40: Chapter 39 Sports Cars, Beautiful Women

From that moment on, the efficiency of the entire Porsche Center became incredibly high in front of Zhang Qi.

Manager Liu Qiang ran back and forth personally, shaking his bald, shiny head like a rattle, while directing his subordinates to swiftly finalize the temporary license plates, insurance, and vehicle delivery paperwork.

In less than twenty minutes, everything was taken care of.

Manager Liu Qiang held a stack of brand-new documents and trotted back to the VIP reception area.

He wiped non-existent sweat from his forehead with his sleeve, his face plastered with a fawning smile as he walked toward Zhang Qi.

"Mr. Zhang, the temporary plates and insurance are all set."

Manager Liu Qiang held the documents out with both hands, his posture extremely deferential.

"The only thing left is to get the official license plates. We have a long-term VIP partnership channel with the Vehicle Management Office, so there's no need to wait in line. Once we get there, we can go straight through the green channel, and it'll be done in half an hour."

Zhang Qi took the documents, flipped through them casually, confirmed there were no issues, and tossed them onto the coffee table.

"Fine."

Manager Liu Qiang stepped forward another half-step, rubbing his hands together as he said, "Mr. Zhang, how about this: would it be alright if Su Ran accompanies you to get it done? She's quite familiar with the procedures over there, and it'll be convenient for her to help you handle all the paperwork."

As he said this, his tone was extremely natural, as if his arrangement for Su Ran to accompany him was purely out of consideration for customer service.

But Su Ran saw right through him.

She turned her head and glanced at Manager Liu Qiang.

With just that one glance, the emotions in her eyes were incredibly complex.

There was disgust, disdain, and a hint of contempt.

The attitude this old lecher had toward her before versus now—the change was faster than flipping a book.

To put it bluntly, it was only because of Zhang Qi's immense wealth that he was fawning over him like this.

This talent for bullying the subordinate and fawning over the superior truly made him fit to be a manager.

But Su Ran quickly withdrew her gaze.

She didn't want to waste even a second more of her attention on Manager Liu Qiang.

She turned her gaze toward Zhang Qi.

It was like looking at a completely different person compared to when she looked at Manager Liu Qiang.

In those dewy peach-blossom eyes, the disgust and disdain had completely vanished, replaced by an admiration and fervor that welled up from the depths of her heart.

This look wasn't faked.

She had seen too many rich people.

But compared to Zhang Qi, those rich people just couldn't measure up.

This man spent 2.6 million to buy a sports car without a single word of unnecessary chatter throughout the entire process.

It was as if he had just bought a head of cabbage.

This calmness and sense of ease ingrained in his bones was what truly made Su Ran's heart flutter.

"Is it convenient?"

Zhang Qi's gaze fell on Su Ran, and he asked casually.

Su Ran snapped out of her thoughts, a bright curve forming on her lips.

"Brother Qi, of course it's convenient for me."

Her voice was crisp and pleasant, and her tone carried an undisguised cheerfulness.

Seeing the two of them looking at each other, Manager Liu Qiang, being extremely tactful, added one more favor.

"Su Ran, you don't need to come back to the store today."

He cleared his throat and said with a straight face.

"I see that this is Mr. Zhang's first time driving our Porsche, so he must be unfamiliar with many of the features. You are responsible for accompanying Mr. Zhang for the entire day. You must be responsible for answering and handling any questions Mr. Zhang might have, do you understand?"

This was said in a high-sounding manner, as if he were arranging standard after-sales service.

But the three people present all knew clearly that this was essentially giving Su Ran a day off in disguise so she could accompany Zhang Qi.

Su Ran glanced at Manager Liu Qiang, a polite smile appearing on her face.

"Thank you, Manager."

Her tone was polite, but as cold as if she were speaking to a stranger she didn't know very well.

She turned toward Zhang Qi, her voice instantly softening by several degrees.

"Brother Qi, let's go. Let's go get the license plates first."

"Mm, let's go."

Zhang Qi stood up and picked up the car keys from the coffee table.

The Porsche key was highly recognizable, designed after the silhouette of the 911's body. It felt heavy in the hand with a strong metallic texture.

He tucked the keys into his pocket and strode toward the showroom.

Su Ran followed naturally by his side, their strides almost in sync.

Manager Liu Qiang, watching their retreating figures walking side by side, immediately turned his head and shouted loudly at the staff in the showroom.

"What are you all standing there for! Hurry up and open the main showroom doors, clear the path!"

"That matte gray 911, wipe it down again for me, inside and out! Every corner must be spotless; there shouldn't be a single strand of hair!"

"Are the temporary plates attached? Have you replaced the floor mat on the passenger side? Hurry, hurry!"

Several employees scrambled into action upon hearing this, their efficiency very high.

Someone took a high-end car cleaning cloth and meticulously wiped every inch of the matte gray 911's paintwork from front to back.

Someone crouched on the ground, removed the original floor mats from the driver and passenger seats, and replaced them with brand-new custom suede floor mats.

Others opened the car doors and used professional interior cleaners to wipe the leather seats and center console until they gleamed.

The whole process took less than five minutes, transforming that 911 from a showroom car into a brand-new vehicle ready for delivery at any moment.

The two massive electric glass doors of the showroom's main entrance slowly slid open to the sides.

Sunlight flooded in instantly, illuminating the polished marble floor until it was crystal clear.

The few showroom cars that had been parked at the entrance were moved to the sides, clearing a spacious path in the middle.

Zhang Qi walked up to that matte gray 911 and stopped.

Sunlight hit the car body, and that special layer of matte gray paint presented a highly textured matte effect, understated yet exuding intense aggression.

The black soft-top convertible was neatly folded at the back, and the quad exhaust pipes glinted with a cold silver light in the sun.

Zhang Qi pulled open the car door and sat in the driver's seat.

The cockpit was very low; once he sat down, his entire body was in a nearly reclining position.

The wrap-around leather seats fit his back tightly, providing an incredibly strong sense of enclosure.

The carbon fiber sports steering wheel felt cold and steady in his hands, with an excellent tactile feel.

The center console design was extremely minimalist, with Porsche's iconic five-gauge cluster arranged in the center of the dashboard, the largest tachometer occupying the prime spot.

Zhang Qi pressed the start button on the left side of the steering wheel.

A low, deep roar erupted from the flat-six engine behind him.

The entire car instantly came alive.

The exhaust note wasn't the kind of irritable, ear-piercing explosion, but a deep, powerful low-frequency resonance, like a sleeping beast being awakened, emitting a lazy yet dangerous whimper from its throat.

The vibration was transmitted through the seat to his back, then spread along his spine throughout his entire body.

Zhang Qi gripped the steering wheel, feeling the primitive pleasure brought by this pure machinery, and the corners of his mouth curled up involuntarily.

Men, after all, might be indifferent to many things, but it's hard to remain unmoved by a good car.

Just as Zhang Qi was feeling the engine vibration, the passenger door was pulled open.

Su Ran bent over and sat inside elegantly.

The sports car cockpit wasn't spacious to begin with, and after she sat in, the distance between them was compressed to a very close proximity.

The faint scent of high-end perfume on her, mixed with the smell of the brand-new leather inside the car, permeated the narrow space.

After Su Ran settled in, she smoothed out her skirt hem very naturally.

Because the sitting position in the sports car was very low, and she was wearing that form-fitting black hip-hugging skirt, the hem inevitably rode up a bit the moment she sat down.

Her long, beautiful legs, wrapped in sheer black stockings, shimmered with a subtle luster under the sunlight, extending from her thighs all the way to her ankles, the lines so smooth that one couldn't look away.

Zhang Qi's peripheral vision swept over, and his gaze lingered on that absolute territory for a second.

Su Ran noticed his gaze, and her face flushed slightly, but she didn't deliberately pull her skirt down to cover it, as if she hadn't noticed.

She turned her head to look at Zhang Qi, his profile reflected in her dewy eyes.

"Brother Qi, your seatbelt."

Su Ran's voice was soft, carrying a natural sense of intimacy.

After she spoke, she turned her body, and those beautiful hands reached out toward the seatbelt buckle on Zhang Qi's left side, helping him pull it over.

Her slender fingers brushed across his chest, sliding almost against the fabric of his suit to the buckle.

With a click, the seatbelt was buckled.

This action was extremely ambiguous, yet it was wrapped in a layer of "attentive service," making it impossible for anyone to find any fault.

Zhang Qi looked down at her, and Su Ran happened to look up.

Their gazes collided at a very close distance.

Su Ran didn't look away, her peach-blossom eyes filled with a smile.

Zhang Qi couldn't help but chuckle.

"You really know how to take care of people."

"Of course." Su Ran smiled, her eyes curving into crescents, and she straightened up. "The manager said that today, I'm responsible for solving all of Brother Qi's problems."

These words were extremely thought-provoking.

Zhang Qi didn't take the bait and turned his head to look straight ahead.

He pressed the clutch down with one foot and shifted gears with one hand.

While slowly releasing the clutch, he tapped the gas pedal lightly.

The 911's power response was extremely sensitive; the tachometer needle instantly jumped up, and the engine's exhaust note suddenly rose by an octave from its low whimper.

The car drove steadily out of the showroom's main entrance and onto the wide frontage road in front.

Sunlight poured down, splashing onto the matte gray car body.

Then the wind rushed in.

The few strands of hair hanging by Su Ran's ears were blown gently, and she instinctively raised her hand to tuck them back, a movement that was extremely beautiful.

The sunlight hit her exquisite profile, her fair and delicate skin almost glowing.

Paired with that tight black professional attire and the faintly visible collarbone lines, she was simply more pleasing to the eye than any model in a luxury car advertisement.

Zhang Qi pressed down slightly with his foot.

The flat-six engine let out a violent roar, and the exhaust pipe spewed out a blast of scorching heat.

The powerful G-force instantly pressed both of them hard into their seats.

Su Ran was startled by the sudden acceleration and instinctively reached out to grab the handle on the car door, while letting out a short gasp of surprise.

But immediately after, she laughed.

The sound of the wind, the exhaust note, and the rhythmic roar of the engine wove together in the open cockpit into a raw and primitive symphony.

Her long hair was completely blown loose, her jet-black hair dancing wildly in the wind.

But she didn't mind at all; she even raised her arm, feeling the pleasure of the wind passing through her fingers.

"Brother Qi, you're driving so fast!"

Su Ran turned her head to look at Zhang Qi's profile; her voice was a bit blurred by the wind, but the excitement and joy clearly came through.

Zhang Qi held the steering wheel with one hand, his other hand resting on the gear shifter, his eyes focused intently on the road ahead.

The matte gray 911 sped away under the sunlight, the engine's exhaust note leaving a long echo on the wide road.

Pedestrians waiting for the red light at the side of the road turned their heads to look, and many took out their phones to take pictures of the speeding sports car.

The luxurious, cool sports car and the radiant beauty in black stockings became the focus of all attention.

...

At the entrance of the Porsche Center showroom.

Manager Liu Qiang was still standing in place, watching that 911 disappear at the end of the intersection. The car was long gone, but the echo of the exhaust pipe still faintly vibrated in the air.

He lowered his gaze and fell silent for a long moment.

Then he sighed.

"This Su Ran, I guess she probably won't be coming to work much anymore."
