31: Can you outrun me? Then why don't you try running one yourself?

Deep within the space, the light was distorted and dim.

Several Evil Cultivators in black robes stared fixedly at the light screen, their pupils contracting violently out of fear.

In the image, that young figure—Chen Nian—was currently moving through the Living Corpses and Ghostly Creatures.

These Living Corpses had been vibrant lives not long ago.

There were innocent civilians and Special Agents from the Spiritual Energy Bureau.

Their faces still bore the traces of how they looked when they were alive.

If one didn't look closely, they might not even be able to tell whether these were living people or Living Corpses.

However, Chen Nian didn't hesitate in the slightest.

Every move he made was clean and efficient, carrying a machine-like precision.

He didn't even spare those innocent faces a second glance; with a casual wave of his hand, heads exploded one after another, and foul blood splattered everywhere.

An Evil Cultivator's lips began to tremble, his teeth chattering with a faint clicking sound. "Wasn't it said that he's a newcomer to the Spiritual Energy Bureau? Why can he strike so nonchalantly even after seeing these faces?"

Another person's voice was shrill, carrying an uncontrollable tremor. "The expression on his face hasn't changed at all. Does he have no psychological burden whatsoever?"

Everyone was shocked.

This was not at all the greenhorn newcomer from their intelligence.

This was clearly a monster that had crawled out from the deepest depths of Hell.

On that young man's face, there was no pity, no struggle, not even the slightest ripple of emotion.

There was only a bone-chilling indifference.

"This lunatic..."

"He's a complete lunatic with no humanity at all!"

"He must do this kind of thing often and has grown accustomed to it. When did the Spiritual Energy Bureau recruit such a devil?"

Fear spread silently through the crowd like ink dropped into clear water, quickly blackening everyone's hearts.

Just then, the slaughter on the battlefield ceased.

Chen Nian stood in the middle of a mess of corpses and slowly raised his head.

His gaze pierced through layers of distorted space, landing precisely on the spot where they were hiding.

The Evil Cultivators were instantly terrified.

He noticed them!

Chen Nian began to approach their direction.

One step, then another.

The sound of footsteps echoed in the deathly silent space, neither fast nor slow, yet it made everyone feel an instinctive shudder.

The Evil Cultivators fell into extreme panic once again.

With faces full of terror, they watched that steadily approaching black figure as if looking at a Hell Asura walking out from a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.

"We're doomed, he noticed us!"

"He's starting to come over; he's really coming over!"

One Evil Cultivator's legs gave way, and he collapsed directly to the ground.

"How much longer for the Myriad Soul Blood Fiend?"

"Why isn't it ready after so long?"

Desperate roars rang out among the crowd, and everyone's eyes turned toward the deepest part of the space.

There, several Evil Cultivators were standing in front of a massive energy mass.

The energy mass was irregularly spherical and pitch black all over, with dark red blood-light flowing over its surface, emitting a terrifying and majestic ghostly energy.

Inside the sphere, countless painfully distorted human faces could be seen struggling and colliding.

Thousands of vengeful souls were imprisoned within, their extremely shrill wails converging into a mental shockwave that constantly tore at the sanity of those nearby.

The Evil Cultivator in charge of the ritual was pale, sweat soaking his robes. He stared fixedly at the energy mass and reported hoarsely.

"Soon!"

"It will be completed immediately!"

However, this news brought no comfort to anyone.

Immediately?

That devil is also about to arrive!

"Damn the internet!"

An Evil Cultivator suddenly cursed in grief and indignation, his voice filled with resentment and malice.

"Our Corpse Ghost Cult has been entrenched here for so many years, and no one ever noticed our movements!"

"But now, our plans have actually been ruined by some bullshit Exploration Challenge!"

"A bunch of foolish young people ran over here to die and fucking attracted the attention of the Spiritual Energy Bureau!"

His words instantly ignited everyone's anger and sense of grievance.

Indeed.

They were originally just a little bit away.

Just a tiny bit more, and they would have been able to refine the "Myriad Soul Blood Fiend."

At that time, the power of the Corpse Ghost Cult would have achieved a qualitative leap, and they would have held a greater say in the entire Underworld.

Now, it was all ruined!

First, they attracted some small fry from the Spiritual Energy Bureau, and then such a fierce Special Agent suddenly appeared.

What's the point of nurturing the Blood Fiend now!

"Run, quickly!"

Someone shouted first, though it was unclear who.

"Forget the refining; our lives are more important!"

"We can't fight such a devil, but can't we at least outrun him?"

For a moment, everyone present agreed.

The instinct for survival overrode everything.

They made a move to flee in all directions, scattering like startled birds and beasts.

"Everyone, stop right there!"

The leading Evil Cultivator shouted sternly, attempting to stop the crumbling crowd.

However, in the face of the threat of death, his authority seemed so pale and weak.

No one paid him any attention at all.

Amidst the chaos, a calm voice with a hint of amusement abruptly rang in everyone's ears.

"Outrun me?"

"Why don't you give it a try then?"

All the Evil Cultivators' movements suddenly froze.

They were struck with terror.

They looked toward the direction of the voice, their necks just beginning to turn.

However, before they could turn around and see who it was.

"Puchi—!"

A sudden change occurred.

The bodies of those Evil Cultivators who were just about to flee in all directions split open without warning.

Several blood-colored threads, nearly invisible to the naked eye, flashed through the air.

It was the Heart-Devouring Demon Silk!

Their faces were still frozen with the terror and panic they felt before turning around.

In the next second, their bodies shattered into countless pieces of flesh.

Blood and internal organs exploded, splattering everywhere and turning the entire space into a living Hell on earth.

They were as dead as they could possibly be.
