94: Chapter 94 The Dragon in the Sky Reaps What It Sows
During the few days Su Qingyue was in the Northwest, Chen Fan began preparing medical equipment. Because the meteorite strengthened his Mental Power, Chen Fan's efficiency increased dozens of times. After the mental Amplification of the equipment, he didn't feel tired at all like before.
This afternoon, Chen Fan's phone received a message from an unknown number. The content was just a set of geographic coordinates and a time—11:00 PM tonight, Warehouse 3 of the abandoned "Red Star No. 3 Textile Factory" warehouse area in the west of the city.
At the end of the message was a sentence: "Come alone. Otherwise, your little nurse training in the Northwest might encounter some trouble other than 'altitude sickness'." Attached was a blurry profile photo taken from a distance of Su Qingyue walking in the training base courtyard wearing a white coat.
Chen Fan's gaze instantly dropped to freezing point. He hadn't found time to look for Long Zaitian yet, but Long Zaitian had actually found him first.
The current Long Zaitian truly had no bottom line anymore, actually using Su Qingyue to threaten him.
He replied with two words: "Wait for me."
At 10:50 PM, Chen Fan drove alone, quietly entering the abandoned textile factory area. The power had long been cut, and the moonlight was blocked by thick clouds. Only a few scattered streetlights in the distance provided a dim yellow glow, outlining the broken factory buildings and overgrown weeds in a dead silence. The air was filled with the unpleasant smell of rust, rotting fabric, and damp dust.
He parked the car in an open space far from Warehouse 3, turned off the engine, and got out. He didn't carry any weapons, wearing only a set of dark sportswear easy to move in.
His Mental Power, like invisible tentacles, had already spread out quietly, instantly covering the entire Warehouse 3 and its surrounding area for hundreds of meters.
In his "vision," the internal structure of the warehouse was complex, with a large amount of abandoned textile machinery and shelves piled up, forming many visual blind spots. At least seven people were lurking inside, their breathing, heartbeat, and body temperature signals clearly discernible. They were scattered in key positions: two occupied high vantage points (possibly abandoned overhead crane beams) carrying long-range weapons; three were ambushing behind cover near the entrance; and two more were hidden behind a pile of large equipment in the deepest part of the warehouse. Everyone had metal reactions on them, likely carrying firearms. More insidiously, plastic explosives were installed on several main load-bearing pillars and the entrance door frame of the warehouse, with the signal source for the remote detonator... near a living being whose heartbeat was abnormally rapid and filled with resentment and tension—Long Zaitian.
Outside the warehouse, on the roofs and in the shadows of several adjacent factory buildings, four more people were lying in wait to keep watch and block any retreat.
A standard death trap. Long Zaitian intended to lure him into this sealed death coffin, then blow up the warehouse to bury him completely or shoot him dead.
With a calm expression, Chen Fan pushed open the heavy, rusted, ajar iron door of Warehouse 3.
"Creak—" The tooth-grinding friction echoed in the empty, silent warehouse, sounding particularly harsh.
The warehouse was pitch black, with only a little faint light leaking in from the high windows, barely outlining the hideous contours of the giant machinery. The air was filled with a thicker smell of dust and machine oil.
"Long Zaitian, I'm here." Chen Fan stood at the door, his voice not loud but clearly reaching every corner of the warehouse. "Come out, don't hide in the dark like a rat."
"Hahahaha..." A burst of crazed laughter came from deep within the warehouse, accompanied by stumbling footsteps. Long Zaitian walked out from behind a pile of equipment, holding a high-intensity flashlight, the piercing beam of light hitting Chen Fan directly in the face.
At this moment, Long Zaitian's eyes were sunken, his hair was messy, and his expensive suit was covered in dust. He no longer had his former air of grandeur, leaving only the madness of someone at their wit's end.
"Chen Fan! You actually dared to come! For that little nurse, you really don't even want your life?" Long Zaitian roared hoarsely, the flashlight beam shaking. "Look around you! This is your burial ground!"
As he spoke, the killers lurking in the dark appeared one after another, their muzzles pointing at Chen Fan from all directions. Red laser dots wove a deadly web in the darkness, covering Chen Fan's vital points. On the high ground, the two snipers also adjusted their positions.
"Just with these?" Chen Fan didn't even look at the muzzles, his gaze calmly locked on Long Zaitian. "Long Zaitian, you only know how to use such underhanded methods."
"Underhanded? Any method that can kill you is a good method!" Long Zaitian roared, raising his left hand to reveal a black remote control, his thumb pressed firmly on the red button. "See this? Here, and there, I've planted enough explosives to blow this damn warehouse to the sky! With just a light press from me, bang!"
A distorted expression of mixed fear, excitement, and destructive pleasure appeared on his face: "Are you afraid? Beg me! Kneel and beg me, and maybe if I'm in a good mood, I'll give you a quick end!"
Chen Fan looked at him, his eyes showing no fear, only a coldness bordering on pity: "Long Zaitian, you are truly pathetic. You think you're in control of everything? Look behind you, what's there?"
"What?" Long Zaitian subconsciously turned his head slightly, the flashlight beam instinctively swinging behind him. In that split second of distraction!
Chen Fan moved! Not towards Long Zaitian, but sliding like a ghost towards an abandoned spinning machine to his front-side! His speed was so fast it left an afterimage in the darkness!
"Fire! Kill him!" Long Zaitian snapped back to his senses and screamed shrilly.
However, under Chen Fan's mental perception and reaction speed, which had been significantly enhanced by the meteorite, all of this was too slow. He had already "seen" the positions of all the gunmen, where their muzzles were pointed, and even the muscular signs of them pulling the triggers.
"Puff, puff, puff, puff—!"
The dense gunfire instantly erupted! The silenced firearms made muffled whistles in the enclosed space, bullets pouring like water toward the position where Chen Fan had just stood and the directions he might dodge!
But Chen Fan's evasion route completely exceeded their predictions. He seemed able to foresee the trajectories, leaving the impact points before the bullets were even fired.
His figure flickered and maneuvered among the giant abandoned equipment, sometimes sliding along the ground, sometimes leaping onto the machines. His speed was so fast that the gunmen's scopes couldn't lock on, forcing them to resort to blind suppressive fire.
Bullets hit the rusted steel, splashing dense sparks and making ear-piercing impact sounds. Debris flew everywhere, but not even a corner of Chen Fan's clothes was touched.
"Useless! A bunch of useless fools! Hit him!" Long Zaitian was exasperated, hiding behind a large printing machine, poking out only half his head.
In this brief chaos, Chen Fan had already lunged into the middle of the warehouse like a cheetah. Two gunmen who rushed out from behind cover to intercept him only felt a blur before their eyes, followed by sharp pain in their wrists. Their guns fell, and then they were hit hard on the side of the neck, collapsing to the ground without even a groan.
The snipers at the high points tried to adjust their angles, but Chen Fan's figure flickered in and out of the complex terrain, making it impossible to aim. One sniper had just put his crosshairs on a suspected target when he suddenly felt a chill on the back of his neck; he had been chopped unconscious by Chen Fan, who had somehow maneuvered behind the overhead crane beam.
The battle was a one-sided crush. In the dark and complex environment, Chen Fan was like an invisible god of death, clearing obstacles with precision and efficiency.
The crisp sound of breaking bones, muffled groans as people fell, and the clatter of dropped firearms rose and fell, accompanied by Long Zaitian's increasingly desperate roars.
In less than two minutes, except for Long Zaitian and the last two personal bodyguards by his side, all the other ambushing gunmen had lost their fighting capacity, lying in the darkness moaning or unconscious.
"Block him! Block him for me!" Long Zaitian cowered behind the printing machine, screaming at the last two bodyguards. These two were clearly more elite than the previous gunmen, with fierce gazes. They pulled out military daggers and flanked Chen Fan from both sides, their movements swift and professional.
However, in Chen Fan's perception, their movements were still clearly slow. He stepped aside to avoid the dagger thrust from the left, using his right hand to seize the opponent's wrist with a twist and a shove. The bodyguard screamed as his arm dislocated, and the dagger stabbed into his own thigh. Simultaneously, Chen Fan's left leg whipped out, striking first and hitting the outer side of the right bodyguard's knee joint with a crack. The bodyguard screamed and fell.
Having dealt with the last two obstacles, Chen Fan walked step by step toward Long Zaitian, who was cowering behind the machine.
"Don't come over! Don't come over!" Long Zaitian backed against the cold steel, with nowhere to retreat. He still clutched the remote control tightly in his hand, while his other hand frantically fumbled on his person, unexpectedly pulling out a mini pistol and pointing it at Chen Fan with trembling hands. "I'll kill you!"
"Bang!" He pulled the trigger. The gunshot was exceptionally loud in the empty warehouse.
The bullet missed, hitting the concrete floor near Chen Fan's feet and splashing a few bits of stone.
Chen Fan didn't stop. He had already walked up to him, looking down from above with a gaze like he was looking at a bug struggling in its death throes.
"Long Zaitian, the game is over." Chen Fan's voice was ice-cold.
"No! It's not over yet!" The final burst of madness and despair erupted in Long Zaitian's eyes.
HePress the remote control abruptly.
Chen Fan reacted quickly, dashing toward the window and leaping out.
Boom, a loud explosion.
"No—!!!" Long Zaitian only had time to let out a short, shrill wail before being submerged in the crashing torrent of steel!
"Rumble—!!!"
The loud noise was deafening! Thick smoke and dust from the entire warehouse spread like a dense fog.
Chen Fan had already retreated to a safe distance. His Mental Power blocked most of the dust and flying debris as he coldly watched the rising smoke and ruins.
The dust slowly settled. Beneath the ruins, there was no longer any sound from Long Zaitian.
He finally died from his own crazed actions, buried by the collapse he had triggered.
