59: Chapter 59 The Ownership Crisis of Wang Defu Toll Station
At the northeast corner of the Fanxing Technology Park, the newly established logistics dispatch and training center was a scene of bustling activity, filled with the roar of machinery and the clamor of voices.
Twenty second-hand heavy trucks deeply Amplified by Chen Fan lay quietly in brand-new parking spaces. Their paintwork was mottled, bearing the marks of journeys across the land, yet under the sunlight, their rugged lines resembled a pack of dormant steel beasts, ready to roar forth at a single command.
The drivers, all seasoned veterans meticulously selected by Lin Hao and paid 1.5 times the market rate, were gathered around the vehicles, their eyes wide as they listened to Lin Hao explain the incredible features of these "new partners."
"Old Wang, try pressing this button!" Lin Hao pointed to a hidden compartment on the side of the dashboard, his voice booming.
"A short press sends an alert signal to the command center and nearby brother trucks; hold it for three seconds, and it directly triggers the highest-level distress call, transmitting precise coordinates and a real-time video feed back in an instant!"
Old Wang swallowed hard and pressed the button cautiously.
Whoosh!
The truck's central control screen instantly popped up a notification confirming the successful transmission of the encrypted signal. In his earpiece, the unmodulated electronic voice of Xiao Zhi immediately sounded: "Signal received. Vehicle 12, status: yellow alert."
"Holy shit!" Old Wang's eyes lit up, and he slapped the steering wheel. "This thing is ten thousand times better than a walkie-talkie! What other tricks does it have? Tell me quickly!"
"All critical parts of the vehicle are reinforced, completely ignoring ordinary collisions and minor rollovers!" Lin Hao patted the thick door, his tone confident. "The tires are specially made; unless blown apart by artillery, they can still run for dozens of kilometers even if punctured by a nail! There's also a hidden emergency kit in the cabin—medical supplies, high-energy food, drinking water, even self-defense tools and signal transmitters. Remember: this truck is your life-saving fortress!"
Elsewhere, Chen Fan had just emerged from the core Amplification workshop, his face showing signs of fatigue.
Inside the space jade pendant lay more than 30 sets of core components for the standard stardust material production units.
The manufacturing task of a thousand devices was progressing at a remarkably fast and visibly efficient pace.
"Fan Zi, have some water!" Lin Hao handed over a bottle of mineral water, frowning as he saw Chen Fan's pale complexion. "You've been doing high-intensity Amplification for days on end; even an iron body can't handle this! Can't you take a break for a couple of days and finish the rest later?"
Chen Fan unscrewed the cap and gulped down most of the bottle. The cold water flowing down his throat dispelled some of his weariness.

He wiped his mouth, his gaze sharp. "A break? Will that pack of jackals from the Long family give us time to rest?"
"Engineer Fu's new generation of aerospace thermal insulation tiles are about to undergo prototype testing; the mass production of Xuan Niao Material must keep up! The Spark Alliance can establish a production capacity defense line one day earlier if they get the equipment sooner!"
Chen Fan looked at the excited drivers, his tone resolute. "Once this batch of people finishes training, the first shipment of equipment and raw materials will be dispatched immediately! This industrial chain must start turning now, the sooner the better!"
Knowing Chen Fan's temperament was futile to argue with, Lin Hao could only sigh. "Alright, you're the boss! But you have to get some rest! By the way, Uncle Wang has been crazy busy lately, handling several new recycling station connections. I've noticed he's lost weight!"
Chen Fan's brow instantly furrowed tightly.
The raw material network was the lifeline of Fanxing Technology; not a single mishap could be allowed!
"I Amplified a Stab-proof Vest. Deliver it to Uncle Wang right now!" Chen Fan said gravely. "He must wear it every day! This is a critical period; caution is the parent of safety!"
"Understood! I'll go this afternoon!" Lin Hao responded crisply.
Chen Fan was fully immersed in Fanxing's projects, eating and sleeping at the factory, not returning to his residence for several days. Updates on Wang Defu's work progress relied solely on phone calls.
Early one morning, just as Wang Defu picked up his bowl, before a single mouthful of porridge could reach his lips, he heard a sharp, piercing roar from outside, grating like a broken gong:
"Wang Defu! Get the hell out here!"
Wang Defu's heart sank.
That voice... sounded somewhat familiar, yet carried an indescribable strangeness.
He put down his bowl and chopsticks, quickly walking out of the recycling station's main gate. At a glance, he saw a gleaming black sedan parked at the entrance, starkly out of place amidst the piles of scrap surrounding it.
Three men stood by the car.
Leading them was a gaunt man in his fifties, wearing an ill-fitting suit, his hair slicked back with oil. His beady, triangular eyes darted around, exuding a sly, rascally air. Beside him was a bespectacled man clutching a briefcase, his face stiff as a brick. At the back stood a burly man in a black suit, broad-shouldered and thick-waisted, expressionless like a door god.
When Wang Defu clearly saw the gaunt man's face, his pupils contracted sharply!
Wang Deshun!
His own younger brother, who had disappeared for over a decade!
"De... Deshun?" Wang Defu's voice trembled. The man before him faintly resembled his younger self, but that slickness and resentment had long since eroded the brash youth of the past beyond recognition.
"Oh! So you still recognize me, huh? My dear big brother!" Wang Deshun sneered, rubbing his hands together, his triangular eyes greedily sweeping over the neatly expanded recycling station. "Not bad! Found yourself a sugar daddy? Fixed up this dump to look all respectable, made a fortune?"
A strong sense of foreboding rose in Wang Defu's heart. He said sternly, "Where have you been all these years? What are you doing back now?"
"What am I doing?" Wang Deshun acted as if he'd heard the biggest joke, suddenly raising his voice, spittle spraying onto Wang Defu's face. "Where have I been? I nearly died out there! If you hadn't left me to die back then, would I have been forced to flee by debt collectors?!"
"Over ten years! I lived a dog's life out there! And you? You've got it good! Occupying the house our parents left, living the high life here!"
"That's nonsense!" Wang Defu trembled with anger, pointing at Wang Deshun's nose and roaring, "You gambled away all the family assets our parents left back then! I built this recycling station bit by bit! If the land deed hadn't been messy back then, this house would have been squandered by you long ago!"
"Cut the crap!" Wang Deshun waved his hand dismissively, pointing to the bespectacled man beside him. "This is Lawyer Zhang! He's checked everything clearly! Our parents left no will; I have a half share in this land and everything on it! You've hogged it all for over a decade. Now, cough it up with interest!"
Lawyer Zhang adjusted his glasses, stepping forward, his tone as stiff as if reciting legal code: "Mr. Wang Defu, according to the documents we have retrieved, you and Mr. Wang Deshun have a legal joint inheritance relationship regarding this plot of land in the western suburbs and its attachments. My client demands confirmation of property rights shares and reasonable compensation for your occupation over the past decade. We hope to engage in formal negotiations with the Panshi Foundation behind you."
Buzz!
Wang Defu's head felt as if struck by a heavy hammer, instantly going blank!
He finally understood!
This was no family reunion!
This was a premeditated extortion scheme!
The target wasn't him, Wang Defu, at all! It was to use him to smear mud on Chen Fan! To throw Fanxing Technology into chaos!
"You... you're extorting me!" Wang Defu's lips quivered with anger. "Our parents died of grief because of you! They cut ties with you long ago!"
Wang Deshun scoffed, his greed unconcealed. "I don't give a damn about your Panshi Foundation or whatever! You're squatting on my land, so you pay up! Otherwise, we'll see you in court!"
He took two steps closer, lowering his voice. The threat in his tone was like a venomous snake's tongue, dripping with poison: "When the time comes, I'll go to the media! Let everyone see how Fanxing Technology bullies the weak and occupies the ancestral property of us common folk! Your boss Chen Fan is riding high now, right? Wonder if he can withstand this tidal wave of filth?"
Every word struck a fatal blow!
Wang Defu trembled with rage, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles cracked, his nails nearly digging into his palms!
He wasn't afraid of a lawsuit; a clear conscience fears no accusation!
But he was afraid! Afraid of causing trouble for Chen Fan, afraid of ruining Fanxing's reputation, afraid that all their hard work would be destroyed by this beast of a brother!
"What exactly do you want?" Wang Defu took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his fury, gritting his teeth as he asked.
Seeing this, Wang Deshun's face broke into a triumphant smile. He held up two fingers, wagging them. "Two choices! First, give me twenty million! A one-time payment, and I'll give up my property rights, we're square forever! Second, we drag it out slowly in court! I've got all the time in the world to play with you!"
Twenty million!
An astronomical figure!
Barefaced extortion!
Wang Defu was so angry his vision darkened. Staring fixedly at this brother who was now a stranger, he roared word by word: "Get out! Get the hell out of here!"
"I'll give you time to think it over!" Wang Deshun didn't care, patting Wang Defu's shoulder, smiling smugly. "Don't refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit!"
He shot a glance at Lawyer Zhang.
Lawyer Zhang immediately pulled a lawyer's letter from his briefcase and slapped it into Wang Defu's hand.
"I'll wait for your answer in three days!"
Wang Deshun tossed out this final threat, swaggered into the black sedan with the lawyer and bodyguard, stepped on the gas, and the exhaust pipe spewed a cloud of black smoke as they arrogantly sped away.
Wang Defu stood frozen in place, clutching the flimsy lawyer's letter in his hand, yet it felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, crushing him until he could barely breathe.
He took out his phone, his finger hovering over Chen Fan's number, trembling for a long time, but ultimately, he didn't press the call button.
Chen Fan was busy right now; he couldn't add to his troubles!
Wang Defu gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with struggle.
Perhaps... he could handle this himself?
Perhaps... he could discuss it with Lin Hao?
He looked up at the gloomy sky, thick with dark, oppressive clouds, as if a catastrophic storm was sweeping in furiously from this most unexpected corner!
