319: New mission! Ignite the torch of first-level civilization! Master controlled nuclear fusion!

Thinking of this, Guo Hao took out the tiny bit of life water that remained.

Looking at the small amount of life water residue on the test tube wall.

He watched for a while.

Using a pipette gun, Guo Hao carefully extracted a tiny bit of liquid from the top and put it into a cryogenic electron microscope for further observation and research.

It was still the same as what Guo Hao had seen before.

It was an element never seen before.

Could it really not be synthesized?

There was a slight disappointment in Guo Hao's eyes. He had deliberately left that tiny bit of life water, not drinking it himself, precisely for research, to see if it could be mass-produced through artificial synthesis.

But looking at it now... his idea was likely to be bankrupt.

If this stuff was really an element, then it was indeed possible that it was natural.

What kind of environment could produce such an element?

Why is this element still so stable on Earth?

How big is the difference between extraterrestrial technology and Earth's technology?

Guo Hao felt a little lost. As he came into contact with more and more knowledge, especially with the existence of something as incredible as the System beside him, Guo Hao sometimes felt his own ignorance even more.

He felt as if he had fallen into a huge sphere with no end in sight.

The more he understood, the more it meant he was ignorant.

Is there really such a thing as a so-called deity? This element, yet possessing the incredibly powerful effect of life water, and a deity's treasure, are indeed somewhat similar.

From human knowledge, Guo Hao could not find any information that could explain life water, but from legends, he could find many such prototypes.

His thoughts also inevitably slid into agnosticism.

Just as Guo Hao's thoughts were gradually sliding towards agnosticism.

"Warning, warning! System warning! User's thoughts are sliding towards agnosticism!"

The System's voice startled Guo Hao awake.

"Phew!"

Guo Hao gently let out a breath. He glanced at the life water still in the pipette and didn't expect that such a tiny bit of liquid could actually shake his state of mind.

It almost made him fall into agnosticism.

Guo Hao smiled self-deprecatingly.

"User is awake. Detecting a change in user's mindset, the System is issuing major stage missions."

"Mission One: Reach the pinnacle of human wisdom! Within ten years, solve the crown jewel of number theory, the Riemann Hypothesis! Mission rewards: Mathematics experience + 2 million, random draw + 3, random physiological skill enhancement * 1. If the mission is not completed by the deadline, it will be considered ended and automatically closed!"

"Mission Two: Ignite the torch of a Level 1 civilization! Within ten years, master controllable nuclear fusion! Mission rewards: Free experience + 3 million! Random draw + 4, brain enhancement uses + 1! Random potion + 1, random sample + 1!"

Two System prompts sounded in his ears, making Guo Hao freeze.

At the same time, the System actually issued two super missions consecutively.

Both were missions starting with ten years.

One was to solve the Riemann Hypothesis, and the other was to solve controllable nuclear fusion technology.

The former was understandable, but the latter...

What the hell does this have to do with him, a mathematician and Materials Science expert??

Although materials are to some extent the most core thing related to controllable nuclear fusion, it doesn't mean that with materials, controllable nuclear fusion can be successfully solved!

Thinking of this, Guo Hao's brows furrowed slightly.

What's more complicated is, how does he cross disciplines?

Should he start researching controllable nuclear fusion from now on?

Guo Hao looked at the life water in front of him.

What about Biology?

He had just begun some research on Biology, and the first generation of gene induction agents had just been proven to be quite effective. Unexpectedly, at this moment, the System suddenly pulled the rug out from under him.

Does it want him to research controllable nuclear fusion?

Is it because of his recent thoughts about life water?

Perhaps, the System wants him to change his perspective?

After briefly handling the things in the underground Laboratory, Guo Hao walked to the backyard of the villa and looked up at the starry sky.

The vast starry sky, endless.

And he was just an ant on a grain of dust in the vast starry sky.

Thinking about something from extraterrestrial matter was truly meaningless.

Guo Hao smiled and shook his head.

Perhaps, the System issued these two missions to tell him.

The universe is vast and boundless.

He hasn't even figured out the energy on this planet, or the Mathematics on this planet.

Thinking about other things is just worrying about nothing, completely meaningless.

Thinking about knowableism and agnosticism in his heart is also meaningless.

He hasn't reached the point where his path is cut off, unable to move forward, unable to learn. There are still too many things he needs to learn, and there are still many, many problems waiting for him to overcome!

"Let's study first!"

Guo Hao smiled slightly.

He took a deep breath.

Without accumulating small steps, one cannot reach a thousand miles!

Turning around, Guo Hao returned to the villa.

Back in the underground Laboratory, Guo Hao no longer made excessive associations with life water. He calmly processed all the data and conducted experiments with small doses of the first generation of gene induction agents on mice.

He also took samples and analyzed the mouse that had shown atavism.

Having had the previous tendency to slide towards agnosticism, Guo Hao was terrifyingly calm at the moment.

After processing this data, Guo Hao returned to the villa.

He immediately began to pull up some current human papers related to controllable nuclear fusion and started studying them.

There was no rush for the Riemann Hypothesis.

Guo Hao had some understanding of this conjecture, whether it was from discussions with Professor Delyne and Professor Grothendieck before, or from some of his own research.

He had some understanding of the Riemann Hypothesis to some extent.

He knew very well that there was still some gap if he wanted to solve the Riemann Hypothesis at present.

As for controllable nuclear fusion...

Guo Hao was almost completely ignorant.

In this life and the previous one, Guo Hao had only heard of this thing in concept.

After consulting some literature, Guo Hao had a general understanding of controllable nuclear fusion.

Controllable nuclear fusion is a technology that combines light atomic nuclei (such as the hydrogen isotopes deuterium and tritium) under extremely high temperature and pressure to form heavier atomic nuclei (such as helium), and releases enormous energy in this process.

This method is designed to mimic the energy source of stars.

The biggest technical difficulty is how to control this extreme high temperature.

The difficulty of controlling the nearly 100 million degrees Celsius temperature released by controllable nuclear fusion is far more difficult than imagined.

Currently, there are two main methods for confining high temperatures: one is magnetic confinement, and the other is inertial confinement.

The former is generally considered the most likely method to achieve controllable nuclear fusion.

The two most influential current schemes, Tokamak and stellarator, both use magnetic confinement.

After reading the literature, Guo Hao slowly tapped his fingers on the computer desk.

At this point, he probably understood why the System would ask him to do controllable nuclear fusion...
