12: Chapter 12: Spend quality time with your clients!

The sun was shining brightly. On the large bed in the master bedroom, the flames of war had finally completely subsided. The room was in a mess.

Zhang Qi leaned against the headboard and exhaled a long breath. It felt pretty good, actually.

Although the Physique bonus provided by the system hadn't been triggered yet, his own foundation wasn't bad to begin with.

Back when he was a simp, he had to look at Sun Qianwen's mood just to hold hands, let alone unlock any new tricks.

Now that he wasn't a simp anymore, and with someone else, the experience was like night and day.

He turned his head and glanced at the woman in his arms. Sun Yiyao was completely exhausted.

After tossing and turning for most of the night, she had just woken up this morning only to be forcibly pulled up for a morning workout.

Having never even entered the gate—being a complete novice—how could she withstand such intense, consecutive battles?

At this moment, Sun Yiyao was like a fish out of water, sprawled across the messy sheets.

She half-closed those beautiful peach-blossom eyes, the corners of which still bore undried tear stains.

Fine beads of sweat covered her smooth forehead, and a few strands of hair, dampened by sweat, clung to her flushed cheeks.

Her entire body felt as if it had been taken apart and reassembled; every muscle and every inch of bone was screaming in soreness.

Especially that unspeakable area, which felt burning and uncomfortable.

Yet, beneath this soreness that almost threatened to tear her apart, there was a faint, unprecedented sense of pleasure flowing through her.

The lingering aftertaste, as if her soul had left her body and soared into the clouds, was still pulsing through her veins.

This huge contrast between body and mind left her feeling dizzy. She didn't even have the strength to move a finger.

She could only let Zhang Qi's powerful hand roam over her smooth back. The touch was warm, carrying a masculine scent that made one feel at ease.

"Bzz, bzz, bzz." A dull vibrating sound broke the silence of the bedroom.

Zhang Qi turned his head. The phone screen on the bedside table was lit up. Actually, it had rung several times since just a while ago.

But at that time, he was in the critical moment of "laying siege to the city," with the arrow already on the string and ready to fire. He had no mind to pay attention to any phone calls.

Now that the troops had retreated, he finally stretched out his long arm and grabbed the phone. At the same time, his other hand took the opportunity to pull Sun Yiyao's soft, boneless body into his arms.

The smooth, slippery sensation was addictive. He unlocked the phone screen. There were seven or eight missed calls, and a long string of WeChat messages popped up.

They were all from one person. Manager Chen Danni of the Zhisheng Finance Analysis Department. Zhang Qi's immediate supervisor. A career woman in her early thirties, with a capable style and a curvaceous figure.

"Zhang Qi, why haven't you arrived at the company yet?" "Did something happen? Reply when you see this message." "You aren't answering the phone either; you're not usually like this. If there's a real emergency, report it to me so I can approve your leave."

Looking at these words full of concern on the screen, Zhang Qi's gaze was calm. When he was at the company, Manager Chen Danni did indeed take good care of him.

Zhang Qi had strong business skills and was reliable in his work, so Manager Chen Danni often entrusted him with good projects. During year-end performance reviews, she always gave him the highest marks.

Once, when a leader from another department tried to shift blame onto Zhang Qi, it was Manager Chen Danni who slammed the table and scolded them back for him.

In that oppressive and calculating workplace, Manager Chen Danni was one of the few people who made him feel a touch of human warmth.

But things were different now. With the "Love Yourself" system by his side, spending a little money on himself resulted in double the rebates. The balance in his card now sat at over one hundred thousand, and this was just the beginning.

Why the hell would he still go to work? That monthly salary of twenty or thirty thousand wasn't even enough for him to order two bottles of good wine now. Plus, he had to clock in on time every day and look at the boss's face. He definitely couldn't keep working this job.

However, Zhang Qi wasn't the type to turn his back on people. Manager Chen Danni had treated him well before, and now that he was leaving, he had to give an explanation. Leaving without notice wasn't his style. In life and work, one must always see things through to the end.

His long fingers tapped rapidly on the screen. "I'll be at the company soon, let's talk in person." He clicked send. Crisp and efficient. No extra explanation.

After sending the message, he tossed the phone aside. Sun Yiyao, in his arms, seemed to hear the commotion and forced her heavy eyelids open. "Who is it?" Her voice was hoarse, carrying a thick nasal tone and laziness.

"Company leadership," Zhang Qi replied.

Hearing the words "company leadership," Sun Yiyao's originally dazed mind felt as if it had been pricked by a needle. She shivered. She suddenly turned her head to look out the window.

The blinding sunlight shone through the gap in the curtains; looking at the position of the sun, it was definitely no longer early morning. "What time is it now?" Sun Yiyao's voice changed pitch, filled with obvious panic.

"Almost eleven," Zhang Qi said casually.

Eleven! Sun Yiyao's brain buzzed. It was over. Although her line of work didn't require clocking in on time every day, the morning routine meeting was mandatory.

It was almost eleven, and she hadn't even asked for leave. This counted as serious unexcused absenteeism. She hadn't closed any deals yet this month, and she was about to lose her base salary.

The rent and cost of living in Shenzhen were like a mountain pressing down on her head. If she lost her job, she wouldn't even be able to afford instant noodles next month.

Panic instantly overcame the soreness in her body. Sun Yiyao sat up abruptly. "Where is my phone? Where did I put my phone?" She scrambled around the bed like a headless chicken.

Because her movements were too vigorous, the quilt that had been covering her slid off instantly. A large expanse of breathtaking scenery was exposed to the air without warning.

On her snow-white skin, there were still faint red marks left from last night and this morning. The full, perky curves swayed violently with her frantic movements, making one dizzy.

Zhang Qi leaned against the headboard, his gaze naturally falling on that spring scenery. The evil fire that had just subsided faintly showed signs of rising again. His Adam's apple rolled slightly.

However, he ultimately suppressed the restlessness in his heart. This stunner was indeed alluring. But it was her first time, and she had been tossed around by him repeatedly. Her state of being sprawled on the bed just now was definitely not an act.

If he went for another round, this woman probably wouldn't be able to get out of bed today. There would be plenty of time in the future; there was no need to rush. Zhang Qi watched her scramble in a flurry, composed and relaxed.

Finally, Sun Yiyao found her phone under the pillow. The screen was clean; there were no missed calls or urgent messages. This made her feel even more uneasy.

With the supervisor's personality, not calling to scold her meant that she had already been given up on, which was an even more serious consequence. Sun Yiyao took a deep breath, suppressing the panic in her heart. She found the supervisor's number and dialed, her fingers trembling slightly.

The phone rang twice before connecting. "Hello, Supervisor Wang." Sun Yiyao kept her voice very low, filled with obvious obsequiousness and humility. "I am truly sorry, this morning I..."

Her brain frantically fabricated excuses. Was she sick? Did she have an emergency at home? Was she in a car accident on the way? But all these excuses seemed pale and powerless.

She stammered for a long time but couldn't manage to squeeze out a complete reason. She couldn't very well tell the supervisor that she had gotten drunk with a client last night to sell wine, and then slept with the client, right?

The other end of the line was silent for two seconds. Sun Yiyao's heart instantly jumped into her throat, waiting for the impending storm. "Little Sun."

Unexpectedly, what came through the phone wasn't the supervisor's usual vitriolic roaring, but an extremely gentle voice filled with a bit of concern. "It's okay, it's okay." "Listening to your voice, are you tired?"

Sun Yiyao was stunned. Tired? When had the supervisor become so reasonable? Before she could react, the supervisor's smiling voice continued.

"If you're tired, take a good rest." "It's fine if you come in the afternoon, or if you don't come at all." "I'll just count your morning as field work; it won't affect your perfect attendance bonus, and your salary will be paid as usual."

Sun Yiyao was completely dumbfounded. She took the phone away from her ear and glanced at the screen. She hadn't dialed the wrong number. This was indeed that vampire supervisor who usually deducted half a day's wages for being one minute late.

What medicine had they taken wrong today? "Supervisor Wang, are you... are you joking?" Sun Yiyao couldn't quite believe her ears.

"Oh, Little Sun, look at what you're saying; how could I be joking with you?" The supervisor's tone became increasingly affectionate. "I know working in sales is hard and that you're under a lot of pressure."

"Don't worry, if you have any difficulties in the future, just tell your supervisor, and I will definitely try my best to help you solve them." Listening to these words of care, Sun Yiyao didn't feel the slightest bit moved; instead, she felt creeped out.

When things are abnormal, there must be something sinister going on. She quickly stated her position. "Supervisor, please don't say that. I will definitely arrive at the company on time this afternoon; I absolutely won't be late."

"Oh, there's really no need to push yourself so hard." The supervisor on the other end finally told the truth, their laughter filled with unconcealable excitement. "Little Sun, that client you developed yesterday is a big client."

"Your primary task now is to maintain this big client well." "It really doesn't matter if you don't come to the company this afternoon; just stay outside and take good care of the client."

"If you can get him to place a few more orders in the next few days, I'll make the call and approve a few days of paid leave for you." "Work hard; you might just be the sales champion at the end of the month."

The call ended. The phone emitted a busy signal. Sun Yiyao remained in the position of holding the phone, her whole body frozen on the bed. The supervisor's words, "take good care of the client," echoed in her mind.

At this moment, she suddenly realized everything. The 180-degree turn in the supervisor's attitude wasn't because she was pretty, nor was it because she worked hard. It was all because of those three sky-high priced red wine orders from last night.

In this realistic society, performance is king, and money is the truth. As long as you can make money for the company and bring in big clients, let alone missing half a day of work, even if you were to crap on the supervisor's head, the supervisor would still be able to smile and ask if you need toilet paper.

And the root of all this... Sun Yiyao slowly turned her head. Her gaze fell on Zhang Qi, who was leaning against the headboard. The supervisor told her to take good care of the client; she had finished taking care of him last night and was taking care of him again this morning... She just didn't know if this big client could still place an order today?
