest to us!”

After speaking, he no longer looked at Zhang Zhen but faced the hundreds of elites he had brought, letting out a thunderous roar.

“All personnel attention, prepare for combat!”

“Target: the High Seas. Full speed ahead!”
