135: Join the academician research group

From the paper extracted from the System.

What Guo Hao saw was not just a simple polymer compound.

More importantly, studying this polymer compound itself using direct experimental methods is extremely difficult; simply designing the experiment itself is already quite troublesome.

Moreover, for Materials Science itself, to research materials, thousands or even tens of thousands of materials need to be combined in various ways.

Various materials can also exist in different states, and other materials at different temperatures and different temperatures may also produce some new changes; it can be said that this is an extremely complex project in itself.

Humanity's current research on these state changes is not very deep; although we know some properties of materials, when it comes to the changes between various compounds, we cannot say we are completely ignorant, but most of the time, we are completely in the dark.

Therefore, in many cases, for those working with materials, theoretical research only occupies a very small portion.

Especially in cutting-edge research institutes studying new materials.

Most of the time, those who work with materials... well, they are the lowest tier among the so-called research laborers.

They require constant experimentation.

Finding inspiration, finding direction, finding all possible materials, using all conceivable methods—high temperature, high pressure, vacuum, extreme cold, centrifuges, all kinds of methods—to make various materials react with each other.

Then, they study the various byproducts produced after these reactions...

Uh... sounds interesting, doesn't it?

But in reality, this is only possible in high-end Laboratory research institutes; lower-end research institutes don't even have sufficient conditions for research.

After all, general research institutes don't have high-end instruments like spectrometers.

But even in high-end research institutes, it's still the same, doing almost the most basic repetitive work. Of course, most experiments are like this in reality.

It's just that the number of repetitions in Materials Science is truly terrifying.

What's even more terrifying is... there's almost no end in sight.

Especially in modern times, many combinations of materials have already been done by many Laboratories; almost everything you can think of has already been done by some Laboratory.

People are forced to constantly explore microscopic materials, searching for the properties of materials at the microscopic level, which is why carbon nanomaterials have started to shine in recent years.

Microscopic material research has become very popular, but what awaits Materials Science researchers is still endless torment.

Repetition, constant repetition.

It requires countless material scientists to invest, consuming a large amount of manpower and resources, but as for the results...

It's not that there are none at all, but most cannot be industrialized and many can only exist in the Laboratory.

The Materials Science major is a genuine research laborer profession.

No matter how talented you are.

You need to repeat experiments to generate some data and then write papers.

This is an inevitable process. If you can't produce sufficiently excellent data, how can you write an excellent paper in Materials Science?

Without excellent papers, you'll be a research laborer for life.

Guo Hao certainly wouldn't choose such a dead end.

In his opinion, only Computational Materials Science could satisfy him.

"So determined?"

Academician Jiang Lei certainly didn't know what Guo Hao was thinking. Looking at Guo Hao's unwavering appearance, a look of surprise also appeared in his eyes.

Soon, a smile appeared on his face.

"Yes!"

Guo Hao nodded.

"Not bad! It's good for young people to have their own ideas, and your Mathematics foundation is very good. Your Mathematics paper has a very solid foundation, and in the field of mathematical modeling, you truly have your own ideas."

Academician Jiang Lei smiled slightly, looking at Guo Hao before him.

"Coincidentally, my research group also needs a student like you who is skilled in mathematical modeling. Would you like to join my research group?"

"What direction is Academician Jiang's current research group studying?"

Guo Hao hesitated slightly, looking at Academician Jiang Lei and asking.

"Currently, my research group is mainly studying the environmental performance of nanomaterials. The research group is currently attempting to combine biomimetic micro-nano composite structures with external field responsive molecular design, to enable reversible changes in the wettability of material surfaces under single or multiple external field controls as much as possible."

Academician Jiang Lei gave Guo Hao a general overview.

"I am willing to join your research group."

After only a brief consideration, Guo Hao agreed.

The wettability of nanomaterials sounds like a good direction, and this is also an Academician's research group. Joining this research group now will definitely allow him to learn a lot.

Hearing Guo Hao's words, Academician Jiang Lei smiled slightly.

"Then welcome Student Guo Hao!"

"Thank you, Professor Jiang, for your guidance."

Guo Hao quickly said.

"Alright, you're joining my research group. Since I have time today, I'll take you to the Laboratory to meet people. You can visit the Laboratory more often when you have time later."

Academician Jiang Lei said to Guo Hao.

"Okay!"

With that, the two stood up, greeted President Huai who was nearby, and then left the office.

Along the way, Academician Jiang Lei walked and casually asked Guo Hao some questions about Materials Science and Chemistry. Guo Hao gave Academician Jiang Lei some answers.

"Professor Jiang, are my Chemistry and Materials Science levels a bit poor...?"

Guo Hao said to Academician Jiang Lei with a slight embarrassment.

"Not bad!"

Academician Jiang Lei smiled.

"Your level in these two subjects is already equivalent to a second-year Material Engineering student, which has already surprised me greatly. I thought you only had a first-year level, after all, a person's energy is limited.

You've only been at Yan Aviation for less than half a year, and you've published an SCI paper in the field of pure Mathematics. Your Mathematics level is already very high. If your Chemistry and Materials Science levels also surpassed fourth-year students, then I would have to suspect if you were a monster!"

Academician Jiang Lei was not yet fifty years old, and his speech still carried the humor of a middle-aged man.

Guo Hao smiled.

The two walked through a few buildings and soon arrived at Building 5.

"My Laboratory is in this building. This place has access control; I'll have someone get you an access card later."

As he spoke, Academician Jiang Lei had already swiped his card downstairs and led Guo Hao into Building 5.

"Okay, Professor."

"Academician Jiang."

"Academician Jiang!"

Several people nearby, who were either Professors or students, greeted Academician Jiang Lei, and Academician Jiang Lei responded to each of them.

Their eyes fell on Guo Hao.

"Who is that young man next to Academician Jiang Lei?"

"You don't recognize him? Isn't that the mathematical genius of our Yan Aviation who was circulating online a while ago?"

"Oh! How is this mathematical genius standing with Academician Jiang Lei?"

"I don't know!"

.........

The voices of passersby reached Guo Hao's ears.

"You're quite famous."

Academician Jiang obviously also heard the discussions of the two people passing by. He smiled and said to Guo Hao.
