79: Chapter 79 sounds like a wish-fulfillment novel.

Manager Chen Danni did not hesitate for long.

She stood up from Zhang Qi's embrace, straightened her shirt collar, walked to her desk, sat down, and turned on her computer.

Her fingers flew across the keyboard for less than a minute. The resignation letter was written.

It was concise and to the point, without any fluff. "Due to personal development reasons, I am applying for resignation. Please approve." She added the signature, date, and printed it.

When the A4 paper slid out of the printer, Manager Chen Danni caught it and took a look. Black ink on white paper, clean and crisp.

Ten years. From a junior analyst fresh out of college to the current Manager of the Analysis Department. Everything in this office had been earned step by step. But at this moment, holding this resignation letter, she felt surprisingly calm. It was time to go.

Manager Chen Danni folded the resignation letter, tucked it into a folder, and turned to look at Zhang Qi, who was leaning on the sofa. "I'm going upstairs."

"Mm." Zhang Qi crossed his legs, lazily flipping through an industry report on her desk without even looking up. "Go and come back quickly, we still need to eat later."

The corner of Manager Chen Danni's mouth twitched. This guy really treated her resignation as casually as eating a meal.

She took a deep breath, opened the office door, and walked out. The sound of her high heels rang crisp and clear in the hallway, with a steady rhythm and not a hint of hesitation.

The elevator went up two floors to the executive office area. Manager Chen Danni knocked on the Vice President's office door. "Enter." A steady male voice came from inside.

Manager Chen Danni pushed the door open, walked in, stood before the desk, and handed over the folder. "Mr. Wang, here is my resignation application."

Vice President Wang Jianming was looking at his computer; upon hearing this, his finger paused on the mouse. He looked up at Manager Chen Danni, then glanced at the paper in the folder. "Danni, what kind of joke is this?"

"It's not a joke." Manager Chen Danni's tone was flat.

Wang Jianming pulled out the resignation letter and read it twice, his brow furrowing tighter. "You've been with the company for nearly ten years, and you built the Analysis Department from the ground up." He placed the letter on the desk and leaned back in his chair. "If you leave now, who will manage this department?"

"We can promote from within, or recruit from outside." Manager Chen Danni replied quickly; she had clearly thought about this long ago.

Wang Jianming stared at her for several seconds. "Is another company poaching you?" "No." "Then what is the reason?"

Manager Chen Danni smiled but said nothing. The smile was faint, but its meaning was very clear—I don't want to talk about it, and you shouldn't ask.

Wang Jianming had been in the business world for over twenty years; he had seen all kinds of people. He could naturally tell that Manager Chen Danni was determined to leave.

"Danni, think about it again." He made one final effort. "Regarding salary and benefits, the company can renegotiate."

"There's no need, Mr. Wang." Manager Chen Danni shook her head. "I have already decided."

The office was quiet for a few seconds. Wang Jianming sighed, picked up the signing pen on the desk, and signed his name in the approval section of the resignation letter. "Then I can only wish you a bright future."

"Thank you, Mr. Wang." Manager Chen Danni took back the resignation letter, bowed slightly, and turned to walk out of the Vice President's office.

The moment the door closed behind her, her footsteps paused. Ten years. Starting today, she was no longer Manager Chen Danni of Zhisheng Finance.

Manager Chen Danni looked down at the signed resignation letter in her hand and tucked it back into the folder. Then she looked up and strode toward the elevator. Her high heels clicked on the marble floor, the sound crisp and resolute. She did not look back.

The elevator doors opened on the Analysis Department floor. Manager Chen Danni stepped out and walked straight to push open the glass doors of the office area. Inside, dozens of people were busy with their own work. The sounds of keyboards, phones, and hushed conversations were intertwined.

Manager Chen Danni stood at the entrance and scanned the entire office area. "Everyone, stop for a moment." Her voice was not loud, but it carried a natural air of authority.

The entire office area instantly fell silent. Everyone's gaze snapped toward her. Manager Chen Danni stood straight, her expression calm, her tone concise.

"I have something to announce to everyone." "I have just submitted my resignation to the company, and it has been approved." "Starting today, I will no longer serve as the Manager of the Analysis Department."

As her voice fell, the entire office area seemed to have hit a pause button. No one spoke, no one moved. Everyone was frozen in place, their faces filled with disbelief.

"What?" The first to react was a female colleague sitting in the front row, her voice cracking. "Sister Danni, you resigned?"

Manager Chen Danni nodded slightly without giving further explanation. "The company will arrange the subsequent work handover. Everyone, just continue with your current tasks."

After saying this, she turned and walked back to her office. The office area behind her completely exploded.

"Manager Chen resigned?" "No way, right? She's already a manager, why would she resign?" "Was she forced out by the company?" "That's impossible, her position in the company is very stable." "Then why on earth?"

The clamor of discussion instantly filled the office area. In the corner, Qian Mengsheng sat at her workstation, completely stunned.

Of course, she knew why Manager Chen Danni resigned. Zhang Qi had just entered Manager Chen Danni's office, and the door had been closed for quite a while. Then Manager Chen Danni came out, went upstairs, and announced her resignation upon returning. Anyone could figure out what happened in between with their eyes closed.

But Qian Mengsheng was still shocked. She knew Manager Chen Danni was seeing Zhang Qi, but she really hadn't expected Manager Chen Danni to resign outright.

In the current economic climate, so many people outside were breaking their necks trying to get into Zhisheng Finance. Ordinary employees wouldn't dare to resign easily, let alone Manager Chen Danni, who had already reached a managerial position.

This woman had truly bet everything on Zhang Qi. Qian Mengsheng bit her lip, feeling a complex mix of emotions she couldn't quite describe.

Su Ran had quit her job at the Porsche Center. Now Manager Chen Danni had quit too. Two outstanding women, both having left their former positions, and both revolving around Zhang Qi.

Was she better than them? In terms of looks, they were on par, but in terms of ability and personality, she was indeed inferior. They had both made such decisions, so what about her? At this moment, even Qian Mengsheng felt she had been a bit pretentious.

Manager Chen Danni returned to her office without delay. She opened the drawer and packed her personal belongings into her bag one by one. A mug, a box of throat lozenges, a fountain pen she had used for a long time, and a few photos with old colleagues. There wasn't much; she finished packing in three minutes.

Zhang Qi was still sitting on the sofa, having flipped through more than half of the industry report in his hand. "Let's go." Manager Chen Danni picked up her bag and glanced at him.

Zhang Qi tossed the report onto the coffee table and stood up. The two walked out of the office one after the other. Manager Chen Danni walked in front, with Zhang Qi following beside her; the distance between them was neither too far nor too close. But their posture of walking side-by-side didn't look like that of ordinary former colleagues, no matter how you looked at it.

Pushing open the glass doors of the Analysis Department, the two walked through the office area. Everyone's gaze followed them. The colleagues who had been whispering just a moment ago all fell silent.

They watched Zhang Qi and Manager Chen Danni walk toward the elevator lobby, their steps composed, their expressions natural. There was no sadness of departure on Manager Chen Danni's face; instead, she wore a look of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted. As for Zhang Qi, he seemed to take it all for granted, his pace casual and his aura steady.

Their backs disappeared behind the elevator doors. The office area was silent for three seconds. Then, like a dam breaking, everyone started talking at once.

"Wait, did you see that?" "I saw it, Manager Chen Danni left with Zhang Qi." "Didn't they say Zhang Qi came back to beg Manager Chen Danni to let him be reinstated?" "Beg my ass!" The bespectacled male colleague slapped the table. "Zhang Qi came for one visit, and instead, Manager Chen Danni resigned! You call that begging?"

"Then what do you think is going on?" The office area fell into a brief silence. Several people looked at each other, their brains working at high speed.

The male colleague in the plaid shirt lowered his voice and leaned toward the next workstation. "Do you guys think... maybe Sister Danni is actually together with Zhang Qi?" "This..." The few people nearby exchanged glances, and all saw the same speculation in each other's eyes.

"Look at Zhang Qi; everything he's wearing now is a luxury brand. Maybe he really hit it rich." The bespectacled male colleague adjusted his glasses and added, "After getting rich, he first managed to hook his former female boss?"

Once these words were spoken, the few people around all gasped. Thinking about it carefully, it actually seemed to make sense.

Before resigning, Zhang Qi was just an ordinary financial analyst, earning ten or twenty thousand a month, working overtime until nine every day, and being used as an ATM by his girlfriend. Yet, just a few days after resigning, he suddenly started wearing high-end custom suits and sporting a Patek Philippe. And then, his former female boss, that woman as cold as an ice cellar who never said an extra word to any male colleague, just walked away with him like that.

"Damn it." The male colleague in the plaid shirt leaned back in his chair, his expression a mix of jealousy and admiration. "Sounds like a power fantasy."

This sentence accurately summarized the feelings of everyone present. No one refuted it. Because everything happening before their eyes was truly more outlandish than a power fantasy.
