195: More demons, more points!

Before long, the Demonic Evils at the scene had been completely wiped out by Chen Nian.

The Gu Yin Mountain Pass fell into a deathly silence.

On the ground, apart from the charred craters, no trace of the Demonic Evils' existence could be seen.

It was as if the world-destroying tide of Demonic Evils from just a moment ago had been nothing more than a collective hallucination.

Chen Nian slowly descended from the sky.

His feet landed gently on the charred earth without making the slightest sound.

His expression was calm, as if the earth-shattering slaughter he had just performed was merely brushing dust off his sleeve.

It wasn't until he landed that the invisible, suffocating pressure slightly receded.

Only then did the Special Agents of Shanyin City snap back to their senses, as if waking from a great dream.

The captain leading them was the first to react.

Forcing down the stormy waves of shock in his heart, he scrambled over to Chen Nian.

Behind him, several vice-captains and core members hurriedly followed.

Every face was filled with the relief of surviving a disaster and excitement that could not be concealed.

“Special... Special Commissioner Chen!”

The captain came to a sudden halt several meters in front of Chen Nian.

He straightened his body and gave a perfectly standard military salute.

“Thank you a thousand times!”

“Thank you for your timely intervention!”

“If it weren't for you, our entire defensive line would likely have been completely wiped out!”

The people behind him also saluted in unison, their eyes looking at Chen Nian with fanaticism, their voices noisy with excitement:

“Thank you, Special Commissioner Chen!”

“We are so grateful to you!”

“You are our lifesaver!”

Chen Nian waved his hand casually, cutting off these meaningless thanks.

His gaze swept across the messy battlefield before finally landing on the captain, asking straightforwardly:

“What is the situation here?”

“Was the ‘Night Parade of a Hundred Demons’ in previous years also on this scale? This violent?”

Upon hearing this, the excitement on the captain's face was instantly replaced by gravity and confusion.

He quickly shook his head, his tone full of bewilderment and lingering fear:

“Reporting to Special Commissioner Chen, absolutely not!”

“In previous years, while the number of Demonic Evils during the ‘Night Parade of a Hundred Demons’ was not small, most were just low-level Wandering Souls and Essence Spirits.”

“They were more like they were gathering according to some instinct; their auras were chaotic but their aggressiveness was weak, and they almost never actively attacked the defensive line.”

“The main purpose of our deployment was to prevent them from accidentally entering the city and disturbing the citizens; maintaining order was enough.”

“But like today...”

He pointed to the charred earth around them, his voice trembling slightly:

“The scale is so massive, the Demonic Evils are so violent, and there were even multiple powerful Rank Five Demonic Evils leading the charge...”

“This is simply unheard of! Unprecedented!”

“This completely defies common sense! It's too strange!”

Another vice-captain also chimed in, his face full of shock and suspicion:

“That's right, Special Commissioner Chen!”

“And look, the state of these Demonic Evils just now was clearly wrong!”

“Every single one of them was like they were insane, charging the defensive line with total disregard for their own lives.”

“This is not their usual behavior pattern at all!”

“There must be something fishy going on!”

The captain nodded heavily, his tone becoming increasingly somber:

“Yes! We suspect that behind this ‘Night Parade of a Hundred Demons,’ there might be some unforeseen change we are unaware of...”

However, before he could finish his sentence—

“BOOM—!!!”

A dull explosion suddenly echoed from far away to the northeast!

This was followed by more dense sounds of energy collisions and explosions.

And faintly audible cries filled with terror rang out one after another!

“Not good!” The captain's face changed drastically. “It's from the direction of Black Wind Pass! Something has happened there too!”

Almost at the same time his voice fell—

“Beep beep beep! Beep beep beep!”

The emergency communicator at his waist emitted a piercing buzz!

The captain grabbed the communicator, and a voice filled with extreme anxiety and even a hint of sobbing immediately roared out from within:

“Requesting backup! Requesting backup! Black Wind Pass requests emergency support! Emergency support!”

“A large-scale Demonic Evil riot has occurred here! There are too many of them! We can't stop them at all!”

“The defensive line is about to be broken! Our members have suffered heavy casualties! We can't hold on! Quick... Ah!!!”

The voice from the communicator turned into a shrill scream and the sound of even more chaotic explosions at the end, then stopped abruptly, leaving only a piercing busy tone.

The scene instantly fell into a dead silence, and everyone's hearts sank to the bottom.

Black Wind Pass was another important defensive line set up by Shanyin City.

As it turned out, something had happened over there as well!

“What on earth is going on?! Why has this year's ‘Night Parade of a Hundred Demons’ turned out like this?!”

“What happened to these Demonic Evils?! Have they gone mad?!”

Panic spread among the surviving team members like a plague.

One piece of bad news after another, along with this bizarre turn of events that completely exceeded their understanding.

It caused everyone's nerves to be strained to the limit.

However, in stark contrast to their shock, fear, and panic—

As Chen Nian listened to the distant explosions and felt the increasingly chaotic and violent energy fluctuations in the air.

The corners of his mouth instead slowly curled into an irrepressible, interest-filled arc.

More Demonic Evils.

More points.

This was simply a feast delivered to his doorstep!

He wasn't the least bit dissatisfied; on the contrary, he was very pleased!

“Heh!”

Chen Nian let out a soft laugh, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

He looked at the energy-ravaged sky to the southeast, a light of excitement like a hunter's flashing in his eyes.

“Interesting.”

“It seems today's show has only just begun.”

He didn't pay any attention to the panicked Spiritual Energy Bureau members behind him.

He just casually gave an instruction to the captain who was still in a daze:

“You guys take care of the aftermath, clear the battlefield, and treat the wounded.”

“I'm going to take a look elsewhere.”

Before his voice had even faded—

“Boom!”

Blood-colored light instantly enveloped him!

Blood Fiend Incarnation, activate!

In the next moment, Chen Nian transformed into a streak of blood-red light that tore through the sky.

At a speed exceeding sound, he boldly sped toward the southeast—Black Wind Pass—where the sound of explosions was coming from!

Leaving behind a group of dumbfounded Shanyin City Special Agents who hadn't fully reacted to the series of events.

They stared in the direction Chen Nian had disappeared, then looked at the charred earth that had been instantly purified before them.

An indescribably complex emotion churned in their hearts.

“Quick! Stop dazing off!”

The captain was the first to force himself to calm down, roaring with a hoarse voice:

“Execute Special Commissioner Chen's orders! Immediately rescue the wounded! Reinforce the defensive line! Request support from headquarters!”

Under his repeated urging, everyone finally snapped out of it.

They moved into action in a flurry, yet with a strange sense of peace of mind.

Although the turn of events was bizarre and danger lurked everywhere.

As long as that Special Commissioner Chen was there, it was as if they had a pillar of support.
