248: New spark
The ultimate implosion of the magic bottle was not a deafening roar of destruction, but a whisper of creation.
The singularity, which had converged all the weight and choices of civilization, dismantled the main body of the magic bottle in a brilliant light of self-sacrifice, breaking it into countless fundamental particles imbued with faint radiance and carrying the data of civilization and the blessings of pure consciousness.
These particles, like dust scattered by an invisible giant hand and shimmering with sparks, or like spirits breaking free from all shackles and rushing toward freedom, shot out in a way that transcended physical laws and dimensional boundaries, heading toward the Chaos sea in all directions—toward those newborn Universes that were violently boiling and gestating infinite possibilities!
They were no longer the magic bottle that devoured all things, but seeds carrying the heritage of civilization, drift bottles cast into an unknown future.
One of the particles, compared to its companions, seemed to have a more restrained radiance, yet it was faintly entwined with more ineffable threads of Karma.
It traveled through the endless void, as if it had a clear destination of its own, skillfully avoiding the dead wrecks of Universes and bypassing the cores of energy storms, flying straight toward a newborn Star Domain that had just experienced the Big Bang and was in a period of extreme activity and creation.
This Star Domain was young and vibrant; primitive nebulae were like magnificent ink wash paintings, and countless stars slowly condensed under the influence of gravity, spewing out blazing flames and matter.
Planetary Systems were forming; some were still molten purgatories, while others had just cooled, revealing their initial landscapes.
The particle swept past a magnificent nebula, its radiance seeming to resonate briefly with the colors of the nebula.
It continued forward and was eventually captured by the gravitational field of a young star, guided as if by a gentle hand, falling toward the third rocky planet in the star System, which was gradually cooling and appeared a pale blue.
This planet was still very young, with violent crustal movements and frequent volcanic eruptions; the atmosphere was filled with carbon dioxide and nitrogen, and oceans had just formed, covering most of the surface, presenting a murky state of primordial soup that was gestating the first chemical reactions.
The particle penetrated the thin and primitive atmosphere, emitting a faint glow from friction, but it did not burn up completely.
It streaked across the sky like a gentle raindrop, finally landing on a beach that had just solidified and was covered with black volcanic rock.
Here, waves crashed against rugged reefs, and the air was filled with the scent of sulfur and water vapor.
In the distance, volcanoes spewed thick smoke, and the horizon was a strange and magnificent twilight scene interwoven with dim yellow and dark red.
Time began its slow and steady passage on this planet.
Tens of millions of years passed in the blink of an eye.
The planet's geological activity gradually subsided, the atmosphere became thin and clear, and the oceans turned from murky to azure.
The first amino acids, under the influence of lightning and cosmic rays, accidentally combined in the warm shallow seas to form the most primitive life form—self-replicating organic molecules.
The long epic of life's evolution began here.
From single-celled to multi-celled, from ocean to land, the forms of life became increasingly complex.
Ferns formed the first forests, and arthropods crawled on the damp soil...
Eventually, in a transition zone between a lush savanna and a forest, a branch of primates, relying on developed brains and dexterous hands, gradually embarked on an evolutionary path distinct from other species.
They learned to use tools more effectively, formed preliminary social structures, and possessed more complex ways of communication.
On this day, the sky was high and the clouds were light.
A primitive ape-man, covered in coarse fur with a prominent brow ridge and a sturdy jaw, but with eyes already shimmering with a light of curiosity and exploration far exceeding its peers, was searching along the edge of the beach for shellfish washed up by the tide.
Its palms were already quite flexible, and it could skillfully use sharp-edged stones to crack open shells.
Suddenly, its gaze was drawn to a faint, crystalline reflection not far ahead, hidden in a crevice of black volcanic rock, which was starkly different from the surrounding gray-black rocks.
What was that?
It looked around vigilantly, and after confirming there were no dangerous predators, it cautiously approached, hunching its body.
It squatted down, its rough fingers brushing away the gravel and seaweed around the crevice, revealing the full appearance of the object.
It was an irregular polyhedral fragment only the size of its fingernail.
It was a deep, dark green color, as if starlight were flowing inside it; the material was neither stone nor bone, and it felt cold and smooth to the touch, even with a hint of strange warmth.
The ape-man curiously picked up the fragment and examined it carefully in its palm.
Sunlight shone on the fragment, refracting extremely complex and subtle, seemingly naturally formed patterns inside; after looking at those patterns for a long time, it actually felt a bit dizzy, yet it was inexplicably deeply attracted to it.
It had never seen such a beautiful and peculiar thing.
This was by no means an ordinary creation of nature.
It scratched at it with its fingernail, but the fragment did not budge; it was exceptionally hard.
It then held the fragment up to its nose and sniffed it; there was no scent at all.
A strong sense of possessiveness and curiosity, stemming from the depths of its instincts, seized it.
It felt that this must be some kind of "treasure," a gift bestowed by the gods or ancestors.
It cautiously clutched the dark green fragment tightly in its palm, and the cold, smooth sensation made it feel very comfortable.
The moment its fingers completely wrapped around the fragment—
Hum!
A stream of extremely faint but incredibly clear, cool Qi suddenly surged from the fragment, traveled along the meridians of its arm, and instantly rushed into its brain!
The ape-man shuddered violently, its fur standing slightly on end!
It did not feel pain; instead, it felt as if its brain had been washed by a clear spring, becoming unprecedentedly clear and sharp!
The world before its eyes seemed to become clearer, the colors more vivid, and the sound of distant waves, the swaying of plants in the wind, and even the calls of its companions in the distance could all be heard more clearly.
Many thoughts that had previously been vague and incomprehensible now suddenly became clear!
How to use stones with less effort?
How to judge which fruits were non-toxic?
How to better cooperate with companions in hunting?
Some simple yet transcending its current level of cognition, fragments of information and logical connections, like activated codes, silently merged into its thinking!
It stood blankly in place, blinked its eyes, looked down at its clenched fist, and felt that strange sense of clarity in its mind.
Then, as it raised its head again and looked at the world—
Deep in its eyes, which had originally been filled only with the desire to survive and simple curiosity, a flash of something completely different—an extremely faint but real spark of wisdom—suddenly flickered!
It seemed... to understand something?
And it also seemed... to want to understand more?
It was no longer satisfied with just looking for shellfish.
It began to observe the shape of a stone more carefully, trying to strike it from different angles;
It looked toward the distant forest, its eyes no longer merely searching for food, but carrying a certain sense of planning and contemplation;
It even looked at its companions and uttered a few more complex syllables that had slightly different meanings from the past...
The seeds of civilization had, at this moment, been quietly sown in this primordial fertile soil, by way of this fragment that had spanned endless space-time and Reincarnation.
The ape-man clutched the fragment tightly, as if it had grasped the key to destiny, and walked toward its tribe, its steps seeming to become firmer.
The setting sun cast its shadow long.
A brand new story was about to begin.
Would it be better this time?
No one knew.
But hope had already sprouted.
