72: A broken air conditioner, a door that must be locked
Almost at the same time, Chen Yun sat up as well.
The two exchanged a glance, both seeing the same heavy dark circles under each other's eyes and a hint of indescribable exhaustion. And, hidden beneath that exhaustion, an unextinguished, surging undercurrent of fire.
In Dorm Room 301 this early morning, the atmosphere was even more eerie than the night before.
The dry heat inside Wang Fugui's body hadn't dissipated after a night of torment; instead, it had settled in like a maggot in his bones. As soon as sweat surfaced on his skin, it was evaporated into wisps of white steam by his scalding body temperature, carrying a thick, inseparable male scent that completely turned the entire room into a sealed hormone gas chamber.
Lin Xiaocao was brushing her teeth with a toothbrush in her mouth. Just as her mouth filled with foam, she suddenly felt her legs go weak and nearly knelt on the floor. That domineering scent was eroding her sanity through every pore.
On the other side, Chen Yun, who was applying vanishing cream to her neck, also paused. She could clearly feel a fine layer of goosebumps rising on her skin, and a familiar dry heat surged from her lower abdomen, making her cheeks flush crimson.
Wang Fugui stood up unsteadily, feeling a soreness deep within his bones. He took off his sweat-soaked undershirt, revealing his bronze, lean muscles, and wrung it out; sweat poured down with a splash.
"Brother Fugui, you... why are you so hot!"
Lin Xiaocao called out unclearly with foam in her mouth. She couldn't bear to watch any longer, so she wetted a towel with cold water and rushed over, wanting to press it against Wang Fugui's forehead.
But as soon as her fingertips touched Wang Fugui's skin, she recoiled as if struck by an electric shock; the scalding temperature almost burned her.
"Hiss—"
She gasped.
Leaning against the doorframe watching the show, Chen Yun slowly finished applying the last bit of vanishing cream, lightly parted her red lips, and exhaled a breath of fragrant air.
"Little sister, some fires can't be wiped away with a towel."
Her voice carried a hint of lazy hoarseness, every word like a hook scratching at one's heart.
Once they reached the workshop, the oppressive atmosphere was finally diluted a bit by the roar of the machinery. Wang Fugui dove into the warehouse, desperately moving goods, trying to use extreme physical exertion to suppress the rampaging beast inside his body.
He had to calm down; he didn't want any more mishaps, especially under the watchful eyes of that fox spirit and Lin Xiaocao.
Just then, a cold and sharp voice cut through the noise of the workshop.
"Deputy Supervisor Wang!"
Chen Yun stood at the door of her private office holding a report, her face as cold as water.
"There's a serious error in the data of this quality inspection report. Come to my office immediately!"
In front of all the workers, her voice wasn't loud, yet it carried an indisputable authority.
All the workers in the workshop stopped what they were doing, and countless gazes shot over in unison, filled with a complex mix of ambiguity, jealousy, and anticipation of a good show.
Wang Fugui's heart skipped a beat. An error in the report? He had clearly checked it several times yesterday.
On the assembly line, Lin Xiaocao's heart also sank. She stared fixedly at Chen Yun's iceberg-like face and Wang Fugui's honest yet somewhat helpless back, a nameless fire rushing to her head.
She stomped her foot hard, and the ballpoint pen in her hand made a crisp snapping sound under her unconscious, immense strength; it was actually bent out of shape.
But it was working hours now, and she couldn't do anything. She could only watch helplessly as Wang Fugui walked toward the office that made her teeth itch with hatred.
Wang Fugui had just stepped inside.
Click.
Chen Yun closed the door behind her with a backhand; the crisp sound of the latch was like an iron lock, sealing off all his retreats.
Chen Yun quickly walked to the window and, with a rustle, closed the blinds completely.
The light in the office instantly dimmed, cutting off all prying eyes from the outside.
The resolute, frost-cold quality inspection supervisor from a moment ago had vanished. In her place was a woman with rapid breathing, radiating a dangerous aura. In her originally cold phoenix eyes, two flickers of dark fire now burned, filled with unmasked aggression.
Wang Fugui was bewildered by this sudden change. Holding the report, he asked honestly.
"Supervisor Chen, where... where is the mistake? I'll fix it right away."
Chen Yun didn't look at the report at all. She raised her hand and unbuttoned the top two buttons of her shirt, revealing a dazzling patch of snowy white. She extended the tip of her tongue, lightly licking her somewhat dry lips, and pointed to the brand-new floor-standing air conditioner in the corner.
"The air conditioner is broken."
Her voice was a bit airy.
"It's too hot in here. Help me... fix it."
Wang Fugui looked in the direction she pointed. The air conditioner was clearly plugged in, and the indicator lights were on. Where was it broken?
Just as he was about to step forward for a closer look, a fragrant breeze hit him. Chen Yun gave a sudden shove, sending him stumbling back until he slumped heavily into her large, soft executive chair.
Before he could react, Chen Yun leaned over him, her hands propped on the armrests, trapping him firmly between herself and the chair.
"It's not the air conditioner that's hot."
She leaned down, her warm breath brushing against Wang Fugui's ear, sending a shiver through him.
"It's that your body is too hot, making this whole room stifling. I have to... cool you down first."
Before she finished speaking, Chen Yun slowly crouched down. Using the large desk as cover, she slid into the dark shadows beneath it.
"What are you doing!"
Wang Fugui was shocked, the hair on his body standing on end. He tried to spring up from the chair.
A pair of soft yet powerful hands pressed down hard on his thighs, leaving him unable to move.
From under the desk came Chen Yun's suppressed and urgent whisper, carrying a hint of irresistible threat.
"Don't move! There are people everywhere outside. Do you want them all to hear?"
Boom!
Wang Fugui's head exploded.
His vision was completely blocked by the heavy desk, but his other senses were magnified countless times in that moment.
His hands gripped the solid wood armrests of the chair tightly, veins bulging on his arms, almost crushing the wood.
Just at the moment his sanity was about to be completely incinerated!
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The office door was knocked on forcefully from the outside.
group leader Liu Big Head's signature loud voice drifted in without any reservation.
"Supervisor Chen! Are you in there? There's a problem with a batch of goods that just arrived at the warehouse! It needs to be handled urgently!"
There was a sudden pause under the desk.
Wang Fugui was just about to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking this crazy game was finally over.
However, in the next second, instead of stopping, the activity under the desk took on a hint of annoyance at being discovered and a retaliatory madness.
The last string of sanity in Wang Fugui's mind snapped.
