77: fishing

Some people nearby who hadn't had time to leave subconsciously stopped when they saw the commotion, watching from a distance as if waiting for a good show.

In the Black Market, this kind of thing is not uncommon.

It's completely normal to be targeted if you lack strength and carry good items.

Do you really think this is a legitimate market?

The Enforcement Team naturally exists, but... heh, they are just birds of a feather.

"Friend, I advise you not to refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit."

The leading man's voice turned cold: "Here, the arm cannot twist the thigh."

The onlookers subconsciously retreated a few more steps, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.

Bai Ye looked at the man who was half a head taller than him, considering whether to kill these people directly or use this opportunity to find the mastermind.

"Stop!"

A powerful reprimand exploded next to Bai Ye's ear.

A man wearing a black uniform and a Bull Head Mask quickly approached with a team.

"Fighting is prohibited in Central Plaza. Any grudges should be settled in the Gladiator Arena."

The man with the Bull Head Mask had a loud voice, carrying an air of authority.

The man wearing the ghost face mask chuckled when he saw the Enforcement Team arrive.

He bowed slightly toward the man with the Bull Head Mask.

"Captain Niu, it's just a misunderstanding. We just wanted to invite this friend for a cup of tea and a chat."

Minotaur Captain snorted coldly: "I think you want to take him to some deserted corner and drink his blood!"

He clearly knew all about the tricks these people used.

How could he let them steal all the credit? To become the Captain of the Enforcement Team, one definitely needed some skills.

"We wouldn't dare, wouldn't dare."

The man with the ghost face mask quickly said.

Minotaur Captain ignored him, turning to look at Bai Ye, his tone softening slightly:

"If they threaten you, you can tell me directly. The Black Market has its rules, and our Enforcement Team absolutely forbids anyone from acting recklessly here."

The surrounding onlookers were somewhat surprised, not expecting the Enforcement Team to be so impartial this time.

Usually, they mostly turn a blind eye to this kind of thing, and if the profit is large enough, two groups might even collude.

Bai Ye looked at Minotaur Captain in front of him, his mind as clear as a mirror.

He knew the other party wasn't helping him.

They were putting on a show, but for whom?

Naturally, it was for everyone in the Black Market.

The purpose of this act was to "legitimately" take him away.

If he sought the protection of the Enforcement Team now, he would subsequently be taken away by the Enforcement Team under the pretext of "protecting the party concerned."

This would also make a small group of people trust the Black Market even more.

Once he truly entered the Enforcement Team's territory, he would be completely helpless.

They really had a good scheme planned out.

"I'm fine."

Bai Ye shook his head, then turned and smiled at the man with the ghost face mask, although

"Since you gentlemen are so sincerely inviting me for tea, it would be rude of me to refuse."

"What?"

Minotaur Captain and the man with the ghost face mask never expected Bai Ye to agree voluntarily.

Could this kid really think he could defeat a Transcendent Limit Demonic Beast without the assistance of a beast pet?

No way? Seriously?

It seems the Champion's Halo has made him lose touch with reality.

"Haha, friend, you truly are a straightforward person!"

The man with the ghost face mask reacted and immediately burst into laughter.

"Minotaur Captain, as you can see, this friend is voluntarily coming with us."

Minotaur Captain gave Bai Ye a deep look, seemingly trying to discern something from his face.

He really detested the Black Market's rule requiring masks; at least leave half the face visible.

"Since it's voluntary, our Enforcement Team naturally won't interfere."

After speaking, he clearly clicked his tongue and led the Enforcement Team away.

The incident seemed to have ended anticlimactically.

The surrounding onlookers also found it boring and dispersed.

The vast Central Plaza was soon left only with Bai Ye and the men wearing ghost face masks.

"Friend, please."

The leading man made a "please" gesture, but the smugness in his voice couldn't be concealed.

As if he was about to get promoted and strike it rich.

Bai Ye smiled, said nothing, stepped forward, and followed them toward a dark alley outside the plaza.

Perhaps, today he could wipe out a small portion of the Black Market's streets.

The alley was dark and damp, the walls covered in moss, and the air filled with the foul stench of sewage.

Bai Ye followed behind the men with ghost face masks, winding through turns and heading into increasingly remote areas.

There were no shops or pedestrians visible nearby, only the footsteps of their group echoing clearly in the empty alley.

"This Teahouse is certainly located in a remote spot."

Bai Ye was the first to break the silence. Since gaining Photosynthesis, he hadn't been fond of gloomy environments.

If his solar energy dropped to 98% and couldn't be replenished, he would feel very uncomfortable.

The burly man walking at the front paused, looked back at him, and sneered.

"Good tea is naturally hidden deep in the alleys; ordinary people can't drink it."

"Then I must have a good taste today."

Bai Ye shrugged, looking completely unconcerned.

Because he was too calm, the men with ghost face masks started feeling uneasy.

"Big Brother, something's off about this kid."

A younger Subordinate following behind leaned closer to the burly man.

"Since just now, he hasn't shown any fear at all. Could he have someone backing him?"

"What is there to fear!"

The burly man glared at him.

"Who cares if he's a scion of some great Family? Once he enters our territory, a Dragon must coil, and a Tiger must crouch. Besides, when has the Manager ever failed to catch the prey he set his eyes on?"

"That's true."

The Subordinate nodded and said nothing more.

Their conversation was very quiet, but Bai Ye heard it clearly.

They are indeed Small Fry, and the Manager above them is probably not the main culprit either.

If it's someone even higher... what would a person of that status want with him?

After walking for about ten minutes, they stopped in front of an unremarkable iron door. The burly man stepped forward and knocked rhythmically.

With a creak, the iron door was pulled open from the inside, and a man also wearing a ghost face mask poked his head out.

"Did you bring the person?"

"We brought him." The burly man nodded.

"Come in."

Bai Ye followed them through the iron door.

Behind the door was a spacious basement, decently decorated with a carpet on the floor and several incomprehensible abstract paintings hanging on the walls.

Over a dozen men wearing ghost face masks were scattered in various corners of the basement, holding weapons and glaring at him menacingly.

In the deepest part of the basement sat a man who wasn't wearing a mask.

The man looked to be in his thirties, with short red hair and a savage scar running from his brow bone down to the corner of his mouth.

His entire demeanor was filled with hostility.

He was also embracing two scantily clad women.

On the floor lay a massive Three-Headed Hell Hound, occasionally dripping corrosive saliva from its mouth.

Seriously, don't you guys mind the smell?
